Internship Experience:
Role as Intern: TRAVELLING:- OFFICE WORK:-TRAVELLING EVERYDAY:- REST ON SUNDAYS
Working as an Intern in an Office like MOE is Certitude for any Architectural student, due to the Principal Architect and other architects, being more approachable and providing proper guidance throughout. It is understandable that a degree of nervousness and curiosity engulfs a student before stepping into an office for the first time. That’s exactly what I felt, but since I already had interacted with Ar. Dhanaprakash sir, as he was my Mentor/Faculty at MSAP, I felt at ease while interacting with him. It took me a week's time to get acclimatized to the Office Environment, and I felt at home, and part of the family. The Firm has many fragments to it. It has the Nature, music, calmness, and a sense of Timelessness and the Dynamic nature of the office, as many of the staff members are most of the Time busy with Client Meetings, or Site Visits, hence don’t have any sort of Fixed Office timings. WORK is given more importance rather than the OFFICE TIMIMGS, that was the Takeaway from this firm. However, there was a sense of Loneliness as sometimes there was no one in the firm to interact, stroll around and do various activities, but due to the works, and deadlines given to me by sir, I did not give much attention to it. The Office, is small, yet Compartmentalized, and as an Intern, I did not Know what to expect at a firm with such mammoth practice. But to my Surprise, I got to work on a wide variety of projects from Large Scale Convention Halls; Mid-scale Pre-school Projects to small scale Residential homes. I worked on Conceptual designing, construction and working drawings, Estimations, Electrical Layout drawings, 3d models and renderings with the use of new software’s, detailed drawings, presentation drawings, client meetings, and went on site visits as well. It was refreshing experience with a learning curve that will remain for long in memory. The Exposure that I got while working here is incomprehensible. I learnt numerous things in various ways and at all times. The office taught me to be professional and precise at what I undertook. It taught me to be sincere while doing even the menial work that might not seem important. The firm taught me to work as a team (in some of the projects), and how every contribution, regardless of its magnitude matters. Through the weeks, I got to know how to be patient and do my work with perfection while keeping my mind at peace. Also ,I got to know, how to schedule my work and finish it before time. Hence, from these learnings I got to know how training has an Important role in exposing the real-life situation in the architectural industry. It was a great experience for me to work on training at Mark On Earth Architects, Derebail, Mangalore, throughout the internship time period, though travelling from Udupi to Mangalore, and back to Udupi at the end of the day, was a bit-tiring throughout the semester. This Internship period has been very beneficial. Several different tasks have been gone through, have been completed, and have been understood, and will be taken into use in the future work situations. The experience with the knowledge gathered, has made me more knowledgeable and more ready to go into the workforce after graduation. I have learned a lot about project development, interaction between co-workers, new things about software and proper work management.
Beside the learning process, I got many more valuable experiences from the people around me. I was inspired by the people around me, not only as someone to learn from, but as a person and their ideology, philosophy, and way of life, what they see as an architect and their outlook towards even the simplest things in life. Working on various of projects, I learned so much outside of academic life. I cultured so many skillsets, which have enriched my abilities. It also made me perceive architecture from professional perspectives. Finally, Architecture internships provide the formal training required to become a certified professional, and are essential for gaining a well-rounded set of experiences to help grow as both a student and as a newly qualified architect. Aside from technical skills, internships was a great opportunity to learn and work on soft skills such as teamwork, independence, effective communication, and negotiation skills that come in handy with future projects and eventual clients

• Type of soil: Laterite soil is obtained here, which is rich in iron and aluminium content, and the same soil which was excavated for basement, has been utilised for making Laterite bricks for further use in site
Mariyamma temple is about 5 km from Mangaladevi Temple in Mangalore city. The main deity of this temple is Goddess Mariyamma. This temple was built by the Mogaveera community around 800 years ago for the dedicated Goddess Mariyamma. Every year during early March Mari Pooja is held with display. People gather from all nearby towns in Mangalore. Special Pooja takes place for three days. Hence the management planned to build a Convention hall next to the temple for gatherings, celebrations, weddings, etc.

PLUMBING DETAILS:
A sump pump system consists of four major parts: a ground water collection system, a sump tank, a pump, and an outlet drain.
Ground water is collected by drain rock and drain tile buried along the foundation (and, in some cases, under the floor). Drain tile carries the water to the sump tank (or two sump tanks, in a large house) that is buried in the basement floor. Normally, a sump tank is located at the lowest point in the basement. Most tanks have a hole in each side for incoming drain tile and all have a sturdy cover. When ground water fills the tank to a given level, a float or some other type of switching device activates a pump.

Site Context:
The planned temple complex is about 2km from the main kodikal road. The main deity of this temple is Shri Ram and Shri Hanuman. The surrounding place is filled with residential buildings along with commercial shops. Since the site is located far away from the main road, and there are no attractions / temples nearby, hence a community was formed to plan for a temple complex in the core of the city. The basic design was prepared by the management people as per temple Vastu advisers and was further turned into proper plans and elevations as per Vastu shastra, later on 3d model and renders has been already handed over to the clients, and the materials will be brought to the site from Kerala. The temple complex is lifted by 5’ so as to give a monumentary scale.

• 3D SketchUp model of whole campus.
The basic idea of this concept was to create a wooden bridge overlooking the multipurpose area, and which is also covered by a box, i.e. a closed courtyard, with coloured MS box louvers to give a unique look to the external front façade. Also these louvers enhance venturi effect as air passes through small gaps of the louvers it cools down. Also the water body located inside the multipurpose area causes evaporative cooling. Hence the children feel comfortable even during the daytime. The building façade design shows a mixture of both contemporary as well as Coastal Karnataka traditional design. The client basically wanted to use both traditional elements like Mangalore tiles, brick jail wall, as well as contemporary elements like Coloured MS box louvers, for the external façade, and s planning the interior with modern styles, led lightings, etc
