"Leaving Iowa premiered at the Purple Rose Theatre Company on January 22, 2004, in Chelsea, Michigan, directed by Anthony Caselli." Produced by special arrangement with THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY of Woodstock, Illinois.

NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR Remember road trips? Those exquisitely agonizing hours of boredom spent trapped in the car with your family. The back seat of the Plymouth was never roomy enough for me, my sister and the family's dog, a large boxer. My father, always a man on a mission, never wanted to stop, no matter how pressing the need. Perhaps the journey was to Grandma and Grandpa's or a more distant destination. My last road trip with my family (I was in college by this time) Kristin Tyrrell Director was to go camping in the Ozarks with a stop on the way in, yes, Hannibal, Missouri. But no matter how tedious or uncomfortable the trip, there was always time to watch the scenery and to think. And now, after two years of self-imposed inactivity, I find myself craving a good road trip. The ribbon of highway unspooling under the tires. The Midwestern panorama passing the windows of the Subaru. The opportunity for reflection and self-discovery. A journey into the unknown and a chance to come to terms with memories. Thank you for joining us today. Enjoy the journey.
