WEARE BRINGINGYOU THE LATEST FROM OUR KAPPAQUEEN SISTERHOOD! BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THE RELEASE OF OUR UPCOMING ISSUES WITH MOREAMAZING WOMEN THAT IMPACT THEIR COMMUNITIES NATIONALLY!
Each year on March 19th, we celebrate the day that our Christian sisterhood became incorporated in the state of South Carolina as a nonprofit organization. Moreover, we recognize the service of our sorors in national communities known as “National Impact Week” which highlights work being done leading up to Founder’s Day. We, as a divinely appointed sisterhood, are grateful for genuine fellowship, unity, service, and empowerment anchored in Christ. Hallelujah!
Why did you begin a Christian Sorority? I always felt the need to belong somewhere. I wanted to join other traditional sororities but I wanted to make sure that I could truly be accepted as myself. So with God's direction, I designed a Christian Sorority for women to experience true sisterhood without worrying about fitting in or being picked over for membership.
What were your challenges with developing Kappa Epsilon Lambda Royal Christian Sorority, Incorporated? Finding an effective way to promote the group was difficult at one point until I found what works. Staying encouraged was also difficult because I wasn't seeing results they way I wanted at first.
Does your sorority address a need in society concerning Christian women? Yes, because were a sisterly support system that empower each other to embrace their individuality and uniqueness in Christ unapologetically. In other words, it’s okay for women be themselves in our group. Moreover, we cater to the need of belongingness and acceptance so that we can help our royal Christian sisters thrive in their purpose.
How did you get into pageantry? My pageant journey is rather unique. I began my pageant journey as a state queen for the Miss Heart of the USAplatform in December 2021. So I applied for their national pageant but unwittingly became the first Miss IAM H.E.R. International because of what God wanted to do through IAM H.E.R. International. Then I proceeded to become the National Miss Heart of the USA“Queen of Hearts” later in 2022.
What is one of your “go-to” Scriptures and why? Psalm 139:14 because it lets me know that I’m fearfully and wonderfully made.To me, this mean that there is nothing wrong with how God designed me.
Kappa Queens are big on discussing mental health. What tips would you like to share concerning this topic? Mental health deals with how we interact with life. Sometimes mental issues stems from things that are emotional, clinical, physical, and even spiritual. It’s also important that we question where these mental challenges stem from whenever we feel that we’re in a low place. So it’s important to seek help from someone that cares and not someone that we expect to care which makes a big difference.
What is a lesson you’ve in life that you like to share with others? Don’t let others tell you who you are especially if it’s not good.
What are your hobbies, interests, or things that bring you joy? I like reading books by Kimberla Lawson Roby, going to the nail salon, and just having a nice relaxing day.
What are some encouraging words that you would like to share with our readers? Love who you are so much that you don’t have to hate anybody. People that don’t love themselves seek to bring out the worst in others. But if you love yourself, then you have no need to hurt others but rather help bring out the best in them.
”No one has the right to tell you that you’re not important, that you’re not valuable, to tell you who you are, to give you a name, to give you a label that’s less than what God has intended for you to have.”
