Lieutenant Governor’s Message Aloha Aqua Apes!

Can you believe it? We made it to the end of our 2017-2018 term! It has been such an honor and privilege serving you all and I hope you had just as much fun this year as I did! Since I will be retiring soon, I just want to give a few pieces of advice I hope you carry with you not just through high school but through your entire lives.

There are many people that I am thankful for and all of you that are a part of Key Club are some of them. I am thankful for all the advisors and chaperones that have made our biggest events possible, the hardworking and dedicated officers that promote the Key Club spirit, and all of the APE-tastic members that continue to serve our community! I hope and aim to maintain all of these amazing RELATIONSHIPS through my entire life and hope you all can do the same. The more friends the merrier!

Nothing will be handed over to you, and besides, there is something extremely rewarding about knowing you earned something. There will be many OPPORTUNITIES offered to you in life, so take initiative and take advantage of them! Whether it’s for school, Key Club, or other extracurricular activities, use every opportunity to your benefit and go after your goals. Even if no opportunities are handed to you, make your dreams happen because you all have the potential to do amazing things.

Something that can get rid of all your life drama is summed up in one word: COMMUNICATION. It’s a simple concept, but circumstances and context can make communication seems intimidating or sometimes impossible. Whether it’s for work or for personal issues, communicating your emotions and opinions is extremely important not just for yourself, but for everyone around you.

Don’t be afraid to communicate your ideas to people and make sure to assert yourself when you need to!

One of the key things I have learned throughout my term was learning to be open minded and kind to every single person you meet. You can never completely understand someone’s backstory until you get to know them, so making sure you’re KIND and understanding to people can make the biggest difference in someone’s day.

Now that you’ve read through some life lessons, I want to end with saying you all have amazing potential and I believe in each and every single one of you to make a difference in this world. I hope you all had a blast ROCKING out with me this term, and I’ll see you all around next year!!!

that we have done. We may not have done much over this past year, but with the next group of officers I hope things will be different this time around. With the addition of two more officers to the board, I’m sure Lowell Key Club will be able to accomplish much more. I have high hopes for the new officers and believe that they will do great things. Even though I may no longer be an officer, I will always be here to support my members.

n the last month South San Francisco had numerous service events such as Park Clean Ups and Cookie packaging. We took 2 weeks to finalize elections and the new officers for the next term are solidified. We are currently updating the website and collecting money for Thirsty30, Banquet, DCON, and Division Sweatshirts.

San Mateo

This month, San Mateo High concludes the term by bringing togeth-

er the final pieces of our story. From bringing in new board members, to fully implementing our new service motives, we have been able to make new goals for our new term. We look forward to celebrating our division’s achievements with the last DCM and the end of year banquet. Next month, we plan to start the new term, and have started to work with new board members to ensure the continuation of our goals.

In the past weeks, Westmoor Key Club has been winding down toward the end of the term, and has planned and carried out elections. The new executive board is currently shadowing each officer and learning how to take on their position for the next term. Additionally, we are trying to focus on getting member attendance up at the two last events of the term.

Chinatown Run 2018 was an amazing event

where I met new people and had a ton of events. We arrived early in the morning to set up tables and prepared for the runners. I filled up red bags with goods such as yogurt, coupons, candy, and much more.

When the runners finally arrived at the finish line, the rest of the volunteers and I passed out the bags to the exhausted runners who thanked us very graciously. We had lots of fun packing the bags and even more when meeting the runners. When the runners flooded the finish area, the volunteers quickly hurried into a frenzy to volunteer and help out as many volunteers as possible.

Annual Crab Fe The Crab Feed Fundraiser took place at San Carlos

Adult Community Center on the 24th of February. This fundraiser was to support the San Carlos Adult Community class and lunch programs. At the event twelve members from Carlmont Key Club volunteered to serve a crab dinner to two-hundred guests. Volunteers along with members of the Community center provided hospitality by serving food and attending to guests needs. After the dinner, volunteers cleaned tables. During the event volunteers were given tips that help fund Carlmont Key Club.

As a member who participated, it was an extremely enjoyable event to attend because I was able to talk to the guest who were very friendly, and I was joined by fellow colleagues who were members of Key Club, making the work more entertainable. I would definitely attend the next one, and recommend other members to participate in the next Crab Feed.
