Director’s Note It is no secret that we are living in a world with a war between authoritarianism and autonomy. Is life so sacred that we tolerate entire cities being decimated without regard for infants, children or women and seniors that we are numb to other parts of the world’s sufferings? But what if? What if you, say, get into a terrible accident and are rendered incapable of caring for yourself? What if life as you know it was gone in a Mary Catherine Redmon heartbeat, but your strong heart and your brain are left Director to torment you as you struggle to regain some remnant of your life back? Autonomy. Over your own body and what happens to it. Or does the government or the medical community have the right to dictate what happens to you? I invite you to see a story of one woman’s determination to control her destiny. I sincerely hope you have an honest conversation with your loved ones about your wishes as you approach death. And I hope you walk away from this production putting yourself in that same situation; hopefully it will nudge you into a conversation that we all tend to ignore. My sincere thanks for your support and attendance.
