Session 1: Pastel Puppies.

OBJECTIVE: Completed small painting from photo incorporating student choice of colours.

MATERIALS (PROVIDED BY ANN.RUSSELL.ART): • • • • • •

Assortment of pastels and pastel pencils 1 sheet colorfix pastel paper/person Fixative Cloths for hands Variety of smudge tools Reference photos

LESSON: 95 MINS. • • • • •

Students are given reference photos and pastel paper.

Drawing of basic outlines in discussion with students about shapes they can see.

Blocking in basic colours and tones Layers to provide more detail Final details.

Session 3: Undersea Jellyfish Scene

OBJECTIVE: Completed A3 painting of coral and jellyfish using watercolour and oil pastel.

MATERIALS (PROVIDED BY ANN.RUSSELL.ART): • • • • • • • • •

Watercolour paint and palettes Watercolour paper Oil pastel Brushes Water containers Paper Towel Salt Sequins and final additions PVA glue

Students are given watercolour paper and draw basic outlines Colour coral outlines using oil pastel Add white bubbles using oil pastel Paint coral Draw/paint Jellyfish Add watercolour for water Add salt to create patterns Add any sequins etc as required.

Session 4: Beach Scene

OBJECTIVE: Completed A3 painting of beach scene in watercolour

Watercolour paint and palettes Watercolour paper White Oil pastel Facial Tissues Brushes Water containers Paper Towel

Students are given watercolour paper and draw basic outlines Render sky using tissue to begin creation of clouds Add oil pastel for breaking waves and paint ocean and beach Paint dunes using a variety of colours Paint grasses using at least 4 colours Add fence post Add extra tone to clouds and water
