Some of the children complained that they had waited half an hour in the sun but the cyclists went past in 30 seconds!

Many watchers had brought chairs to watch from and some even had ice creams. Plus, Union Jacks were well in evidence.

The cyclists were photographed here at the Ingatestone end of Fryerning Lane and they went up the hill to Fryerning and then on to Blackmore to eventually arrive at Harlow.

The winner was Holland’s Danny van Poppel of the Bora-Hansgrohe team, second was Vernon Ethan of Great Britain.
