KCINDEPENDENT.COM

s we come upon another season of giving, I frequently find myself meditating on what it truly means to give. Often it can feel like this small thing we do won’t have an effect, but that small thing can sometimes have the largest impact. Each small drop of water collectively can make an ocean. I remind myself that we aren’t here for ourselves, but for others. Community is such an important aspect to our humanity, and it is the community organizations and non profits that change the world for so many individuals. Give KC continues to highlight what these fantastic organizations need in order to continue to do so much inspiring work. This year, Give KC is sponsored by The University of Kansas Health System. The University of Kansas Hospital has been nationally ranked through U.S. News & World Report for more than 15 years, and they are ranked in eight specialties for 2022-2023. The University of Kansas Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center in the region, and one of only 53 in the nation. Our wonderful cover was designed by Kansas City-based illustrator, Jacqueline Kerr. Jacqueline attended The University of Kansas, where she earned a degree in illustration. She works as a freelance artist painting custom work which is watercolor and ink based. Jacqueline finds her inspiration throughout Our Town and also from the many places she has traveled. You can find more of her work on her website, jacquelinekerrillustration.com or on Instagram @jacquelinekerrillustration. We hope that within these pages you will find new ways to support your favorite organizations or discover new organizations that need your generosity. The digital version of Give KC will be released on Giving Tuesday, November 29th, to subscribers of our e-newsletter, The Insider. Please join us in celebrating these wonderful non-profit organizations, as your small action will make a lasting impact.
