Eatons Hill Santa Returns for 7th Magical Year

In its 7th consecutive year, the much-anticipated Eatons Hill Santa Parade is set to captivate the community once again on Friday 15th December, concluding with a festive Community Family Movie Night at Wantima Country Club.

The visionary behind this annual extravaganza, local resident David Williams, ensures that each year surpasses the last, with an increasing number of hearts coming together in celebration. Williams, a driving force behind the event, collaborates with a dedicated team to orchestrate the parade, giving due credit to the local emergency services, volunteers, and businesses for their unwavering support and active participation. The festivities kick off at 4.45pm, as the unmistakable sound of sleigh bells, Santa's jolly "ho-ho-ho," and a procession of emergency vehicles escorting the man in red weave through Eatons Hill. The designated routes for this year's parade are Bunya Park Drive and Saraband Drive, with any updates available on the Eatons Hill Santa Facebook page. Founded on the commitment of local emergency services to deliver Christmas cheer while promoting essential safety messages, Eatons Hill Santa emphasizes the importance of road safety, home and personal safety, and having a practiced fire escape plan, all while spreading festive joy. As the vibrant, light-filled procession winds through the community, smiles abound on the faces of children and adults alike, with David Williams expressing, ‘The community looks forward to the event each year.’ This year, the Wantima Country Club has joined the festivities, providing a venue for the Community Family Movie Night. 35g (1/3 cup) cocoa powder 290g pkt dark choc melts Aero peppermint block, sliced, to decorate

125ml (1/2 cup) sweetened condensed milk

Method

Step 1: Place the biscuits in a food processor and process until finely crushed. Add the sweetened condensed milk and cocoa and process until the mixture starts to come together into a ball. Transfer to a bowl and place in the fridge for 10 minutes to firm. Step 2: Line a baking tray with baking paper. Roll 2 teaspoonfuls of the chocolate mixture into balls and transfer to prepared tray. Place in the fridge for 10 minutes to chill. Step 3: Meanwhile, place the choc melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave, on Medium, stirring every minute with a metal spoon, for 2-3 minutes or until melted and smooth. Step 4: Use a fork to dip balls into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off. Return to the tray. Top with Aero to decorate. Set aside for 5 minutes to set.

Toy Drive Honours an Angel

Five-year-old Emily Borg, a deeply loved member of our community, has devastatingly lost her battle against a rare cancer. To honour their angel’s passing, Emily’s family has organised a Christmas toy drive for children at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. ‘It is with broken hearts and shattered dreams that we share with you that our light and our laughter—our daughter Emily—left us yesterday for her next big adventure,’ writes her mother, Emma Cantrell. Emma and her partner Brodie Borg’s world changed forever on Wednesday 1st March, 2023, when their little girl was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. Emily’s condition was initially mistaken for a viral infection and consequent inflammation of the hip joint when she developed a limp and lost her appetite entirely. However, in lieu of Emma acting on mother’s intuition, further tests were undertaken, and a grapefruit-sized tumour was discovered in Emily’s abdomen. Within four weeks, the cancer had spread to her spine, her bones, and her head. While receiving the best possible care at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, Emily underwent 6 months of intensive chemotherapy treatment and surgery.. It wasn’t until June 28th, 2023, that Emily’s surgeon, Dr Borzi, emerged from the operating theatre with nothing short of a miracle: ‘I got it all,’ he told Emily’s family, regarding the last remnants of Emily’s tumour. However, celebrations were cut short when Emily developed a rare infection after receiving a bone marrow transplant—her eventual cause of passing. Sadly, Emily would have overcome the infection if she were not immunocompromised after receiving intense chemotherapy. Emma writes, ‘Emily left us in the same way she came to us: in our arms, surrounded by love, with no trace of cancer in her body. ‘In spite of everything Emily faced…[she] was the picture of childhood happiness, yet she endured a nightmare beyond comprehension. In her short time with us, she taught us more about life and love, and resilience and strength, than we would have ever learned without her.’

Emily last Christmas opening her presents. Little did her family know this would be her last Christmas with them. To spread awareness and honour their gorgeous girl, Emily’s family arranged for a local toy drive to take place. To put smiles on sick children’s faces this Christmas, they have set up a Christmas tree—dubbed ‘Emily’s Tree’—at Whisk & Grind Cafe, 6 Bunya Park Drive, Eatons Hill. The tree will be used as a drop off point, where community members can donate new toys to patients at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. Now, two more drop off points have opened: LJ Hooker Albany Creek on 5/25 Ferguson Street, and Professionals Priority Ferny Hills on 5/126 Ferny Way. As Emily’s family is overwhelmed by our community’s enormous generosity, so is Emily’s Tree, with hundreds of donations from kind-hearted locals now surrounding it. The initial goal of 500 presents is sure to be broken soon, but locals are urged to keep them coming! All toy donations will be delivered to the hospital on December 18th. To dearest Emily, we thank your pure heart and kind soul for rubbing off on our community. Your unwavering spirit has reminded us that to simply keep smiling is all that matters. You will be remembered and missed by all.

Leon Field—The Best in His Field

In the world of gymnastics, dedication and sheer persistence are the cornerstones of success. For 11-year-old local gymnast Leon Field, these qualities have been at the core of his inspiring journey for the past three years. Being a grade 6 student on the brink of high school, Leon dedicates most of his afterschool hours to competitive gymnastics. His journey began at Lawnton Gymnastics Club, where he took the leap of joining a team 12 months ago. From the get-go, Leon was determined to follow in the footsteps of successful Lawnton athletes. In order to stand among the best, he understood that he’d need to work with the club’s top-notch coaches and supportive team environment, which drove him to sign up to the club in the first place. Of course, it has all paid off in his favour. While he continues to climb the ranks at Lawnton, his current goal is to achieve working at the prestigious levels of 5 and 6 in the sport. Leon tells Echo News that his favourite elements of the sport are performing on the high bar, pommel, and rings. So, what's next for this ambitious gymnast? After just missing out last year due to results, Leon’s heart is set on making Queensland’s development team in 2023. Having unwavering commitment to reach this long-standing goal, Leon is Leon Field with team mates determined to train harder and

prove himself a second time round. Leon also dreams of being selected for the coveted Team Future group, which would allow him to train at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra a few times a year. However, Leon’s gymnastics journey is not simply about what he aspires to achieve; it's also about the support and opportunities he's found along the way. He is set to be part of the Ferny Advanced Sporting Teams at Ferny Grove High School next year. This program is tailor-made for individual athletes, like Leon, to achieve their sporting goals, all while striving to maximize their performance in their chosen sports. It's a testament to the support system that surrounds Leon and his fellow athletes as they chase their dreams. Leon’s inspiring story is a reminder that, with hard work and the right foundations, we can all achieve our dreams. The future is bright for this young gymnast, and we are thrilled to see what heights he will reach.

Spreading Joy on Wheels!

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Stuart Murray, a local resident, discovered an opportunity to make a difference when he realized he had enough spare bike parts to construct an entire bicycle.

Noting the financial challenge many face in affording mountain bikes suitable for off-road single-track riding, Stuart’s observation sparked an inspiring idea which he took to his local club, the North Brisbane MTB club. Stuart proposed the idea of members pooling their spare parts to assemble bikes for donation to those in need. The suggestion received enthusiastic support from the club and its members, leading to a concerted effort to restore and upgrade not just one but two full bikes. The collective effort kicked off with the club gathering to dismantle the bikes and assess necessary components for the rebuild. However, word soon got around the Mountain Biking community and quickly gained traction beyond expectations. The Mountain Biker shop in Stafford magnanimously donated an additional two bikes and extended support by aiding in assembly and sourcing essential parts for the bikes. Recognising the bikes' weathered condition, the club sought a solution, reaching out to Ben Wallis Paints. Ben, showing immense generosity produced two unique and special designs at cost, repainting the bikes and adding a touch of vibrancy. While progress flourished with the bikes' restoration, the club pondered the best means to put the bikes to use within the community. Stuart suggested collaborating with OpentraX, a local small business dedicated to introducing individuals of

varying ability levels to outdoor activities in a supportive and secure environment. The club unanimously decided to donate the bikes to OpentraX, ensuring these bicycles find riders who can experience the joy of mountain biking. This wonderful initiative wouldn't have been possible without the collective efforts and support from various quarters. The North Brisbane MTB Club members, Darren and his team at "The Mountain Biker" in Stafford, and Ben from Ben Wallis Paints who all played pivotal roles in bringing this benevolent project to fruition. This incredible initiative not only refurbishes bikes but also embodies the true essence of community compassion and inclusivity. It's a shining example of how a shared passion for biking can translate into making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Local Concerns Voiced Over Eatons Crossing Road Upgrade and Tree Clearing

Many residents in the area have expressed their concerns about the recent spate of significant tree clearings associated with the Eaton's Crossing Road Upgrade. The Eatons Crossing Road project falls within the ambit of the state government's control. Funded and executed by the Queensland Government and the Department of Transport and Main Roads. The project aims to improve safety along this busy road which sees 7,000 to 14,000 vehicles use various sections of this road every day. The final design of the project includes an upgrade of the Eatons Crossing Road and Lilley Road intersection to a signal-controlled intersection, as well as safety improvements to a number of other intersections along the corridor as outlined in the ‘Key Features’ box on the right. However, to make way for these improvements such as road widening, safety barriers, cycle lanes etc a number of trees have had to be removed. Needless to say this has raised much concern from local residents, notably the sizeable number of trees removed around the Lilley Road intersection. Although this portion of land around the Lilley Road intersection was originally part of City of Moreton Bay’s recent Environmental Land Buyback, a small portion of the land was acquired by the Queensland Government prior to the commencement of roadworks. Council is subject to land resumptions by other governmental tiers, which is an aspect beyond their control. These concerns have been raised with local Councillor Cath Tonks, who offered an insight into the land acquisition.

‘Living locally, I can appreciate and understand the concerns raised with the significant amount of tree clearing for the upgrade,’ explains Cnr Tonks. ‘Whilst this outcome isn’t ideal, the land size that Council purchased is 12.75ha. The amount resumed by the Queensland State Government for the upgrade is 226m2, leaving a total amount of 12.72ha land, which remains under Council’s management as part of the Land Buyback for Environmental

Firstly, I must thank my fellow volunteers for their enthusiasm and hardwork throughout the year. These ladies are truly workaholics! Secondly, we all thank the general public for their support, whether it's Angela offering us a coffee, or Craig, who lives next to the park, helping us spread the mulch. It makes our day when someone comes through the park & heaps complements on us! We cannot overlook the continued support from our esteemed MBRC Councillor Cath Tonks and MP Tim Mander, whose ongoing encouragement has been pivotal to our endeavors. Throughout the year, we established a beneficial arrangement with the local cafe, 'Wiseguys,' to recycle its coffee grounds, which not only serves both parties but also enriches the soil with nitrogen. We extend our gratitude to Jimmy, the cafe owner, for his collaboration and support, who is not only being a 'wise guy' but a nice guy. There are a few challenges at the park like in any park/garden but I would site two experiences which I did not appreciate : the theft of the fairy garden last December/January. The children from next door 'Green Leaves' assembled it with items donated by us - disappointed children I assure you when it was stolen! Another item stolen was a garden hose. On behalf of my fellow volunteers, I ask the public to keep supporting us in our endeavour to continue to make Mahaca an attractive park/garden for all to enjoy. Halloween Haunts for BOO-tiful Causes

By Georgia Wright Halloween, with its infectious spirit of generosity, is a magical time when celebration brings people together.

In tribute to Sharyn’s late sister, she continues to transform her spooky props into spooktacular master pieces that can be see here.

Boundaries between neighbours blur, and streets adorned with pumpkin heads and plastic bat wings become a shared canvas for creativity. The immersive nature of the season also provides a platform for fundraisers to channel the seasonal thrill into support for good causes. Even on a night crawling with ghosts and ghouls, the goodwill of our community is all around. Sharyn Fridolf-Merrin’s Carn-Evil spook-tacular at Mattie Lee Court, Joyner, was amongst Brisbane’s best Halloween fundraising efforts—and best haunted venues. Having lost her twin sister, Kaz, two years ago, Sharyn now finds solace in celebrating their relationship through Halloween. Both sisters are avid animal lovers, whose pets have all been rescued. Death Row Unchained is an organization that rescues and cares for animals in need, which of course, closely resonates with Sharyn. Due to their reliance on the service of volunteers for funding, Sharyn decided this was the charity for which Carn-Evil would raise money. This year, with Carn-Evil’s introduction of a gold coin donation dubbed ‘Coffin for a Cause’, $2000 has been raised. Sharyn’s initiative has been so well-received by the public that donations of money, food, and animal products are still ongoing! But the motivation behind Sharyn’s spooktacular is only the tip of the iceberg. Carn-Evil itself, as a haunted house, spooky maze, prime trick-or-treat location, and overall crowdfavourite display, is news-worthy enough. At the end of a driveway decorated with animatronic zombies, gravestones, creepy dolls and spooky skeletons, stood Sharyn’s property, alive and hellish. Ghoulish figurines—twice the size of man—lined the lip of the attraction, greeting trick-or-treaters alongside Sharyn and her team. From front to backyard, every inch of the property was masterfully decorated. There was even a replica of an Egyptian tomb, filled with souvenirs Sharyn collected in Egypt, as well as a themed front entrance originally from the Gold Coast’s King Tutt’s Putt Putt. Sharyn shares that one of her favourite sections was the mental institution themed operation theatre, fit with sadistic, knifewielding doctors dripping in gore. She shares, ‘My twin was bipolar and struggled with mental health issues. There have been some horrific treatments in the past to patients with mental health.’ Perhaps the coolest element of all was Carn-Evil’s reliance on repurposed items to deliver the best scares. For instance, Sharyn’s carousel was made from a broken trampoline and cane chair, the clown in the canon was a broken bile, slippery slide, pot plant, and pool noodles, and the cotton candy and popcorn stands were nappy change tables! ‘Kaz used to pick up discarded furniture off the side of the road and repurpose it into something amazing,’ explains Sharyn. ‘I have always loved Halloween and costumes, so I decided to do my haunt in memory of Kaz and create many of my spectacular props from rubbish!’ With no pun intended, props go to you, Sharyn, for putting a smile (or scream) on so many Halloween celebrators’ faces that night. HT Ireland Reserve Seeks Public Input for Redesign

HT Ireland Reserve in Eatons Hill is gearing up for a revamp of its dirt jumps, and the consultation phase is officially open for riders, enthusiasts, and the community at large to voice their opinions.

The City of Moreton Bay Council recognises the popularity of the existing dirt jumps among users who frequently modify them to suit their preferences and skill levels, and Council aims to collaborate with users to comprehend the specific requirements for the space. The objective is to create a facility that aligns better with user needs, reducing the necessity for extensive earthworks by both Council and users. Additionally, plans to introduce a new scooter track, necessitating minor adjustments to a section of the dirt jumps are underway. This redesign aims to accommodate various rider abilities and interests within HT Ireland Reserve. Now is the opportune moment for community members to express their insights on how to enhance the space to cater effectively to riders of diverse skill levels. Input is also encouraged regarding the envisioned aesthetics, ambiance, and functionality of the area and individuals are welcome to share their experiences with comparable facilities they might have used elsewhere. This call for feedback from the community is pivotal in addressing the needs of the expanding community of riders, encompassing both local enthusiasts and those from across Moreton Bay. Bridgeman Christmas Festival Celebrates 10 Years

One of Brisbane’s biggest community Christmas events is celebrating its tenth year and it’s back better than ever. Bridgeman Baptist’s, Christmas Lights Festival on December 13-15 will feature thousands of lights, two unique shows, food, markets, carnival rides, carollers plus much more. “We’re so excited to be welcoming the crowds again to celebrate the season,” said Senior Pastor Nathan Harris. “Christmas is a time for coming together and this is a perfect opportunity to invite family and friends out for a night of joy and fun.” The festival is free with the only costs being food, market items and carnival rides. “Lights Festival has been an important community event for 10 years now and it’s been special to see how well it’s been received by locals with up to 8,000 thousand joining us across the three-nights,” Harris said. Since the early 2000’s Bridgeman hosted a well-attended ‘Carols in the Park’ event but in 2014 following several rained-out events pivoted to multifaceted festival which has grown year on year. The event hit global headlines in 2022 with stories featured in the BBC, The Guardian and The Jerusalem Post amongst others when three camels used for a nativity scene escaped and ventured down a nearby road in the lead up to the event captivating motorists. ‘Cyrus’, ‘Benjamin’ and ‘Morgie’ returned safely and will be back again in 2023. The display of Christmas lights is set to wow crowds again this year most talented musicians and 400+ volunteers that make the event happen across three nights. The theme for the festival is ‘All is Well. God with us.’ a fitting theme for a year of turmoil locally and globally. The event will also be raising funds for ‘Hope & Care for Little Souls’ a charity that brings hope to at-risk and parentless children in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Run With Rob’s Annual Gala Ball: A Smashing Success

By Georgia Wright On Saturday November 11th, members of Run With Rob gathered amongst sponsors and supporters to celebrate a year of fundraising efforts. The blacktie event, dubbed their second Annual Gala Ball, was hosted at the Kedron-Wavell Club by MC’s Counsellor Cath Tonks and John Dangerfield.

More determined and greater in numbers than ever, the Run With Rob community spent 2023 pouring blood, sweat, and (happy) tears into raising money for a local charity, Small Steps 4 Hannah. For those who don’t know, the charity was established by Sue and Llyod Clarke—the parents of Hannah Clarke, who was tragically murdered alongside her three children by her husband in 2020. The goal—to put a HALT to domestic violence. After making appearances as guest speakers on the night, the couple were presented with a cheque for $32, 000 by Founder of Run with Rob, Rob Hopkinson. Although no amount of money will ever fill the void those four beautiful souls have left in our community’s hearts, every dollar helps us to spread awareness. Two more guest speakers were also invited to the stage to kickoff the night’s fantastic line-up of action. One, being the CEO of A Brave Life Melissa Redsell, who spoke of her personal and professional journey with teen pregnancy. The second, being Erchana Murray-Bartlett, who shared her experience of running a marathon every day for 155 consecutive days from Australia’s Tip to Toe, to raise funds for Wildlife conservation. Both were presented with cheques for $2, 000. Every speech on the night planted kernels of inspiration in the audience’s hearts, for they proved you truly can do anything you put your mind to. Including turning Run With Rob’s celebration of fundraising efforts into a fundraiser itself! Once the speeches were wrapped up, and everyone had devoured their scrumptious two-course meal, an auction featuring exclusive items, getaways, and vouchers turned the room into a fun-filled frenzy. Lucky door prizes and raffle winnings were also on offer during the auction’s aftermath. The night concluded with a muchneeded boogie, where all invitees danced the night—and food comas—away. So how does a group of runners manage to raise such a vast amount? The answer is straight forward enough: through proud sponsors, coaching, running programs created by Rob, sausage sizzles, merchandise sales, and similar efforts. As well, ultra marathon runner Nicole Jukes ran for an incredible 24 hours continuously along Sandgate’s foreshore, raising a huge $12, 000 for the cause. Another runner, 16-year-old James Wraight did a handstand every day for 19 days for 19 seconds leading up to the anniversary of that tragic day (Hannah’s death) and raised almost $2, 000! At its core, the Annual Gala Ball was an opportunity for the Run With Rob family and their supporters come together and celebrate another successful year—not just in the running community, but in giving back to charities close to their hearts. VIEW Club Rings in the Festive Season with Heartwarming Celebration

As the holiday season approaches, the members of Brendale VIEW Club gathered for a joyous dinner meeting at the Aspley Hornets Football Club, marking the culmination of their activities for the year 2023. The festive spirit was in full swing as members donned Christmas hats and t-shirts, sharing a delightful two-course evening meal, complete with tea and coffee, among likeminded friends. The evening was filled with merriment, thanks to the musical talents of guest performers Ian Maurice and Natalie Mead. The duo entertained the attendees with a delightful selection of music, leading to a lively sing-along featuring everyone's favorite Christmas carols—a perfect way to immerse themselves in the holiday cheer. Adding to the festivities, many members left with lucky door prizes and Christmas hampers, enhancing the spirit of giving during this season of joy. For those unfamiliar with VIEW, it stands for the Voice, Interests & Education of Women. As a leading women's volunteer organization and support network, VIEW empowers women to voice their opinions on issues vital for the future wellbeing of Australian society. Beyond fostering friendships, VIEW supports disadvantaged Australian children through the children's charity, The Smith Family. The Brendale VIEW Club proudly sponsors eight Learning for Life students through The Smith Family Learning for Life Program, demonstrating the club's commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of children in need.

Throughout the year, the club's fundraising efforts, including dinner raffles, Bunnings sausage sizzles, and a fashion parade, have been highly successful. Members have also enjoyed various social events, including monthly coffee mornings, lunch at Parliament House, Picnic in the Park, a fashion parade, and a scenic walk along the Shorncliffe shoreline. The dinner meetings have featured engaging speakers, providing educational and informative sessions for the members. Looking ahead, the club has exciting events planned for the coming year, with the first dinner meeting of 2024 scheduled for January 16th. A significant milestone awaits the club in February, as they prepare to celebrate the Brendale VIEW Club's 25th Anniversary on the 20th of that month. For those interested in learning more about VIEW, the club invites you to a 'Coffee and Chat' on the first Saturday of the month at White's Coffee Co., Bracken Ridge Tavern. Additionally, prospective members can attend the dinner meetings held on the third Tuesday of each month at the Aspley Hornets Football Club Carseldine, starting at 6.30 pm for a 7pm commencement. This was made possible with an $11 million (Federal) investment from the previous Coalition government investing and strong support from our local community - despite the Palaszczuk government trying to stop the project. A Decade of Community, Growth, and Gratitude

People who don't volunteer often ask my why do I continue to put my hand up? Can't someone else do it?

Well, yes anyone can and should put their hand to help at least once in their life. I have been volunteering at Arana Netball for the past 10 years. Over the past five years the amazing volunteers at this club have managed to rebuild our numbers by providing a family friendly, all inclusive, supportive and positive atmosphere. This year our committee has had eight new additions to the table, six of those are young players at our club. It's not just the committee who keep our club going. We have coaches, umpires and managers who assist with the duties during the season. Recently we held a free summer netball clinic. We are able to off the amazing free clinic to the community every year, and this is due to our wonderful volunteers. This year we had 65 children attend the clinic that was run by 16 of our dedicated coaches. During my time at the club I have made life long friends who have walked beside me in my journey. I've been married, had kids, raised a family. I've progress my career, I've lost people I love, I've cried, I’ve smiled, I’ve laughed. All while being supported by the amazing community that surrounds me here at Arana Netball. The more we give the happier we feel. Thank you all our amazing volunteers, the whole community benefits from the time you put in, we couldn't do this without you.

An update from the Hills Organic Garden As the days grow warmer and the garden dries out, members of the Hills Organic Garden have been hard at work, making the most of the transition from winter to summer.

With the majority of their winter and spring crops now harvested, the focus has shifted to tidying up the garden and preparing for the hotter months ahead. Growing vegetables in the scorching Australian summer can be challenging, but dedicated gardeners at the Hills Organic Garden are undeterred. They continue to care for their flourishing tomato plants, capsicums, and silverbeet. Additionally, they have planted pumpkin seeds with high hopes for a bountiful harvest in the coming months. This community-driven venture, located at 416 Bunya Road, Bunya, adjacent to the Off Leash Dog Park, boasts a passionate and hardworking group of members. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, as they regularly receive compliments from the general public about the garden's picturesque appearance. The Hills Organic Garden is a haven for green thumbs and organic vegetable enthusiasts. It provides a space for likeminded individuals to come together, cultivate chemicalfree produce, and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Volunteers collaborate to maintain the garden, ensuring a communal, shared harvest. For those interested in joining this friendly group of garden enthusiasts, Sunday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. offer the perfect opportunity to visit, have a chat, and learn more. Annual membership fees are affordable, with rates set at $20 for adults, $30 for families, and $10 for juniors. As Summer holiday plans call, tending to your potted plants can become a challenge. Fortunately, with a little preparation and care, your plants can continue to thrive while you're away.

Group Pots Strategically: Grouping potted plants can create a microclimate that helps conserve moisture and provides shade. Position your pots close together to reduce water evaporation and protect them from the harsh afternoon sun. Mulch for Moisture Retention: Apply a layer of mulch, such as straw or wood chips, to the top of the soil in your potted plants to help retain moisture. Self-Watering Systems: These devices slowly release water into the soil over an extended period, ensuring that your plants receive a consistent water supply while you're on holiday. Hydrate Before You Go: Thoroughly water your potted plants before leaving for your trip. Deep watering will help the plants establish a reserve of moisture that they can draw upon during your absence. Find a Plant-Sitter: Ask a friend or neighbour to look after your garden while you're away. They can water your plants and check for signs of distress. Shade and Shelter: Consider moving your potted plants to a shaded or sheltered area. This might be a covered patio or a friend's house. With these tips, you can head off on your holiday with peace of mind, knowing your plants will be well taken care of in your absence.
