Testemonial Speaker Beth Sheehan, CSJA

Beth has lived her entire life in Milton, Massachusetts. She is the third child of five siblings. She has always lived with her parents and when the time came, she cared for them until their passing, which was a blessing and honor.

Beth grew up enriched by Catholic schools, attending Saint Agatha School, Milton, Archbishop Williams, Braintree, and Regis College, Weston. Her education inspired her occupation; she inevitably found herself drawn to academia.

Beth has been teaching for 36 years, 35 of which have been in catholic schools in the inner city of Boston. She spent her first year teaching preschool in a daycare setting in the South End of Boston. This wonderful experience introduced her to many cultures which assisted in her future as a teacher and a person. God then sent her to Saint Angela School in Mattapan for 20 years. Saint Angela’s became the Mattapan Campus of Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy where she spent ten more years. She loved her years in Mattapan.

When the Mattapan Campus was consolidated into the other three Saint John Paul II campuses, she was placed at the SJP II Lower Mills Campus which used to be the former Saint Gregory School, which is where she has been teaching for the past five years. Thirty-five years of teaching Grade Two has been the perfect placement for her. Preparing the students for the Sacraments of Penance and Holy Communion has been so rewarding. She cannot imagine teaching anywhere else. She has also been teaching Religious education for the past two years at Saint Gregory Parish preparing children for the sacraments.

In 1994, Beth was introduced to the Sisters of Saint Joseph Associates, which has been a most fulfilling and faith-filled part of her life’s journey. The Associates and the Sisters have opened her eyes to seeing herself as God sees her and seeing others as God sees them. This relationship with the Sisters and the Associates has transformed all areas of her life.
