Karissa Scarborough

Karissa Scarborough is a talented and driven 10-year-old 5th grader at H.E. Corley Elementary School in Lexington-Richland School District 5. With a passion for math, she dreams of becoming a mathematician and achieving a perfect SAT score one day.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Karissa enjoys arts and crafts and uses her creativity to design unique items and gifts through her brand, Karissa’s Kreation. Her business features handmade artwork, clay sculptures, paintings, and drawings, all aimed at making people HAPPY by bringing color and creativity to any space.

Karissa is also committed to social responsibility. Five percent of Karissa’s Kreation profits are donated to Team Trees, which plants a tree for every dollar donated.

Camya Lovett is a talented art photographer from Spartanburg, South Carolina. Her passion for photography has profoundly transformed her perspective on the world, allowing her to see beauty and creativity in everyday moments. Camya has developed a deep enthusiasm for the art form, finding joy and fulfillment in capturing unique images that express her artistic vision.

Currently, Camya is pursuing her education at Benedict College, where she is an art student. Her studies further enhance her skills and broaden her understanding of the visual arts. With each photograph, she strives to convey a story, evoke emotion, and inspire those who view her work.

Erin Graves is a talented African American artist hailing from Houston, Texas. Currently a senior at Benedict College in South Carolina, she is pursuing a degree in Studio Art. Erin’s passion for creativity and visual storytelling has shaped her academic and professional aspirations.

With a strong dedication to her craft, Erin aims to become an Artistic Director, using her skills to inspire and support others in the arts community.

Her goal is not only to achieve personal success but also to make a positive impact by helping as many people as possible through her work. Erin looks forward to a future where she can blend her artistic vision with her desire to uplift and mentor others in the creative field.

Kenneth Scarborough, also known as KRIS, is a junior at Spring Hill High School in Lexington-Richland School District 5, with a focus on business and entrepreneurship. Outside of academics, KRIS enjoys playing soccer, spending time with friends, and online gaming.

At just 16 years old, KRIS is the founder of Wild Steppas, a custom clothing brand that offers hoodies, t-shirts, and other apparel. His goal is to provide unique, affordable, and meaningful products that stand out in the marketplace. Wild Steppas was created to bring something different to customers, showcasing KRIS’s passion for creativity and individuality.

The brand name itself holds a dual meaning: “Wild” represents being different and creating one’s own wave, while “Steppas” encourages people to keep moving forward and not let anything stand in their way. KRIS’s vision is for Wild Steppas to grow and compete with major brands, while delivering a powerful and valuable message to individual customers and the broader community.

Naim I. Musalini, the 17-year-old son of Wadud and Dr. Laneika Musalini, is an inspiring African American entrepreneur. He enjoys designing clothes, making people smile, playing basketball, traveling, and constantly learning new things. Naim has always embraced his creativity and expresses deep gratitude to God for blessing him with this gift.

The idea for his brand, zSYNC, emerged during a challenging period between 9th and 10th grade when Naim experienced a vitreous hemorrhage in both eyes due to sickle cell disease. After undergoing multiple surgeries, Naim turned to art and design as an outlet, creating artwork and t-shirt designs on his school computer to convey his emotions and perspective on life.

Reflecting on his journey, Naim shared, “I might as well take a few steps with God,” and those steps soon became a walk of faith. Now, as the owner and visionary behind zSYNC, Naim is using his creativity and determination to build a brand that represents his resilience and positive outlook.

Nia Robinson is a 10-year-old entrepreneur and the Chief Executive Officer of Martelle’s Mix, a fruit-flavored punch business she founded in May 2024.

Her venture began by experimenting with recipes using real fruit instead of just plain lemonade, leading to the creation of four delicious flavors: Berry Good, Cherry Berry, Tutti Frutti, and Dreamsicle. After developing the flavors, Nia launched her Tutti Frutti punch in June 2024 and catered four parties over the summer, gaining a growing fan base in Greenville, S.C.

Nia’s entrepreneurial spirit shines through her detailed business plan, which she presented to her parents, covering start-up costs, payment methods, and marketing strategies. She is also an active member of Bibleway Church at Atlas Road, participating in the Children’s Ministry and choir. A 5th grader at Round Top Elementary School, Nia is involved in the Flag Patrol and the Golden Talk Table, a student group focused on interviewing community leaders. During her 4th grade year, she served on the student council.

Camm Wess Singer

Camm Wess is a South Carolina native and talented singer/songwriter who masterfully blends soul, blues, and hip hop to create his unique take on pop music. Known for his distinctive sound and rich vocal palette, Camm captivates audiences with his smooth, soulful voice.

Camm made a lasting impression during his blind audition on season 18 of The Voice, where he performed “Earned It” and secured his place as a finalist. Throughout the competition, he showcased his songwriting talents with the original song “Save It for Tomorrow,” which he co-wrote with John Legend and co-produced with Ryan Tedder. His rich, silky voice and soulful tone earned him the nickname "Honey Butter" from Legend himself.

Camm’s artistic talents extend beyond singing and songwriting. He wrote, produced, and released his debut single, “Temptation,” in 2018, followed by his third single “Lie,” for which he also directed the music video. At just 16 years old, Camm’s passion for music inspired him to teach himself both guitar and piano, adding to his arsenal of musical skills.

Dance South Company, founded in 2004, is a nationally recognized dance company known for its exceptional talent and diverse range of dance styles.

Under the direction of Joy Nicole, the company has built a reputation for excellence in Hip-Hop, Jazz, Majorette, and even Modeling and Performance.

The company’s instructors, Jakahi Sheppard and Ms. Chyna, bring a wealth of experience and passion to their teaching, inspiring dancers to reach their fullest potential. Jasmine Johnson Singer

Jasmine J. Johnson is a gifted 16-year-old recording artist who discovered her passion for singing at a young age. At just six years old, during a visit to her grandmother's home, she confidently proclaimed that she could sing like renowned opera singer Kathleen Battle, whose gospel CD was playing. Her grandmother quickly recognized Jasmine's natural talent for music.

Deeply devoted to her faith in Jesus Christ, Jasmine seeks to share the message of His love and sacrifice through her music. Her faith journey is integral to her identity, and she believes that it is through God’s grace that she can inspire others. Jasmine’s songs reflect her commitment to the gospel, aiming to touch the hearts of her listeners.

Already a step ahead in her career, Jasmine has copyrighted two original songs and attends a Christian school in South Carolina. Beyond music, she enjoys horseback riding, watching movies, and creating short videos.

Jasmine's mission is to spread the gospel and encourage others to find hope and salvation in Jesus Christ. She prays that her voice will serve as an instrument of faith and love for all who hear it.

2024 ENTERTAINMENT The Fairfield Central High School Orchestra in Winnsboro, South Carolina, is a thriving ensemble of talented students from grades 9 to 12, focusing on string performance. Under the leadership of Ms. Naiesha Wise, the orchestra has grown in size and skill, emphasizing technical proficiency, musical expression, and collaboration. They perform at various school, community, state, and national events, earning high ratings at competitions like the Midlands Region 3 Concert Performance Assessment and receiving Excellent, Superior, and Superior with Distinction Ratings. The students also receive Superior ratings at the Carowind’s Festival of Music. Students achieve top honors at regional events, such as the Region Orchestra and Solo & Ensemble Festivals.

Fairfield Central High School Orchestra Naiesha Wise is the Director of Orchestra at Fairfield Central High School in Winnsboro, SC. She is also the Director of the Concert Orchestra with the South Carolina Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms. Wise is from Columbia, SC, and went to school in Richland School District 2. Ms. Wise was a first-generation college student attending Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education with a concentration in K-12 Instrumental Music. While at Winthrop, she performed with the WU Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Ensemble, and Cello Choir. Ms. Wise has served as a guest clinician and adjudicator throughout the Midlands and is an active member of the South Carolina Music Educators Association (SCMEA) and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). She is the Region 3 Orchestra Division Concert Performance chairperson and serves as the advisor for the Tri-M Music Honor Society at FCHS. In her spare time, Ms. Wise performs cello in local community orchestras.

The Lee Central Mighty Marching Stallions are under the dynamic leadership of Band Director Joshua Jefferson and Assistant/Auxiliary Instructor J’Narda Kelly.

Joshua, a recent Magna Cum Laude graduate of Benedict College with a degree in Music Education, has made significant contributions to music as an accomplished trombone player. He was a member of the Benedict College Band of Distinction from 2019 to 2023 and is affiliated with the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity. As Band Director for Lee Central High School and Lee Central Middle School, he focuses on fostering growth and excellence in music education. J’Narda Kelly, a 2002 graduate of South Carolina State University, brings an impressive background in marching band, having been a member of Marching 101 and serving as Drum Major. She is involved with the Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Sorority and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and she teaches Sports Medicine and Pharmacology at Lee Central High School.

The Mighty Marching Stallions have recently revitalized their band program and proudly feature 30 members. This marks their second year under Mr. Jefferson’s direction, emphasizing musical achievement and community engagement. Together, they aim to create lasting memories through music.

Dr. Melvin T. Miller, assistant professor and department chair of business administration at Benedict College, has been acknowledged by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for his dedication, achievements, and leadership in business administration.With over 21 years of professional experience, Dr. Miller has served as assistant professor and department chair at Benedict College since 2012. His career began in the financial sector, where he held roles including vice president, small business banker, retail financial advisor, and market manager at Wachovia Corp. from 1993 to 2003. He later became vice president of consumer/professional and executive banking at South Carolina Community Bank, serving from 2003 to 2008. Dr. Miller also held the position of vice president of business and finance at Allen University from 2008 to 2011. Additionally, he has been an adjunct professor at Webster University since 2002 and a mentor at the University of Southern California School of Business.Dr. Miller's academic journey began at the University of South Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 1988. He continued his education at Walden University, receiving a Master of Business Administration in 1999, a Master of Philosophy in management in 2019, and a PhD in applied management and decision sciences in 2020.

Lee Livingston, also known by his professional name Kevin Cupree, is a multifaceted individual with a passion for animals, entrepreneurship, and the arts. From a young age, Lee’s love for dogs grew into a successful business venture, K9-IFind, which specializes in locating specific dog breeds for discerning clients. His commitment to excellence has driven him to expand K9-IFind to include international searches, serving clients around the world.

Lee’s involvement with The Auntie Karen Foundation began in 2012 when he was just 12 years old. Throughout his high school years at Spring Hill High School in Chapin, South Carolina, he remained an active contributor, while also exploring a variety of interests such as track and field, dog training, reading, and collecting Jordan sneakers. He attributes much of his success to his deep faith in Christ and lives by his favorite motto: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!” With the support of his family, especially his mother, Lilly, Lee has embraced every challenge and opportunity with determination and grace. His passion for veterinary care is matched by his enthusiasm for the entertainment industry, where he has begun to make a name for himself as a model and actor. Discovered on Instagram, Lee—under his professional name, Kevin Cupree—has traveled the globe chasing his dreams in modeling and acting. Elder Keishan Scott, a 22-year-old community activist, accomplished author, and elected official, embodies vision, ambition, and spirituality. A native of Bishopville, South Carolina, he was born to Tiffany and Lashan Scott.

Keishan is a proud graduate of Lee Central High School and Central Carolina Technical College, where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Arts.

Driven by a passion for higher education, he attended the University of South Carolina Columbia, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work as a first-generation college student—DEBT FREE! In August 2025, he will begin graduate studies in the Master’s of Public Administration program. Just three days after graduating from college on May 9, 2023, Keishan made history by becoming the youngest elected City Councilman in Bishopville’s history. His commitment to serving his community and advocating for positive change highlights his dedication to public service.

Elder Scott continues to inspire others through his leadership and vision, proving that young people can make a significant impact in their communities.

Sheneka Jackson-Kinsey is a skilled freelance artist from South Carolina, specializing in portrait artistry. With over 24 years of experience, she has demonstrated a lifelong passion for the visual arts. Born on January 30, 1989, Sheneka discovered her artistic talent at just three years old, a gift she has nurtured and refined throughout her life. Her formal education in art took place at Benedict College, where she studied in the Fine Arts Department under the mentorship of Ms. Gina Moore. After earning her degree in 2013, Sheneka shifted her focus to illustration, contributing to two notable books: A Hug While I’m Away, a children’s book by Karen Alexander, and Memoirs of Alabama, a poetry collection by Ninamarie. Sheneka’s artistic philosophy is deeply rooted in her faith, and she strives to create art that glorifies God while uplifting and inspiring others.

She believes her creativity is a gift from her Creator, and she lives by the principle of producing work that edifies the people of God. This guiding philosophy extends to her community involvement as well. Sheneka collaborated with the Auntie Karen Foundation on a summer arts initiative for the Lee County School District, where she taught aspiring young artists the importance of professionalism and creative expression. Sheneka Jackson-Kinsey’s dedication to her craft and her commitment to using her talents for a greater purpose continue to inspire those around her. 2024 SPEAKER/PRESENTER The Lee Central Middle School and the Bishopville Primary School Media Literacy Programs were developed in 2014 by the Lee County School District Office of Instruction and Professional Development. The purpose of the program is to show students how to utilize multimedia to enhance their education while exposing them to different career opportunities in the multimedia field. The program gives students a chance to develop and use their media skills to document events occurring at their schools, the district and their community. The Lee County School District Media Literacy program starts in grade three and continues to grade twelve. The program has been very effective in showing students how to analyze and create media content effectively, while at the same time, encouraging them to think critically about the different forms of media they encounter.

Don Patterson has dedicated over 30 years to working with youth in the area of media literacy. He has trained students across numerous school districts throughout South Carolina—from the Upstate to the Lowcountry—in media literacy and the art of videography. His media literacy training programs aim to provide students with opportunities to develop their media skills while sharing important information within their schools and communities.Throughout the years, Don’s students have had the privilege of interviewing several prominent figures, including Shirley Chisholm, the first African American woman to run for president, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, Congressman James Clyburn, former Governor Nikki Haley, and actress/recording artist Vanessa Williams.In recognition of his contributions to the arts and education, Don was appointed twice by the National Endowment for the Arts as a member of the Learning in Arts Grants and Policy Panel. His work with the Lee County Media Literacy Program has been instrumental in shaping young minds, helping students think critically and express themselves creatively through media.

Michele Dugar is both an instructor and practitioner when it comes to marketing, entrepreneurship, and creative problem-solving. She has over 20 years of experience as a business professor at the University of South Carolina and Benedict College, where she also led the college’s Student Innovation Hub, a student consulting agency.

Michele has supported small businesses, non-profits, and national corporations. As an SBA advisor and certified entrepreneurship instructor, she guided many entrepreneurs as they launched and expanded their businesses. As a marketing consultant, her awardwinning work included providing strategic plans and creative execution to clients like Wachovia Mortgage and Salvation Army.

Norma Lynn Brown Be Inspired 2, LLC

Norma Lynn Brown is a native of Hartsville, S.C. and the daughter of the late O’Neal and Bertha Lee Lynn. She was introduced to entrepreneurship at a young age by her parents, grandparents and uncle by working in the family-owned Grocery store. After high school she attended Winthrop University and graduated with a double major in Marketing and Fashion Merchandising. She also received a master’s degree in business from Winthrop. Then she taught at Richmond Senior High then taught at Irmo, Dutch Fork High and Spring Hill High Schools in Columbia. For 35 years she taught Entrepreneurship/ Marketing and was an award-winning DECA Coach and Advisor. Then GOD gave her the vision to go into the community and teach entrepreneurship to young people in grades 4-12 and ages 17-25. In 2018 she started Lynn Brown Inspires: Young CEOs and Leaders, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that promotes Economic Empowerment through summer camps and other programs. She has taught 7 camps in Columbia and 5 camps in Charleston- Camp Wanza in memory of Tywana Sanders killed in the Emanual 9 shooting.She is also the proud CEO/ Founder of Be Inspired 2, LLC a consulting business that allows her to conduct workshops, presentations and seminars. She believes that God has instilled gifts and talents in all students.

TiffanyJ is a multi-talented creative who has transformed her personal journey into a platform for empowerment and artistic expression. She launched her career as a solo artist in 2012, using her music and self-esteem movement, "Beauty, You Are Boot Camp," to inspire young girls to embrace their uniqueness. In addition to her music, she is a 5X published author, best known for her interactive guide, It All Starts with Me, and the creator of the Super Beauty brand, which includes children’s books and pep-talking dolls designed to boost confidence.

Her work has been featured on BET’s Grand Hustle, Good Morning America, and in prominent outlets such as Black Enterprise and Essence. TiffanyJ’s latest album, Solbird Sessions Live, hit #8 on the iTunes R&B/Soul charts. In 2024, her documentary concert film of the same name was licensed by Amazon Prime for global streaming. She is also a professor at Benedict College and a creative director, contributing to projects like Columbia’s Black Wall Street documentary. TiffanyJ continues to lead with passion, most notably as the organizer of the Buddies, Not Bullies Rally & Parade in Columbia, SC, held annually during Bullying Prevention Month.

Christopher “Chris” Campbell has dedicated the past five years to serving the Richland Library in many capacities, showcasing his versatility and commitment.

His journey within the library organization has seen him donning several hats, beginning as a Customer Service Specialist and steadily advancing to the role of Customer Service Supervisor. Presently, he holds the esteemed position of Edgewood Location Manager. A profound commitment to customer service excellence characterizes Chris’s professional journey. His expertise extends beyond the confines of traditional library services, encompassing career coaching and team-building. With an unwavering dedication to helping others succeed, Chris has become a driving force for growth and development within his professional and personal spheres. In both his professional and personal life, Chris sets a singular goal at the forefront: to facilitate the growth, learning, and success of those around him.
