Divorced, beheaded, died… Divorced, beheaded, survived…
Thank you for joining us as we celebrate the opening of the Civic’s 96th season! It has been my immense pleasure to direct & co-choreograph this production. These young women have worked incredibly hard to deliver an unforgettable theatrical event. Beyond their explosive talent, they have operated as a solid unit; a sisterhood. For that, I am the most proud; theatre is family.
I must acknowledge the tireless work of my creative team: Emma Peterman & Sara Sherman. This has been a true collaborative process. They are both artists at the top of their game and they’ve poured so much into our youth. I’d also like to acknowledge the production staff and designers for their priceless contributions to this (and every) show.
The Civic enriches lives through the art of storytelling; your participation (as an audience) is the last ingredient for the makings of any successful production. Please share the excitement of your experience tonight. Tell a friend, a relative or a neighbor to purchase tickets! Help us to keep the arts alive in our community!
I invite you to “tap in” to the story of each Queen! The aim of our production is to release these women from the patriarchal framework(s) in which society has viewed them over the course of history. SIX The Musical: Teen Edition is a daring exploration of what it means to take charge of your own narrative; an especially crucial message for young women of today. The notion of “Girl Power” is alive and well; you’re about to experience it in full force…
Enjoy the concert,
Anthony J. Hamilton, Artistic Director
