French fashion designer Christian Ernest Dior was born on January 21, 1905, and died on October 24, 1957. Most known for founding Dior, one of the finest fashion houses in the world. France’s Normandy coast is home to the beach town of Granville, where Christian Dior was born. A prominent businessman named Marcel Boussac requested Dior to design for Philippe et Gaston, a 1925-founded couture house in Paris, in 1946. Dior declined, preferring to start again with his own name rather than resurrecting an outdated brand. Nonetheless, Dior established his fashion house in 1946 with the support of Boussac, which was unveiled on February 12th, 1947. Consumers choose Dior couture because of its intricate processes, premium fabrics, intricate designs, and expert craftsmanship. The Christian Dior group is currently the tenth most expensive fashion brand in the world, with a recorded revenue of $87 billion in 2022.
