Kay Bojesen (1886 - 1958) was a Danish silversmith and craftsman, known and recognised for his functionalistic designs, that are celebrated as iconic pieces of Danish design heritage.
His silver works are characterised by organic curves and minimalistic, clean silhouettes, working in a beautiful interplay with the alluring reflections of the silver surfaces.
In 1938 Kay Bojesen presented his first cutlery series in silver. It was awarded with the first prize, Grand Prix, at the prestigious Triennale di Milano in 1951, which the cutlery was then named after.
The cutlery was designed to fit in the palm of any hand and provide a natural sense of balance and functionality. It is considered one of Kay Bojesen’s most beloved designs, found in homes, embassies and world class restaurants all over the world.
Kay Bojesen was personally appointed ’Purveyor to His Majesty the King of Denmark’ in 1952 for long and regular trade with the Royal Court; a title that has now been sustained through 70 years.
