AUXIL IA RY PRESIDE NT 2017- 2018:
This Memorial Day as in previous Memorial Days we honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our great nation. We set this special day aside to decorate the gravesites of our fallen Service Members as a way to pay homage. The most significant gift we can give our fallen heroes and the families they leave behind is the gift of remembrance. This Memorial Day weekend I encourage you to fly your American Flag proudly, spend quality time with family and friends. Enjoy the beautiful California weather with barbeques, good beer from a local brewery; but please, make time to attend a local Memorial Day Service and wherever you are at 3:00 p.m., on Memorial Day, pause for just one minute to remember, respect and honor. Many fought and died so that we can!
As this year comes to an end I just want to say that it’s been an honor for me in representing the fines ladies of our Auxiliary. My responsibility as District President was to visit each unit and I sincerely thank you all for your gracious hospitality, rearranging some of your meetings to accommodate my visit and the great times we had during my visits. I learned so much of the many different ways each unit works our programs and observed your commitment as members of the American Legion Auxiliary in service for our Veterans, Military and their families. From serving up your fabulous dinners, to the many different fundraising events, to reaching out to our veterans and assisting them when they needed transportation or even just a shave and a haircut — our veteran hospitals, Camp Pendleton, MCRD & MCAS all know who the women of the Mighty 22nd are from the selfless and generous ways you’ve reached out to them throughout this year.

In an attempt to reach out to the public and letting them know who we are and what we do, this year we brought our Facebook page back to life, we’ve posted on the legion website and steps are in place now to establish our own web page. Our attendance at the district meetings has been low and our membership isn’t up where it should be but it’s been like that across the board with other California districts. Thank you for your patience with Department as they struggled this year being under staffed, they are on the mend now as well.
