Teams or groups hold regular practices and often compete in an organized league with other collegiate sport club teams.

Sport Clubs FIVE MINUTES WITH THE MEN’S RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB When was your club established? Spring 2011 was our first semester. How often do you practice? The club practices two times a week on the field. Most of the guys go to the SRC during their off days to lift weights or throw the ball around. Do you have to have prior rugby football experience to join the Rugby Football Club? Not at all. In fact most of the current club members just started playing this year. How long is your season? The rugby season typically starts in the fall season with tournaments and friendlies (September-November).The spring semester is the beginning of conference play where teams compete to go to the national championship in their respective division (February-April). Once the spring season ends then the focus will turn to sevens rugby during the summer months. Most of those are tournaments set up around the southeast.
Are there any upcoming competitions the club is preparing for? We have rugby sevens coming up in the summer that we’re really looking forward to. How much does the club travel? The team typically has an equal number of home games and away games. Away games range from within the state of Georgia to other colleges around the southeast in Alabama, South Carolina,Tennessee and Florida. If the team progresses to nationals, then the team may be required to travel to the Northeast, Midwest, or West. Where can students go if they are interested in joining the club? Anyone can e-mail our secretary Greggory (grothmeier1@student.gsu.edu) if they have any questions about the game or would like to join our practices. We would love to have new guys to come out any time. Article Contributor: Greggory Rothmeier
Rugby is THE ultimate sport. Build fitness, strength and life-long bonds in this fluid sport that allows for kicking, running, passing, tackling and more. Build your vocabulary with words like ruck, scrum and maul.

What do people say about the Touch the Earth Challenge Program? “The ultimate proof of the success of this program was walking into class the next day and looking at all my classmates in a completely different light. They were no longer just people filling a chair in the classroom, they were now my friends, people I can talk to, trust and depend on.” ~Lindsey William, MGS 3400 “Overall, I enjoyed the Ropes Course and wish that other students could have the same opportunity to participate in it. It helped me to build new relationships with my classmates and learn to trust people more. Also, I was able to climb trees and learned how to walk on ropes. I can tell now my friends and family that I do other stuff besides study while attending Georgia State.” ~Reginald Dennis, MGS 3400
