I assist MES II and MES II’s in troubleshooting their questions pertaining to HSA, IRA, and specialty accounts (guardianship and representative payee accounts), complete quality control on new deposit accounts, review monthly IRA reports and complete IRA tax reporting, and assist my team in any additional projects that come up.

How would you describe your job to a 5 year old?

I make sure new accounts are opened properly.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

Depending on the time of month or year, it varies, but normally I audit new accounts to ensure forms are completed and accounts converted to DNA properly. Projects come up periodically that need immediate attention.

What’s something people don’t know about your job?

Maybe something that people do not think about when it comes to accounts is that I also assist Collections in reviewing checklists that come through for deceased members.

How does your position benefit Members? Employees? What’s its purpose?

My position helps MES II’s/MES III’s approach specialty accounts with more ease, which instills confidence in the service members receive.

What’s the coolest thing you are working on right now?

May is a busy month. I am working on IRA notices, which must be sent out to members who have a periodic distribution from an IRA.

What does your ideal day off look like?

My ideal day off would be spent at a ballpark watching live baseball….with maybe a cold refreshment. Go Brew Crew!

What is your favorite aspect of your job?

I enjoy the variety, from the technical aspect of account audits to corresponding with colleagues to ensure members’ needs are being directly met.

What is something your family did that you thought was normal as a kid, but when you grew up you found out that it’s not?

My family would have dinner together every night. I know it’s more difficult now for families to be able to sit down and share a meal together with the busyness life brings, but times and circumstances are different.

Which holiday has the best food?

By far Thanksgiving.

If you had a sailboat, what would you name it?

The Thirsty Captain. Do you believe in ghosts?

I do….I do. I do. I do.

What is your gas station snack order?

Arnie Palmer Lite and Combos. Are sports technically reality TV?

Some of it probably is, but some of the talented athletes would be hard to script. I don’t think Shohei Ohtani needs any lines or prompts.
