Lieutenant Governor’s Message C

an you believe we are already halfway through the term?! It’s crazy how fast time flies! I hope you are all smoothly making your way through the year and getting excited for the holiday season!

November is a time where clubs usually struggle to retain members because Fall Rally North is over, so I have listed some tips for you and your club to retain all your members: Publicize the other big upcoming events like Key Leader and DCON! Key Leader is fast approaching so make sure to publicize this event a lot!

Continue to make your meetings fun and energetic to keep members in the Key Club spirit (have incentives for members to keep showing up to meetings like recognition, food, or spirit gear) Emphasize the importance of dues and involvement in Key Club Do you know what our division has been able to accomplish so far this term? It is amazing the progress we have made as a division, and I am so proud of all you Aqua Apes! Check out what we did: This last month we had 11 out of 12 clubs submit their Monthly Report Forms! That is an amazing improvement from previous months.

Raised over $3400 for the Pediatric Trauma Program! (we exceeded our goal of $3000!)

Approaching our division service hour goal with 3013 hours out of our 4000 goal!

But wait! We have so many more amazing opportunities for you that are coming up, and to find out what these opportunities are, you need to make sure that you are keeping up with our division emails, Facebook group posts, and your officers at club meetings.

But wait, there’s more! Dues season is already here, and you should be paying your dues to your officers so you can continue to be an official member of Key Club! Being an official member presents you with so many more fun opportunities and the money you pay goes toward so many other great things. So remember, you have until December 1st to become an official Key Club member.

This past month we volunteered at Pet Pride Day. We also had more members attend the September DCM, but sadly none of us wentto RTC. Hopefully we can get more members to attend more events this month.

Aragon

September was another busy month for our club as Aragon Aqua Apes continued to go bananas for service! We when to several different service events throughout the year such as the Bayfront Cleanup, the Autumn Moon Festival, Relay for Life and the San Bruno Mountain Cleanup. Whew, what a list. 7 Key Clubbers from Aragon attended RTC and had an amazing experience listening to workshops, screaming their lungs out for their groups and rapping along to the explosively hot and fire song, "Man's Not Hot" by Roadman Shaq. We had 13 members attend the first Fall Rally Prep day and we expect even more to attend the next one on October 15th! Fall Rally is also coming up and Aragon Key Clubbers are hyped. We expect a strong turnout of turnt Aqua Apes and another fire video from our Secretary Richard Tang.

Westmoor

This month Westmoor Key Club has been preparing for Fall Rally North, as well as helping our community.

During our meetings, we practice cheers and try to engage our mem bers. We are also trying to look for ways to try to create a better bond with our members either through socials or ice breakers. Westmoor Key Club is also looking for ways to retain members after FRN, by having incentives. On September 24th, Westmoor Key Clubbers volunteered at Lake Merced for the Lung Cancer Foundation Marathon. Aside from everything we also have started collecting dues.

San Mateo

This month, San Mateo High School’s Key Club officially started meeting, after our school’s Volunteer Faire. After growing our member base almost twofold, we began to focus on publicizing our events and our cause, setting up social media platforms and preparing our website before its launch in November. In addition, we started to prepare our members for FRN and dues season, educating them about the Pediatric Trauma program, UNICEF, and other organizations that Key Club helps. We have also begun planning some of our first service projects, introducing a new initiative to increase member involvement in projects. After FRN, we plan to host some fundraisers in time for the holiday season.

Hillsdale

With an increasing amount of active members, Hillsdale Key Club is going for the most improved club of October and November. Our members attended division events such as Walk to end Alzheimer and Regional Training Conference. Of course, we also participate in weekly volunteering events such as the SF-Food Bank, Beach cleanups, and Habitat Restorations. We're planning on attending other events like the division cleanup at Coyote and Fall Rally North in this upcoming month.

El Camino

This past month El Camino hosted the division fundraiser with the Trivia Contest, which was a major success. We not only raised money for PTP, but also raised awareness for the cause and promoted Key Club. We also spent a lot of time encouraging members to attend FRN. This year, we have a record of over 20 people going from El Camino, the most in recent years. We planned on having a beach clean-up but delayed it due to severe air conditions. Hopefully, the air quality clears up after Fall Rally North so that we can have one or two more beach clean-ups before the weather begins to chill for winter. We are also planning to volunteer at the Martin Elementary Fall Carnival, the Boys and Girls Club Monster Bash, and various holiday cookie packaging events throughout the rest of October.

Carlmont

Carlmont Key Club has had a great month of November for we have made over $1000 dollars through fundraisers such as selling Boba at our school or selling water bottles at events. We have also had many service events and high attendance at events. For example we got a record 14 people plus 2 advisors to come to RTC! We just had our board meeting and are planning to have an eventful October.

South San Francisco

In the last month, South City Key Club went to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, 3 beach cleanups, and an IPP planting events. We hosted the September DCM/FRN Prep and had around 70 people attend. In addition to the DCM, we had a boba fundraiser for PTP. In October, we started Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF and created committees so the members we recruited during club rush would get leadership opportunities. Finally, we sent 14 members and 3 advisors to RTC and won the spirit stick during the DCM. In the next few weeks, we plan on teaching all the members the new chants for FRN and doing FRN Registration.

Regional Trainin

On the weekend of September 30 to October 1, over 400 Key Clubbers, Kiwanians and advisors from Regions 9 and 17 attended Region Training Conference at Camp Jones Gulch. The weekend started off with opening session, which included an introduction to the event paired along with a skit by the LTGs of Region 9 and 17 and District PIE Chair Kai Catarata. After opening session came workshops, a Keynote session and group time with our respective groups. Following these came the campfire at the end of the night where group skits were performed and cheers were chanted. The next morning began with each division's DCM, followed by games and closing session to wrap up Region Training Conference 2017.

Pet Pride Day

On October 1st, Sunday, Lowell Key Club volunteered at Pet Pride Day. Pet Pride Day is a great event where animal lovers can bring their animals and participate in fun games, activities, and meet other adorable animals. You can still come if you don't have a pet and there were dogs, rabbits, and cats! Lowell Key Club had a blast volunteering at Pet Pride Day and we had around 16 members who volunteered.

El Camino’s Key Club Trivia Contest

It was a great fundraiser for it was not only for the benefit of PTP and key club, but it was also a huge benefit for my club being that right at the beginning of the year it gave us publicity and funds. it was a fun experience and is definitely an event Key Club should do again!

Autumn Moon Festival On Sunday September 24th, from 9am There were so many volunteers at this event so there was very little for me to do. 1100 On Saturday, September 2nd, South City's Key Club went to Rockaway Beach from 1000 8-11AM. There were about 15 members including manly new freshman which was nice.

We walked around and picked up trash, including about 600 cigarette butts. After we finished we had some bonding time for us to better know the freshman. We finished at 900 11 AM. Patrick Choi SSFHS 800
