In 2021, Kanuga began a slow, steady recovery out of the COVID-19 pandemic. We welcomed some of our conferences back, and reopened Camp Kanuga. Mountain Trail Outdoor School acted responsively to create a daytime program. And we invited the Kanuga community to a service weekend, Kanuga Homecoming, which brought more than sixty friends of Kanuga together to rejoice, serve, and worship in community. Perhaps the most exciting and satisfying of all events at Kanuga since 2019, however, was Thanksgiving Guest Period, by which time all areas of operations were running much more smoothly. Your investment in Kanuga through philanthropy, volunteer work, and storytelling continues to support our shared work in making Kanuga the place we all love so dearly.

I continue to be inspired by the many ways our Kanuga family has come together to make this moment of renewal possible. Camp Kanuga alumna has come to Kanuga every summer since she was eightyears-old. “ The rst time we came was to celebrate my grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary,” she says, “We haven’t missed a summer since. When I turned eleven, I started as a camper at Camp Kanuga, and

that’s where I began to really love nature and hiking.” Eventually that love led to an interest in becoming a scout in her hometown of Charlo e, North Carolina, where there were very few female scouts, and even fewer female Eagle Scouts.
