2021-2022 INFORMATION PACKET

So you want to compete?

KCPA's competition team, the Assembly, will have teams that include dancers from ages 7 to 18. Team names are Team Alpha (our oldest team), Team Delta, Team Epsilon, Team Gamma, Team Kappa, Sigma Force (our boys HH team), Team Theta and Team Zeta (our youngest team). These teams will meet each week for 1 to 1.5 hours for technique and rehearsal. They will also build relationships and participate in events as part of these teams.

These teams are your immediate-dance-family for the season!

In addition to these teams, dancers can be invited to compete with a variety of different dances in the styles of Musical Theater, Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, HipHop, Tap and "Open”. These dances will rehearse for 45 minutes each week.

All dances will have a Choreography-Kickstart-Session from 3 to 6 hours with their choreographers to begin the choreography process.

TEAM/DANCE COSTS: The cost to compete with each dance, inluding your AlphaZeta team dance, can range from $435 to $485 which includes choreography-kickstart fees, costume and competition fees. These fees will be divided among 5-6 monthly payments (depending on the month KCPA opens doors). This cost does not include monthly tuition, conventions, shoes, tights or unforeseen additions to costumes such as embellishments or tailoring.

OTHER COSTS: (These costs will also be divided among 5-6 months with the team/dance costs to make one monthly Assembly fee payment.)

RECITAL FEE: $75.00 for first dancer & $50.00 for each additional dancer in the family. Tentative recital date: June 18th, 2022.

CONVENTION: $250.00-$350.00 each (All dancers will attend at least 1. Hiphop dancers will participate in at least 2.)

ASSEMBLY PHOTOSHOOT: $110.00 includes 2 photoshoots: 1 with your Assembly jacket in studio and 1 dance shoot at an offsite location to be determined.

COSTS NOT INCLUDED IN MONTHLY FEES: SOLOS/DUETS/TRIOS: Prices range from $350-$600 in choreography costs. Plus costume, studio rental and additional cleaning lessons.

ASSEMBLY GEAR: Jacket is mandatory for all competing dancers and is $150.00 (plus tax). See the Assembly Gear catalogue to see all the fun things your dancer can wear. Assembly gear can be worn on the the last week of each month (must be classroom appropriate) and dancers must wear KCPA colors or Assembly gear the Saturday of each convention.

TUITION: Tuition is based on the number of hours registered for each week and will be charged on the 1st of every month. See tuition chart attached.

PARTIES, GIFTS & FUN: There is a strong chance you will want to participate in team activities outside of KCPA Assembly events. Please understand that this will come at a cost as well.

It takes time to prepare for competition to work on choreography and each dancer's technique and capabilities so we require a certain number of hours per dancer according to the average age of the team they are competing with.

Ages 6-8 years: 1 Ballet & 1 Jazz technique hour. And 1 tech hour for each style if competing tap and/or hiphop. .

Ages 9-11 years: 2 Ballet & 1 Jazz technique hours. And 1 tech hour for each style if competing tap and/or hiphop.

Ages 12-13 years: 2 Ballet & 2 Jazz technique hours. And 1 tech hour for each style if competing tap and/or hiphop.

Ages 14+ years: 2 Ballet & 2 Jazz technique hours plus 1 hour of style of choice and 1 tech hour for each style if competing tap and/or hiphop.

Technique Hours: Technique hours as listed above are classes that are listed on our schedule as levels 1 through 4. Some classes are performance and some are technique. Both are considered technique hours but please know that performance classes will perform in the recital and will require a costume purchase that is not included in Assembly cost. This years recital is going to be quite amazing and we encourage all of our Assembly dancers to perform with our performance classes!
