Kathrin Tschirner

Tschirner lives and works in Berlin as a freelance photographer and photo editor. She completed her Master’s degree in Photography & Communication Design in 2015, under the direction of Ute Mahler at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW). During her international Bachelor’s degree in Photography & Fine Arts at the ArtEz Academy for Art&Design in the Netherlands, she lived for nine months in Istanbul. This year, the has won the International Photoaward in Kuala Lumpur with a picture from the series 'Kurfürstenstraße'. This project originated during her graduate studies at the HAW and culminated in a book by the same name. In addition to being shown at festivals and widely exhibited, the book 'Kurfürstenstraße' was shortlisted for the Book Dummy Award Kassel (2015) and selected by the Goethe-Institute Moscow as one of the best German photo books of 2015. Her book was shown in the National Gallery in Madrid during the PHotoEspaña 2016.
