A LETTER FROM THE CEO

I hope this letter finds you well and filled with the same excitement and anticipation that I have for the future of Kansas City Fashion Week (KCFW). It is with immense pride and gratitude that I address you today as the new Owner and CEO of KCFW.

For the past 12 years, I have had the privilege of serving as the President of KCFW. During this time, I have witnessed the growth, creativity, and passion of our local fashion community. The journey has been nothing short of remarkable, and it's all thanks to your unwavering support.

I would like to take this moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to our former CEO, Philip Willoughby. Philip's leadership and dedication have been instrumental in shaping KCFW into the dynamic platform it is today. His vision, tireless efforts, and your support have left an indelible mark on our organization, and we owe him, and you, a tremendous debt of gratitude for your years of support.

As we step into this new era, I am excited to lead KCFW forward, building on the strong foundation laid by Philip and our incredible team. Together, we will continue to celebrate and promote the talent and creativity of our local fashion industry.

It is your support that has allowed KCFW to thrive, and I am committed to ensuring that we continue to provide you with exceptional fashion experiences. Kansas City Fashion Week has always had an affinity for kick off events The love for events that go beyond the runway and connect the fashion community has always been important and, of course, fun!

To keep up with the ever evolving industry, we knew that we had to expand our two weeks a year into something more! And so: KCFW Weekend was born

One of the events included a beautiful summer soiree where everyone could gather for food (Peregrine Catering), drinks (Boulevard, On The Rocks, Deluca), and entertainment (Jass R Couch) This pool side event proudly benefitted the Fashion Arts Fund

EXPLORING STYLES

Fashion is universal and can be interpreted and shown in a myriad of ways Whether slacks and a button up is more your scene or you gravitate more towards the classic cocktail dress, there is no wrong answer when it comes to expressing your personal style

For this particular summer soirée event, Jeanne Nuage let her designs speak for themselves and proved that swimwear can be just as fashionable Her models proudly wore her designs perfectly fitted for the summer occasion With the bold colors and intricate patterns, these swimsuits definitely made a splash and caught the attention of everyone in attendance

From satin to swimwear, heels or flats, fashion is found in everything we wear This soirée party was the perfect excuse to make a fashion statement of your own, have a good time with your friends, and benefit a worthy organization all in one fun-filled night under the stars

KENDRA GIVES BACK

KCFW Weekend kicked off with the Kendra Gives back in-store shopping event of the year! From Gracie Key designs to color bar jewels, the launch of the weekend-long festivities could not have gone better

Kendra Scott in Leawood welcomed us into their store for a fun night of guilt-free shopping since 20% of the proceeds from all sales that night went directly to our charity partner, Fashion Arts Fund

Thanks to Kendra’s incredible team of stylists, guests were able to add new pieces to their jewelry collections, get their hands on a custom GK original, and -most importantly- make a difference in the lives of fashion students with the help of the Fashion Arts Scholarships Fund

The core of Kendra Scott’s business is giving back to the community, making this specific partnership all the more meaningful to not only the Kendra team but to everyone involved in making this event a tremendous success and an overall night to remember

We had an opportunity to shoot a few questions over to long time KCFW Photographer Alex Todd to learn more about him.

LET'S LEARN:

KCFW: Tell us about you. Have you always been from Kansas City?

aTodd: I've only been in Kansas City for about four years, but it's felt like much longer! Time flies when you ' re having fun. I grew up in Andover, Kansas and then went to study computer science at Kansas State University. After graduating I moved here to Kansas City where I'm a full time software engineer.

KCFW: We know you in the world of photography. What got you started down this path?

aTodd: For as long as I can remember I've always loved taking photos, but I didn't pick up my first DSLR camera until around 2017. I started working as a photojournalist for the K-State Collegian newspaper and absolutely loved meeting new people and learning about events and cultures in the community that

I otherwise wouldn't have known about. My favorite part of working for the Collegian was taking photos at football games in Bill Snyder Family Stadium and even a NASCAR race at the Kansas Speedway. Once I moved to Kansas City --->

started taking more portraits and signed up for Kansas City Fashion Week, which I've since been at for over ten seasons I also enjoy taking music and night life photos, mainly for electronic concerts and festivals like Dancefestopia & Breakaway Photography has given me a front row seat to some amazing opportunities and I can ' t wait to see where it takes me next!

KCFW: Pop Quiz. You get to travel to one place in the world and photograph whatever you want. Where are you going and what are you photographing?

aTodd: This is a tough one. I've been getting in to Formula 1 racing lately,

so right now my answer is a F1 race from the garages in Monaco My bucket list is long, so if you need a personal photographer for your next trip - I'm available for hire

KCFW: What's your favorite KC spot? And we ' re not talking about where you want to go for photos. What's the best spot to hang with friends or grab a bite to eat?

aTodd: I love having friends over to my apartment for game nights, but when we ' re hungry my favorite spots include: KC Craft Ramen, Bamboo Penny's, and Tiki Taco.

KCFW: Is a hotdog a sandwich?

aTodd: A hotdog is a taco (See the cube rule of food)

In July 2023, Kansas City Fashion Week launched KCFW fashion FIT - a program dedicated to revolutionizing the way health and wellness intersect with the fashion industry

Leading the launch with Puppy Yoga, models and friends alike were able to get a workout in with our four legged friends from Unleashed Pet Rescue

Kansas City Fashion Week is excited to grow this new program to bring a variety of events that encourage movement, health, and another way for the fashion community to spend time and grow together.

KCFW fashion FIT has been proud to partner with Revolution Gym & Fight University over the summer to offer a space for yoga, bootcamps, and self defense classes Check out more at www.revgym.com.

R E V I V E U S A G A I N

First things first: tell us about yourself!

My name is River Beck. I grew up in the Kansas City area playing baseball and doing Boy Scouts until I fell in love with filming and photography I started doing photoshoots with friends and family, inspired to create every day as I learned more about my passions and my growing relationship with God. After I started my clothing brand in 2019, up-cycling and creating one of a kind pieces, I furthered my education through community college. I learned how to run a business, how to promote my story, and even taught myself how to sew.

You have recently undergone a rebranding. What has that process been like?

God led me to an opportunity in Detroit to learn from some of the best at Nike and New Balance. I was able to design and present an all-day functional outfit for Gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin. I brought this experience and wisdom back home with me to Kansas City, deciding to use my brand to spread the word of Jesus in every piece. This season, I have changed my brand name to Revive Us Again meaning making alive in the Lord’s spirit, living in His joy and gladness everyday (Psalms 85:6) I want the brand to represent more than just clothing; I want a revival, a movement!

How does your style stand out from the rest?

I think my style is unique because of the attention to detail in each and every piece. The distinctive line language and technical look offers a story and meaning to all the collections so that it is more then just clothing.

How and where do you draw your inspiration for your collections?

I love to explore Kansas City with friends. I draw inspiration from the details of city life or the small nuances of God’s creation in the woods.

Tell us about your favorite hidden gem in KC.

One of my favorite spots at the moment is Sequence Climb in the Crossroads area. I also follow a small skate brand named To All The Enemies on Instagram - they are doing some pretty cool things in the city.

As a new model, I felt so welcomed and embraced by the KCFW family It felt like I had been working with them for years, even though it was my first time meeting most of the group. The shoot locations were absolutely stunning, especially Garden of the Gods It was an incredible experience exploring new places and working with such talented and creative people. - kelly

Getting to be a part of the KCFW Land Adventure this past summer was an amazing experience! I loved getting to meet other models within the industry, work with talented photographers, and collaborate with a great team to make it such a memorable experience! It was truly an honor to have been selected for the project My favorite part of it all is a combination of getting to wear the amazing clothes and accessories, listening to fun music, hyping each other up, as we took amazing pictures while watching the sun rise in the Garden of the Gods!

I had such an amazing time during the Colorado Trip. With me just starting off in the modeling industry, it was so nice to be with a small group of people that were all aimed at just having a great time and getting great shots. Each person include on the trip really helped me get out of my bubble and have the confidence to pose in all of the incredible shooting sights we had. Highly recommended for anyone just looking to have a great time and meet some of the best people.
