Welcome to Parsons Cattle Company’s 2nd Annual Bull Sale! We are delighted to have you join us, whether in person or online – we sincerely thank you for taking the time to take part in sale day. 2024 was a year for the books. We would like to thank everyone who supported our first annual sale, from the crew in the back, to the buyers, bidders, attendees, sale staff, those phone calls and texts of support it truly was an overwhelming day, one that we will be forever grateful for. Thank you to our valued customers for trusting in our program time & time again and providing us with some of the most amazing business relationships!

2024 had its challenges as well, after a fantastic start in the spring season with good rains the pasture grasses were abundant, unfortunately the skies closed off again in July, crops went backwards and daily hauling of water to the cattle was required. I think we managed to scrape together enough feed between the silage crop and hay & straw purchases to push on.

Something new for 2025 we have added Double D Cattle as a guest consigner, and they are bringing in some real nice black Simmental bulls to the lineup. We met Darwin and Dylan Fuller about 7 years ago, through local 4H that Gracie and Denim were in, we always appreciated the quality of cattle they brought to the shows. What really impressed us was the way Dylan would mentor and assist the younger 4-H members, he had the ability to make all of them feel welcomed and included, no matter which club they belonged to. I remember saying to Katie after one of the 4H achievement days a few years back “If we ever get to the point of having our own bull sale, and that young man is still in the cattle industry we should give him a place to market his bulls,” and here we are today!

On offer this year, we feel we have a fantastic set of yearling bulls. The performance bulls are sired by CTP Jawdropper 749J & FLC Wheat King 4G. The Jawdropper’s are plum full of red meat, have an extra rib or two and will flat out add selling pounds to your calves in the fall, if you follow EPD’s you won’t find better WW and YW numbers than you will on Jawdropper. Wheat King, our senior herd sire, impresses from every angle. We think so incredibly highly of him, we actually skipped his first month of breeding in the spring so he could go to stud and be collected, so we can continue to use him for years to come, and have that insurance of semen in the tank. The daughters at home are remarkable, the udder design is flawless and they absolutely adore being moms.

On the calving ease side of things TAC Jag 78J is about as good as it gets. I did some calculations and after roughly 50 females calved out over the last 3 years bred to Jag, the bull calves have averaged 85 pounds and heifer calves have averaged 77 pounds.

They come out small, have little heads, are covered curly hair, have vigour like you wouldn’t believe and grow like weeds. We also were able to try a bull we raised ourselves, PAR Kounty 34K that our friends at Poplar Bluff purchased a couple years ago and are pretty darn happy with those results as well. We are excited to see how they will look as 2yr olds in the coming years for the Taylor family. These bulls are fed a TMR mixed ration of barley & soft white wheat silage, hay and designed bull ration from Country Junction Feeds, keeping a balanced diet and longevity in mind.

The bulls will be available at VJV Auction Mart Monday morning for viewing prior to the sale. Bulls can also be viewed anytime prior to sale day, at the farm. Welcome On behalf of Double D we would like to welcome you to this year’s bull sale. Firstly we couldn’t thank the Parsons family enough for the opportunity to be a part of this sale. We would also like to thank everyone for taking time to look through the catalogue and having interest in the offering. We would also like to thank Kailey Wirsta of K-Cow Design for the development of the catalogue.

Here at Double D we run 50 purebred and percentage simmental cows along with 250 red and black Simmy/Angus commercial cows. Each year an extensive Al and ET program allows us to source some of the best genetics available for our purebred herd. We also take purchasing herd bulls very seriously, and often do everything possible to ensure that we are buying the best available, that are backed by the right kind of cows. We strive to produce cattle that don’t just excel in a single trait, but rather have a balanced set of quality traits throughout.

This year’s bulls are developed on a Bullseye TMR constructed ration of a mixture of corn silage and barley along with a balanced set of minerals, when developing this year’s bull we were striving for high gains on a slow and steady basis.

The bulls will be available for viewing on Monday morning at VJV Ponoka prior to the sale.

They can also be viewed before the sale anytime on the farm.

TERMS:

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

BIDDING:

Each animal will sell to the highest bidder... no by-bidding will be permitted. Disputes - Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue.

Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

BREEDER’S GUARANTEE:

Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

EXCEPTION GUARANTEE:

In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION:

Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association or Canadian Simmental Assosiaction.

A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

RIGHTS & OBLIGATIONS:

The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

PURCHASER’S RISK:

Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.

ACCIDENTS:

Although everyprecaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers and spectators, neither Parsons Cattle Company, Double D Cattle, VJV Auction, the auctioneer, sale staff or Wright Livestock Marketing sale management assumes no responsibility in the matter and disclaims any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of an accident or loss of property.
