Bangalore has been in infamous for its failure to manage its waste and was labeled the Garbage City in 2015. Most of the major landfills of the city have been closed. The city continues to generate colossal waste without having an appropriate waste management systems.

The city is also know as the Silicon Valley of India and has been generating the fastest growing toxic stream of waste - E-waste. Understanding the cities relation with electronics and the concerns on E-waste necessitated, creating an awareness amongst the masses.
As part of the Namma Metro and Art in Transit project, I decided to create an instillation to bring about awareness and learning amongst the masses (commuters) towards E-waste management and handling. The instillation is a map of Bangalore that shows live representation of comparative e-waste generation amongst the 198 wards of Bangalore. The Map in itself is a designed PCB (Printed Circuit Board) that represent the live data on e-waste generation via sound, movement and light.
using the Third Teacher Approach through the principles of competitiveness and ownership.
The instillation when functional will result in E-waste collection through spreading awareness about an organization that works with proper handling of e-waste - Bin-Bag. This data of e-waste collection will reflect on the map. The prototype has been handed over to Namma Metro.
Working on a base cartographic map of the city, I overlaid the political ward boundaries to create a platform to display data of comparative e-waste generation for Bin Bag. This data represents itself in a dynamic display on the e-waste map instillation.
