Membership Information

Membership is limited to faculty, staff, retirees, students and degree holding alumni of Georgia State University. Current students are members through their student fees. Access: All members will sign a waiver with initial membership. PantherCards are required to enter and exit. To request accommodations, please contact the Access and Accommodations Center at access.gsu.edu. During the Fall Semester, the Student Recreation Center will have PantherCard Controlled Access during our operating hours Monday-Friday before 7:30 a.m. and after 8 p.m. and all-day Saturday and Sunday. The back doors (Parking Deck entrance) will be under PantherCard Controlled Access during our operating hours all day Monday-Sunday. During Semester Breaks and Finals Week, the Student Recreation Center will have PantherCard Controlled Access during our operating hours all-day Monday – Sunday. During these times an active PantherCard will be required to access the facility.

Locker Rental: A limited number of lockers will be available starting at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, August 24. One locker per member; per semester. Spring 2027 Locker Renewal: November 16 - December 15. If you do not renew, you must remove your items by December 15. Items not retrieved 14 days after December 15 will be donated to charity. Locker Renewal will be available online. Please visit recreation.gsu.edu for more information.

Guest Fees: Members may bring one guest per visit. Guest fees are $10 per visit. Guests aged 7 and under are free. Each guest 18 and older will be required to sign a waiver and present a form of government issued photo identification. Photos of government issued photo identification will not be accepted. The guest must be accompanied by the member throughout the visit.

The guest will not have access to program registration or programs. During PantherCard Controlled Access hours the following passes will not be available: guest passes, day passes for Retirees, and day passes for Degree Holding Alumni.

Course Times: All times must be attended as a registered participant of class. Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. AND Sunday, 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Prerequisites: Participants must complete a swim-tread-swim evaluation for time.The test includes swimming 150 yards (front crawl or breaststroke), treading water for 2 minutes using only the legs, then swimming 50 yards. In the timed event (1:40), participants swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10 lb. object from 12 feet deep, and return 20 yards on their back while holding the object, exiting the water without using a ladder or steps.

Price: Price is noted student, member. Refunds: Courses that have not met the minimum enrollment requirements will be cancelled, and refunds will be issued. Participants will be notified via email regarding any course notifications. American Red Cross Certifications: Lifeguarding and Adult CPR/AED and First Aid with EpiPen.

Blended Learning: This course includes required online coursework that must be completed before the first-class session. Failure to complete the online portion will result in course failure without a refund. Certification: To earn the certification, participants must meet all prerequisites, attend every class, complete all activities, and pass both the written exam and three final skill assessments. Adult Group Swim Lessons: Each participant of swimming lessons will be provided with their own swimming goggles on first day of lessons after registration. Registration: Scan the QR code or visit myrec.gsu.edu to register.

Session 2

Beginner 1 is designed for new swimmers to build water confidence and learn the fundamentals of freestyle in a group setting. Participants will develop skills in floating, gliding, freestyle, treading water, and deep-water swimming while preparing to pass the water competency test.

Price: Price is noted student, member. Refunds: Swim lessons require advance registration and payment and spots are limited. Swim for Exercise is a group class for swimmers who can pass a swim test and perform basic front crawl and elementary backstroke. Participants will improve endurance, speed, and technique while learning structured swim workouts, interval training, and pacing. Great for Beginner 1 graduates!


Swimming Test

Assess your ability to safely swim in deep water. Participants must jump feet first into 12 feet of water, tread water for one minute, and swim 50 yards continuously without touching the bottom. See a Lifeguard to complete the test!

Sauna

Hours of Operation:

The sauna closes alongside the Aquatic Center, 15 minutes prior to the facility closing. Indulge in relaxation at our Aquatic Center's sauna! Available throughout our operating hours, the sauna invites you to unwind and rejuvenate whenever you desire. Enjoy the soothing steam in 10-minute increments.

Personal Training

Get Ready to Elevate Your Fitness Journey with Personal Training! The ultimate journey for achieving your fitness goals right on campus! Our team of fitness professionals provide you with exceptional personalized training to help you reach your goals. Fitness Assessment: Get insights into your current fitness level with basic fitness tests and set achievable goals with our personal trainers in this goal review session. Fitness Assessments are required before purchasing Personal Training sessions. Space is limited based on trainer availability and client load.

Refund Policy: If a documented medical emergency prevents you from giving at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule your session, you may be eligible for a refund. Email fitnesscenter@gsu.edu for more information. Sessions do not rollover from semester to semester and must be utilized in the semester they are purchased. Nutrition Counseling with Pawsitive Nutrition

Dates: September 2-November 18 Elevate your well-being with personalized nutrition counseling in partnership with the GSU Nutrition Department. The nutrition team will guide you through offering practical advice and customized strategies to help you achieve and maintain a balanced and nourishing lifestyle. • In-person and Virtual Nutrition Consultations are available on Wednesdays. • Services include individualized goal setting such as increasing muscle mass, mindful eating, portion control, improving food choices, and more. • Body composition analysis using state of the art InBody380 available for In-Person appointments only.

Price: Free to currently enrolled students & members. (Exception: Non-students who are members are required to pay a fee for any sport where there is a cost per person, e.g. golf, bowling, etc.) Free Agents: Don’t have enough to form your own team? Sign up as a free agent, and teams can ask you to join their team! Forfeit Fee Policy: For league sports, teams will be required to pay a $30 fee if a team forfeits a game. If the team forfeits a game, the captain will be sent a notification through IMLeagues informing them that the team must make the $30 online payment in order to remain eligible to participate. If no forfeits occur, no payment is required.

High Ropes Challenge Course & Teambuilding Program About the Program The Touch the Earth challenge program offers groups, teams and individual's innovative ways to improve their abilities to work with others through shared experience & creative problem solving. Programs are tailored to meet the goals of each group and can range from community building to intentional team development. Our High Ropes Course & Zipline at Indian Creek (More information about Indian Creek on pg. 30*) offers groups the chance to get outside to work on communication, trust, and collaboration while having a one-of-a-kind shared experience. Customers may park temporarily for free behind the Student Recreation Center in the space marked “Touch the Earth.” To gain access, inform the parking attendant that you are a Touch the Earth customer.You will be able to park in the provided spaces and given a voucher that must be validated by TTE personnel to exit. Do not park on the curb.

Technical Gear is available for rental with approval from the Assistant Director of Outdoors. Please email touchtheearth@gsu.edu or call 404-413-1773 with your request for any of the following items. • Flat Water Canoe / Kayak (sit on) or Stand-up Paddleboards • White Water Kayaks or Rafts & Accessories • Crash Pads All boating rentals come with PFD's, Paddles, Spray Skirts etc.

Rental Policies

Online equipment rental

• All rentals priced per night charge; no modifications to this rate will be made. • Late fee is the daily rate of the item plus $1, continue for each day delayed including weekends. • Upon return, all items will receive a full inspection. Pending the number of returns, inspection could take place within a week of return. • For equipment that needs to be repaired or cleaned, you will be charged $15/ hour, up to the original cost of the equipment. Fees associated with these costs will be assessed within a week of equipment return. • Failure to pay late fees or damages may result in a financial hold onto your account or suspended rental privileges. • Students must be enrolled and fee paying to be eligible to rent equipment
