Ingredients: ■ 1 cup cranberries ■ 2 cups chopped tomatoes ■ ½ tsp turmeric powder ■ ¾ tsp red chili powder ■ ¾ tsp garam masala ■ 2 tsp mustard seeds ■ A pinch of asafoetida ■ 2 tsp brown sugar ■ Salt, to taste ■ 2 tbsp oil Instructions: Blend the cranberries and chopped tomatoes into a smooth paste. In a pan over medium heat, heat two tablespoons of oil and add the mustard seeds and let them pop. Add in a pinch of asafoetida, then the cranberrytomato paste, sautéing for 2-3 minutes. Then, add in the turmeric, red chili powder and salt and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens into a paste.

(For the cranberry sauce) Dissolve 1 cup of sugar in 1 cup of orange juice over medium heat.

Wash the cranberries and add to the juice mixture.

Heat until the cranberries pop.

That’ll be about 10 to 15 minutes.

Take off the burner and let it cool for about 20 to 30 minutes. I also used a potato masher to further mush the mixture. The mixture will thicken a bit as it cools.

Add lemon and lime juice to taste.

Put in the fridge and reheat if you’re not making the appetizer right away.

Scoop a nice amount of creamy brie onto the cracker.

Drop a dollop of cranberry sauce on top.

Bake at 350°F. After 20 minutes, check it every few minutes. I find it usually takes around 40-45, but you’ll know it’s done when the apple mixture starts to bubble up at the edges. Let it cool before eating with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy again for breakfast the next day.

Streusel topping: ■ ¾ cup all-purpose flour ■ ¾ cup light brown sugar ■ 1 tsp. cinnamon ■ ½ tsp nutmeg ■ ½ tsp salt ■ 1 cup rolled oats ■ 1 stick butter, cubed and very cold Instructions: Prepare the shortbread base first.

Let the cookies cool completely on the counter, then chill the dessert in the fridge overnight to

allow the layers to set. Cut into square bars and enjoy!

Let’s be honest, holiday dinners are laden with heavy, decadent foods. Often, we want something tasty that’s also on the lighter side.

And voila, we have salad. This recipe is more assembly than cooking and can be put together on the go.
