Letter from the CEO
Dear all, 2023 has been an eventful year, one of great complexity but also great accomplishments for Ardmore, from the myriad dockings and upgrades to our fleet all executed flawlessly, to the transfer of eight ships from Thome to AASML thus creating a consolidated ship management function with tremendous potential, to the commercial performance achieved in amongst all these changes and a very challenging macro environment, to the significant improvements to our financial strength. And of course, we are ending the year with grave security concerns in the Red Sea, having been wrongly targeted by Houthi Rebels as we have explained. The situation is extremely worrying for all seafarers in the region, and we want to assure those directly concerned on Ardmore vessels that the security and safety of our ships and crews is always our top priority. So, speaking directly to Team Ardmore – and that includes you - thank you for everything you have done and achieved in 2023, it has been a true pleasure to observe such effective teamwork and professionalism; well done. And so we close the year by wishing you and your loved ones all the very best of success and happiness in 2024! Yours sincerely,
Anthony Gurnee CEO
2023 year round up from Accounting & Finance
Navigating Complexity, Embracing Simplicity: Our Triumphs in 2023 In 2023, the Accounting and Finance teams embraced the concept of “simplicity on the other side of complexity”. This guiding principle empowered us to navigate the challenges of the year, which included extensive drydocking and substantial first-time capital expenditure projects.
Distilling Complexity: As a team, we proactively sought ways to distill the intricacies of our tasks. Our initiatives, such as the creation of the Ardmore Bridge View, are an example of our commitment to simplicity. This one-page dashboard provides a quick, clear overview of essential information crucial for everyone’s understanding of the overall operation of our Company. Its design ensures it remains user-friendly and is regularly updated with the latest information via daily, monthly, and quarterly feeds. Moreover, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, we successfully executed 11 'TeachIns' throughout the year. These sessions facilitated cross-training amongst departments, enhancing our collective expertise and fostering a more collaborative environment.
Successful Events: We are also very proud of the successful events we held in 2023 that showcased the strengths of Ardmore. In February, we held an engaging Investor Day in New York where we highlighted how our strong results were a result of our long-term commitment to performance and progress and shared our positive views on the market. In May, we held a very well-attended Bank Meeting in Cork underscoring our commitment to open dialogue and collaboration with our longstanding banking partners and future capital providers. Then in June, we organized an insightful Analyst Day, further solidifying our position as industry thought leaders.
Financial Health and Key Metrics: As a result of everyone’s hard work, and prudent and progressive financial management, we have built considerable financial strength, including liquidity of over $270 million at the end of the third quarter. Effective cost control and low debt levels (net leverage of 14%) have enabled us to manage our cash breakeven levels down to $14,000 / day, while at the same time paying total dividends of $47 million in 2023, which represents a yield of almost 10%.
ESG Milestones: We are very proud of our continued commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”). The results are borne out by being ranked as the top publicly listed tanker company on the industry recognized Webber ESG Scorecard. Operationally, we have supported our teams with insightful analyses on investments in technology that improves our environmental footprint and profitability, including initiatives such as our modular carbon capture ready scrubbers, variable speed drives, and micro-boilers. From a social perspective, emphasis has been on health and wellbeing. For example, we have very popular and well attended weekly gym sessions, climbed Ireland’s highest mountain in July, and entered two teams in the Cork Ocean-to-City rowing race. Strong corporate governance practices are always a priority at Ardmore. This is evident in our transparent communications with markets and regulatory bodies, reflected in our presentations and consistently high-quality statutory reports.
Conclusion:
Amid our triumphs in 2023, the thread of simplicity has been woven through every facet of our endeavors. As we celebrate our wins, we recognize the power of embracing simplicity on the other side of complexity—a mindset that we believe will continue to propel us towards sustained success.
Wishing you all a restful holiday season and a prosperous 2024.

Reflecting on 2023
As we reflect on 2023 from the lens of our industry's energy transition, it has been a journey filled with triumphs and challenges. While there were certain aspects that presented hurdles, it is essential to focus on the positive strides we have made in shaping a sustainable future for our industry. We're now realising that future fuels, which could be a game-changer for our industry, are still a long way off. Energy security has taken precedence over energy transition, with many oil majors reducing their commitments to the energy transition. Unfortunately, these decisions are influenced by factors beyond our control, such as politics, legislation, and the rollout of shore-based infrastructure. While it may appear that the future holds a bleak outlook, this situation actually presents us with an opportunity to focus on what we have the power to influence. There has never been a clearer indication that prioritising energy efficiency is crucial in the short term. We can take immense pride in our accomplishments in this area, with 2023 serving as a testament to our progress. This renewed focus has opened up new possibilities for reducing emissions. Ideas that were once met with scepticism, like onboard carbon capture, are now being seriously considered viable solutions. If 2022 was the year of planning, then 2023 was the year of execution. If the theme of 2023, “operating in a complex environment”, is the goal that 2023 will be measured against, I can confidently state that it was an exceptionally positive year with multiple complex projects, both energy transition and operational being completed successfully. The scale and complexity of these initiatives were unprecedented, particularly considering the simultaneous integration of our complete fleet into the AASML joint venture. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team. But the real standout of the year for me has been the engagement we've seen across the entire company. Culture is a topic that we frequently discuss at Ardmore, recognising its significance as one of the fundamental pillars on which our company was built. While it is effortless to talk about culture, it is undeniably challenging to cultivate and nurture it within an organisation. As I reflect on the events of 2023, my main takeaway is the growing integration of the Energy Transition Plan (ETP) engagement into our company's culture. It has become something that people consciously consider and incorporate into their daily routines. This is genuinely more gratifying than any single technology rollout could ever be. With this culture now continuously developing, I am excited to see what we, as a collective team, are able to accomplish in 2024.
Garry Noonan Director, Innovation
Chartering Asia 2023
When I look back at 2023, there were many positives to take from Asia’s chartering space. First and foremost, the highlight: we have had David Choe on board since April 2023, bringing significant wealth of experience in operations to the chartering team in Singapore. The transition was very smooth, and David quickly picked up the necessary skill set. Not to mention the good camaraderie he brought to the small team between Gerald and myself. 2023 has been interesting for the tanker space in Asia, where the flow of chemicals and biofuels has slowed down significantly due to various reasons such as a poorer economy and a lack of trades/supply. We reinforced ourselves as a strong product owner, continuing our good relationship with regular clients and building stronger relationships with newer contacts in the market. Furthermore, there was increased coordination between departments due to a heavy docking schedule. We would like to show our gratitude to our colleagues in operations and technical for aligning goals and making all these accomplishments possible. One of the highlights of the year was the commercial offsite in Cork, especially during the Ardmore Party. Despite a small mishap with my knee, the whole company managed to rally and party after the shooting event with the live band. Like many would say, “Ardmore holds the best party in shipping.” While we enjoy the strong market in 2023, we will always be careful of market changes and ensure that we are well-prepared for any situation changes. I believe that at Ardmore, we can be proud of the work quality on all fronts, not just on chartering, which will propel the company further and further.
Swenson Chen Chartering Manager, Asia / Middle East
2023 A Look Back
As we bid farewell to 2023, it’s time to reflect on the journey we’ve taken navigating through a year defined by its complexity. As we commenced the year and knowing the challenges which lay ahead, the very relevant “performing in a complex environment” was set as our theme. On reflection we can say that it served us beyond measure. In a year which saw a significant number of complicated drydocks and a large proportion of our fleet undergo a technical manager transition, it was our ability to work as a team – One Team – that helped us overcome the challenges faced. Despite the intensive operational focus, we also managed to achieve new goals and have many highlights to celebrate. Our financial position speaks for itself and we stand proud of the efforts which have resulted in our financial strength. ETP continues to be embedded in our company philosophy and the creation of the Sustainability Committee in early 2023 serves as confirmation of our commitment to ESG matters. In keeping with this we prioritized initiatives for the wellbeing of our staff, both at sea and onshore and look forward to continuing to do so. Having our Board members visit the office in Cork in September was a highlight as they got to experience some of the team firsthand. As we look ahead to the upcoming year, we should be emboldened by our achievements and the principles we used to attain them. While we will encounter challenging times, we have the ability to successfully overcome – that’s what 2023 has taught us. Wishing you all a Happy Christmas,
圣诞节快乐, Nollaig Shona Duit!

Celebrating the success of Ardmore Shipping and Anglo Ardmore Ship Management’s Seafarer Conference
Recently concluded in Hyderabad, our Seafarer Conference brought together Senior Officers and shore staff from Ardmore’s offices in Cork and Singapore, as well as staff from the Anglo Ardmore Joint Venture office in Hong Kong and Anglo Eastern’s offices in Mumbai. This year's conference theme was ‘Find the Balance’ and this was clearly present in every session. The first day began with opening addresses by Gerry Docherty, Director, Fleet Management, and Ashish Malik, Managing Director of the Anglo Ardmore Joint Venture. Capt. Yadu Bassi, Ardmore's Marine Personnel Manager, presented a video showcasing our 2023 Wellness program and ‘Ardmore Crew’s Got Talent’, highlighting the remarkable engagement of our onboard teams. Ardmore’s Senior Management team were also well represented, and had presentations from Anthony Gurnee, our CEO, and Mark Cameron, our COO, on the first morning. As we have transitioned eight of our vessels into AASML from previous technical management, our crewing complement within Anglo Ardmore has become more multinational, as many of our European officers have moved over with the eight vessels. As part of this new cultural landscape, we also had an excellent session on ‘Unconscious Bias’ delivered by Nadia Mather, Ardmore’s Director, Legal. This was a fantastic session and it was great to see the level of engagement amongst both seafarers and shore staff. This was followed by a session on ‘Trust Balance’ presented by Aideen O’Driscoll, Ardmore’s SVP Corporate Services, and Dr Delna Shroff, Senior Psychologist & Manager at Anglo Eastern. This session included various scenarios of incidents which had taken place on our vessels over the years and required attendees to breakout into groups and discuss trust behaviours, as well as counterfeit behaviours that need to be understood and addressed. The level of engagement in these more behavioural elements was commendable and we were delighted with the enthusiasm and engagement shown by all. The afternoon sessions saw C-Suite talks by Ardmore’s Senior Management team, followed by panel discussions with both sea and shore staff, a navigation review by Abhijit Ghosh, Ardmore’s Marine Manager, an insightful session by our cultural officer, Anthony Fernandes of Anglo Eastern, who talked us through a review of the ‘Ardmore Culture’ across the fleet that he has been working on with sea-staff since the start of 2023, and a review of Anglo Eastern’s wellness surveys by Priyanka Gupta, Anglo Eastern’s Director - HR.
Day 2 shifted focus to operational performance with presentations from Suraj Batra, Ardmore’s Technical Manager, and Vasanth Subramanien, Anglo Ardmore Fleet Manager, along with safety and environmental performance review by Samrat Biswas, Senior Manager, QHSE Anglo Ardmore, a crewing review by Vineet Gupta, MD of Crewing at Anglo Eastern and a presentation on Ardmore’s Energy Transition Plan by Garry Noonan, Ardmore’s Director, Innovation. The day concluded with panel discussion of our commercial team moderated by our Chief Commercial Officer, Gernot Ruppelt. To conclude the second day, we moved outside to the gardens of the hotel to take part in three hours of physical teambuilding activities, which really brought out the competitive spirit amongst the team, as well as a few laughs along the way. The evening continued with a Gala Dinner, creating a splendid setting for networking and further strengthening the bonds forged during the conference. The third and final day saw our deck officers remain with us for a Chemical Cargo workshop, led by Cris Nutu, Ardmore’s Cargo Manager, together with Christopher Poppen, from Anglo Eastern’s training academy, and representatives of Jotun Paints, who took the group through the various aspects of paints in relation to the coating and cleaning of the vessel’s cargo tanks. We would like to thank all involved in the planning and execution of the conference and to all our seafarers, who gave up time during their vacation to join us and contribute in such a positive manner. Together we grow in strength whilst always working together, operationally, and commercially to ‘Find the Balance’.
Gerry Docherty Director, Fleet Management
Celebrating 2023 My First Year - Kayla Davenport Thinking back on this year, WOW! To tell you the truth, I didn’t quite know what I was signing up for when jumping ships and joining the Maritime Industry. Let’s just say, it has been nothing short of amazing. All of the people, places, experiences, opportunities, learning lessons, and a few too many good times have been life changing and worthwhile as I’ve embarked on this journey. I remember my first week like it was yesterday. Sitting alone in the office as Holly and Fernanda were on a business trip in New York, Jordan gave me a few tasks: one of them being to monitor emails for a handful of vessels. Here I was, wondering what this acronym meant or that one, and gradually picking up on the lingo: ballasting, discharging, berthing, bunkers and slops? I’m telling ya, I was wide-eyed and absorbing it all! Then, there was this cat onboard the T Matterhorn! That was hilarious to me! Who would’ve thought?! Through a lot of growth, guidance and training (with a side of patience and grace), it has been an exceptional year…and we’re just getting started. When I came across the theme of the year – performing in a complex environment – I set it as a daily reminder on my phone. This soon became my motto as I knew some days were going to be more challenging than others. Learning an entire industry from scratch - yes, it was a complex environment, and yes, we shall perform! Additionally, among the many individuals I’ve had the pleasure of meeting during my first year, these two facts stood out to me most: 1. Not a single day will be the same. There will always be something new to learn. And that is exciting. 2. Even though we might all have different roles or backgrounds, some we work with and some being the enemy(competitor), everyone has been so welcoming and supportive. This was certainly eyeopening for me and has helped a ton. Here is just a small list of some of my favorite memories from this year: • Had some good fun, or craic, at our Houston St. Patrick’s Day party • Shared tamales, margaritas and plenty of laughs with Mona, Jackie and Kate while they were in town to help host the above mentioned party • Volunteered with Holly and Fernanda at the Houston Food Bank • That foam mustache from my first sips of a Murphy’s Irish Stout all the while enjoying my first time leaving the states • At the NMCI Training: I played bumper [vessels] in the bridge simulator (sorry, team, for costing us some points here…), then almost drowning shortly after from laughing so hard during the environmental pool activity • We visited the Ardmore Seafox one blistering HOT day in July, meeting Captain Tuhin Kumar Dev and the rest of the crew, who demonstrated such hospitality through an informative tour and 5-course Indian cuisine lunch. Fernanda and I obviously had to recreate the “Titanic pose” All of these little moments would not be possible if it weren’t for the opportunity at Ardmore Shipping. I am incredibly grateful and looking forward to seeing what 2024 has in store for me, our team, and this great company! Thank you to all who have made such an impact thus far. Wishing everyone the happiest of holidays and a jolly New Year! Cheers!

Celebrating Diwali
Diwali is also known as the Festival of Lights. In the very old Indian language, Sanskrit, Diwali (or Deepavali) means 'row of lamps'. People light lamps at Diwali to show that light is more powerful than darkness, and good is more powerful than evil. Diwali also celebrates new beginnings.
Celebrating Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving in the United States is a time to gather with family and friends, share a traditional meal and express gratitude for the good things in life. It can also be a time of service to others in the community. Celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, Thanksgiving traces its origins to harvest festivals. This year we celebrated Thanksgiving in the Cork Office with pancakes and all the toppings and some good company!
Run in the Dark 2023
This year’s run in the dark took place on Tuesday November 14th , we had a big crew from the Cork office take part in both the running and walking sections. Well done to all.
Mental Health Week “At Ardmore, we believe that a thriving workplace is built on the foundation of employee wellbeing. In 2023, the commitment to this statement was clearly visible with many incentives and events organised such as weekly fitness classes, group hikes and cycles, team races and workshops with the goal of supporting our employee’s mental and physical health in addition to promoting the company’s “One Team” culture whilst also having fun and building connections amongst colleagues.”
The Cork Office had a Men’s Mental Health & Wellbeing Day which involved a workshop with Mark Tynan from MT Wellness, a circuit class at the local gym & Go Karting, all events were well attended and enjoyed. We also took part in an employee cycle in October.
We got the opportunity to volunteer at Cork Penny Dinners December 14th, they do incredible work for the people of Cork. Ardmore Shipping kindly donated €500 to the charity and we also collected food & clothing donations to add to hampers that are distributed to families in need over the Christmas period. Cork Penny Dinners is a long established charitable organisation whose core service is to offer a nourishing hot meal in a safe environment to all those in need - the aim is to provide a warm, dry place to sit and eat, with a welcoming atmosphere, no questions asked, no judgements made, all are welcomed.
