01 CONTEMPORARY SABZI MANDI Studio - Semester 6

Project data Type : Commercial Built Area : 964.214 sq m Plot Area : 3586.472 sq m Location : Mehrauli, Delhi A community driven initiative to cater for commerce adjacent to the commercial spine road of Mehrauli.

The new urban bazaar focuses on fostering a sense of local culture through contemporary elements of construction while also allowing for creative community engagement amidst the dense inhabitation that is Mehrauli. The project is thus envisioned as a holistic community space promoting small scale trade whilst reinforcing the history and the dense social fabric.

The green roof acts a community recreation space for the densely overcrowded populace, substituting for the lack of open collaborative greens in the context of the site.

The open marketplace has public access via the central courtyard whilst the basement is accessible only from within the smaller shop units by the retailer/owner.

Outlet sizes are predetermined but flexible within the modules to allow for easy modification of smaller units to larger ones predicated on the products traded, with each shop module connected to the basement storage of the containing module.

SEGREGATION OF THE CIRCULATION SYSTEM The current haphazard circulation within the site wreaks havoc amidst the user base. The lack of distinction for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic combined with the narrow entryways of the site often leads to chaos during the Mandi hours.

The inherent diminishing gradient of the site is modified to create site levels ,with the addition of a vehicular entryway toward the descending site boundary to allow for vehicular supply and user function entry to directly access the basement of the site which had provisions for parking and storage of the site.

Meanwhile the existing road entr(ies) were open to the non vehicular users,thus solely facilitating pedestrianisation on the ground level.

BUILDING ENVELOPE Simple,cost effective, vernacular materials in a contemporary characteristic, blending the present with the past and creating a space that seamlessly marries modern functionality with timeless elegance.

Traditional Brick jali used on substantial parts of the envelope to combat the scorching heat while also establishing transparecy of modules with the users without hindering privacy

Exposed raw concrete bands pertaining to a modern architectural style thus seamlessly blending the present with its essential past

South facing louvers on green roofs allowing for maximum usability in the outdoor environment

FOSTERING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT The outstanding engaging social fabric of Mehrauli is perpetuated through adapting design elements incorporated from the Mehrauli culture to the contemporary architecture setting.These elements, though modest, act as catalysts to facilitate the persisting interactive coexistence of the ever thriving community.

02 VERDE ENCLAVES Studio - Semester 7

Project data Type : Housing Built Area : 3.2 acres Plot Area : 12 acres Location : Bhalswa, Delhi A thoughtfully designed residential community catering to the spontaneous settlements of its context ,while tackling contemporary issues pertaining to group housing projects and embracing the joy of community living.The project aims to facilitate interactive living through the medium of green spaces,both vertical and horizontal, thus encouraging a healthy, social lifestyle for its residents.

FORM DEVELOPMENT

CONCEPT A commune - oriented group housing scheme catering to the major housing needs of its context , with instigators to foster a sense of gathering and catalyse socialisation while retaining the connection of the ground to its user.

COMMERCIAL SEGREGATION

Courtyards have been created among towers as a shared green owing to the harsh climate conditions of Delhi.

They have been oriented in lieu of the sunpath to constitute a shaded versatile common green allowing for social interaction.

Providing commercial kiosks as a part of the landscape to accomodate interaction within the greens while also allowing for a healthier lifestyle via ease of access to the user. (restorative society)

03 PERSONAL WORK HARDSCAPE DEVELOPMENT AND RENDERING Unreal Engine

Contextual Framework A recreational cabin amidst hilly terrains as a retreat from the repititive humdrum of everyday. Surrounded by towering pines and the soothing whispers of rustling leaves, the cabin presents a perfect sanctuary for those seeking solace in their restful escape.

Contextual Framework Nestled within the undulating landscape of the hilly retreat lies a captivating water crevice, sheltered amidst enormous moss boulders and enveloped by lofty pines. Sunlight filters through the dense canopy, casting a gentle glow upon the moss-covered rocks that frame the entrance. In the heart of the crevice, a tranquil pool reflects the surrounding greenery like a liquid mirror. The serene blue unfolds as a natural masterpiece from the recreational cabin, imparting tranquility and solitude to the viewer.
