Program Narrative: The COVID-19 pandemic and the concomitant issues related to racial discrimination and injustice {sometimes referred to as the ‘double pandemic'} has impacted most of the US population and exposed deep vulnerabilities in many systems and institutions; such as our fragmented healthcare system and our extreme income and racial inequalities. NJPA Lifetime Achievement Award: NJPA's highest honor, recognizing a member’s exceptional leadership in the form of enduring and exemplary contributions to NJPA, over a sustained period of time, which collectively, has significantly enhanced the association’s ability to positively impact the lives and careers of its members, as well as advancing the field of psychology in New Jersey, and beyond.

NJPA Psychologist of the Year Award: Awarded to a member who made an important contribution to the profession of psychology in New Jersey, through service to NJPA, and demonstrated excellence in psychology either through practice, research, and/or teaching.

NJPA Stanley Moldawsky Mentor Award: Awarded to an NJPA member who exhibits exceptional leadership, over a sustained period of time, in the form of enduring and exemplary contributions to mentoring new psychologists and/or graduate doctoral level students that, in turn, will significantly enhance the association’s ability to positively impact the lives and careers of its new membership, as well as advancing the field of psychology in New Jersey, and beyond.

Academic and Scientific Affairs Distinguished Faculty Award: Awarded to a psychologist, either fulltime faculty or holding a scientific position, for their research, teaching, or training efforts.

Academic and Scientific Affairs Student Research Award: Awarded to a student (undergraduate or graduate) in psychology who is attending a college/university in New Jersey, interning in a New Jersey institution, or an NJPA student affiliate, who has demonstrated exceptional research potential as determined by his or her academic department.

NJPA Dawn Gemeinhardt Student Appreciation Certificate: Awarded to the 2021 NJPAGS Chair The NJPA Foundation Scholarship for Research on Diversity Issues: Awarded to a graduate student in psychology who advances the following goals: (a) promote scientific understanding of the role of diversity in psychology; (b) foster the development of sensitive models for delivery of psychological services to diverse populations.

The John M. Lagos Award for Research into Causes and/or Treatment of Social Problems: Awarded for the study of causes and/or treatment of social problems. Some possible topics include school issues, work problems, health issues, and aggression.

NJPA Legislator of the Year Award: Honors a New Jersey legislator who has sponsored or championed legislation that directly benefits psychologists and/or consumers of psychological services.

The research process helps define psychology. One of the most rewarding NJPA experiences involves annually encouraging individuals to conduct their own research, participate in the NJPA Poster Presentations, and then helping them share their study results during the NJPA Fall Conference. Be sure to view the 2021 NJPA Poster Presentations. The one-minute author narrated videos will be available to view online in the Poster Hall page of the Fall Conference website page in midSeptember.
