Tommy Lanigan learned the bodhrán in his teens and never looked back. ‘Over the years my talent has given the privilege to play in bands and sessions, travelling the world and performing alongside some of the greats in Irish music’. Regular attenders of seisiúns in Kilkenny will know of Tommy and his talent and this workshop for adults is one not to miss.

Paddy has been playing music all his life, beginning at 10 with guitar, banjo and mandolin. By 20 he was an expert on the bouzouki. Based in his native Tullaroan, Co. Kilkenny, Paddy is regarded as one of Ireland’s leading stringed instrument makers, producing mandolins, mandolas, bouzoukis, acoustic guitars and tenor guitars which have been sold all over the world. Don’t miss your chance to learn from a true master of his craft in this very special workshop in Rothe House.

Sibéal Davitt is a dance artist, performer and teacher from Dublin. Her style of dance is influenced by contemporary, classical and Irish traditional ‘sean-nós’ dance, having trained in all styles from an early age. Sibéal has taught workshops all over the world including Russia, Austria, UK, France and New York City as well as at many traditional Irish music festivals. Join Sibéal for an energetic seán-nós dance class in Kilkenny for Tradfest 2019 - suitable for adults and children with some experience.

Orla has a deep passion for the Irish harp and it’s tradition and is delighted to share this passion in a masterclass in the beautiful setting of Rothe House. She will guide you through the ancient tradition of harping in Ireland from the sixteenth century to the present day with many beautiful musical interludes throughout. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the harp from a great exponent of the instrument in an intimate setting.

Taught by local multi-instrumentalist and award winning sticksman Jeremy Hickey, this drumming workshop aims to provide both a fun and educational experience. Whether you’re looking for a therapeutic outlet, a way to improve team building skills and productivity, or just if you want to make some noise then this is a must! Drumming is proven to reduce stress levels and gives an enormous sense of well being, not to mention an enjoyable way to learn new skills in pulse and rhythm.
