Membership Information

Membership is limited to faculty, staff, retirees, students and degree holding alumni of Georgia State University. Current students are members through their student fees.

Access

All members will sign a waiver with initial membership. PantherCards are required to enter and exit. To request accommodations, please contact the Access and Accommodations Center at access.gsu.edu. During the Summer Semester, the Student Recreation Center will have PantherCard Controlled Access at the Front Doors (Piedmont entrances) during our operating hours Monday-Friday before 7:30 a.m. and after 8 p.m. and all-day Saturday and Sunday. The back doors (Parking Deck entrance) will be under PantherCard Controlled Access during our operating hours all-day Monday-Sunday. During Semester Breaks, May Session and Finals Week, the Student Recreation Center will have PantherCard Controlled Access during our operating hours all-day Monday-Sunday. During these times an active PantherCard will be required to access the facility.

Age Requirements

All children must be with parent or guardian at all times. Children are not allowed to participate in programs.

Locker Rental

A limited number of lockers will be available starting at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, June 8. One locker per member, per semester.

*Payroll deduction is available for $21/month for full time faculty and staff receiving benefits. Retirees are not eligible for payroll deduction.

Guest Fees

Members may bring one guest per visit. Guest fees are $10 per visit. Guests aged 7 and under are free. Each guest 18 and older will be required to sign a waiver and present a form of government issued photo identification. Photos of government-issued photo identification will not be accepted. The guest must be accompanied by the member throughout the visit. The guest will not have access to program registration or programs. During PantherCard Controlled Access hours the following passes will not be available: guest passes, day passes for Retirees, and Degree Holding Alumni.

Lifeguarding

Course Times: Friday, 4 - 8:30 p.m., Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. AND Friday, 4 - 8:30 p.m. Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Prerequisites:

Participants must complete a swim-tread-swim evaluation for time.The test includes swimming 150 yards (front crawl or breaststroke), treading water for 2 minutes using only the legs, then swimming 50 yards. In the timed event (1:40), participants swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10 lb. object from 12 feet deep, and return 20 yards on their back while holding the object, exiting the water without using a ladder or steps.

Blended Learning:

This course includes required online coursework that must be completed before the first-class session. Failure to complete the online portion will result in course failure without a refund.

Certification:

To earn certification, participants must meet all prerequisites, attend every class, complete all activities, and pass both the written exam and three final skill assessments. Failure to certify will result in forfeiture of the registration fee.

Beginner 1 is a class for beginners to conquer their fear of water and learn freestyle stroke in a group setting. Skills - water fear, floating, glides, freestyle stroke, treading water, and water competency test.

Sauna

Hours of Operation:

The sauna closes alongside the Aquatic Center, 15 minutes prior to the facility closing.

Indulge in relaxation at our Aquatic Center's sauna! Available throughout our operating hours, the sauna invites you to unwind and rejuvenate whenever you desire. Enjoy the soothing steam in 10-minute increments, allowing you to tailor your experience to fit your schedule.

Personal Training Packages: Packages must be used in their entirety by the end of the semester in which they were purchased. Unused sessions do not roll over to consecutive semesters and cannot be refunded.

Nutrition Counseling with Pawsitive Nutrition

Elevate your well-being with personalized nutrition counseling in partnership with the GSU Nutrition Department.The nutrition team will guide you through offering practical advice and customized strategies to help you achieve and maintain a balanced and nourishing lifestyle.

• In-person and Virtual Nutrition Consultations are available on Wednesdays.

• Services include individualized goal setting such as increasing muscle mass, mindful eating, portion control, improving food choices, and more.

• Body composition analysis using state of the art InBody380 available for In-Person appointments only.

Equipment Orientation

Curious about how our equipment works? Not sure how to use a particular piece of equipment? Fitness Staff on duty are available to assist with questions about strength and cardio machines, including proper use, settings, and a few safety tips to help you feel comfortable in the fitness center.

Small Group Personal Training

Build confidence in the weight room during this small group led by our Personal Training staff. Participants will learn foundational movement patterns and receive an introduction to strength and cardio equipment in a supportive small group setting. Perfect for those looking to get comfortable and get started in the weight room.

Join our Personal Trainers and fitness staff for an energizing Outdoor Bootcamp. This program features full-body workouts designed to build strength, endurance, and community in a fun outdoor setting. All fitness levels are welcome—come move, sweat, and make the most of your summer.

Participants will learn the fundamentals of this vibrant Latin dance, including basic steps, turns, and partner work.

Great for both beginners and experienced dancers, this clinic will help increase the strength, endurance, and flexibility required for ballet. Friday

Special Fitness Programming

Don’t have enough to form your own team? Sign up as a free agent, and teams can ask you to join their team!

Forfeit Fee Policy:

For league sports, teams will be required to pay a $30 fee if a team forfeits a game. If the team forfeits a game, the captain will be sent a notification through IMLeagues informing them that the team must make the $30 online payment in order to remain eligible to participate. If no forfeits occur, no payment is required.

Women’s Volleyball

National Spotlight:

GSU Blue finished 29th in the nation at the NCVF Championships in Phoenix, with Clarisse Evangelista earning the prestigious ECVA All-Star Player Award.

Tournament Dominance:

Multiple podium finishes including 1st place in the Silver Bracket (Tuscaloosa), Gold Bracket Champions (Kennesaw State), and Silver Bracket Champions at both Georgia Tech and University of North Georgia tournaments.

Men’s Volleyball

Home Court Success:

Hosted two major collegiate tournaments featuring 15 competitive teams statewide.

Winning Streak:

Gold and silver bracket victories across Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Florida State, Alabama, Louisiana Tech, and more.

Top Finishes:

1st Place – Gold Bracket at home on 2/21

1st Place – Gold Bracket at Florida State on 3/7

2nd Place – Gold Bracket at Georgia Tech on 11/8

Billiards (Panther Pool)

Top Competitor in Georgia: Benjamin Manely ranked #1 in the State of Georgia among collegiate billiards players.

Home Events:

Successfully hosted two tournaments featuring UGA and Emory A & B teams.

Swim Club

Regional Success: Placed 10th overall among Southern regional club swim teams.

National Qualification:

Will Trocchi and Sarabeth Brown achieved National Qualifying Times at the South Carolina meet.

Strong Competition:

Earned 7th place against powerhouse programs including UNC, Auburn, Florida, FSU, Clemson, and more.

Fencing Club

Strong Representation:

Athletes competed in foil, sabre, and epee, earning mid-field placements in large competitive brackets.

Season Highlights:

Micaiah finished 33rd of 63 and 27th of 55 in foil. Rachel placed 40th of 48 in sabre. Andy and Ransom represented in epee among nearly 100 fencers.

Team Placement: Finished 11th overall at a major multischool invitational.

Ultimate Frisbee Club

GSU Underground Tournament Champions: Finished the event 7–0, capturing 1st place.

Successful Hosting Home Tournament:

Welcomed 9 collegiate teams from across Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Florida at Panthersville.

Pre-Trip Meeting:

All overnight trips will have a mandatory pre-trip meeting the Tuesday prior to the departure of the trip. Meetings will be held virtually.

Bike Services

At the Touch the Earth Rental center, we offer commuter bike rentals for a maximum rental of three days. Helmets, locks and lights are provided. We also offer tube sales and referrals to local bike shops for bike repairs you may need.

This program offers groups, teams and individuals innovative ways to improve their abilities to work with others through creative problem solving. Parking For Equipment Loading And Unloading

Customers may park temporarily for free behind the Student Recreation Center in the space marked “Touch the Earth.” To gain access, inform the parking attendant you are a Touch the Earth customer.You will be able to park in the provided spaces and given a voucher that must be validated by TTE personnel in order to exit. Do not park on the curb.

Rental Policies

• Reservations can be made up to five days in advance. Payment will be due upon pick up.

• All rentals priced on per night charge, no modifications to this rate will be made.

• A $1 per item per night late fee is charged in addition to the daily rental fee.

Exception: Bikes are charged $10 per night.

• Upon return, all items will receive a full inspection. Pending the number of returns, inspection could take place within a week of return.

• For equipment that needs to be repaired or cleaned, you will be charged $15/ hour, up to original cost of the equipment. Fees associated with these costs will be assessed within a week of equipment return.

• Failure to pay late fees or damages may result in a hold onto your account or suspended rental privileges.

Guidelines

Group exercise classes are FREE and open to all current Georgia State students and employees. Participants must bring their current PantherCard for class entry. Participants must wear appropriate workout attire to the exercise activity. Only closed toe, non-marking athletic shoes are permitted. No boots, flip flops or sandals.
