OFFICIAL GUIDEBOOK June 2-4, 2021

ISE. This year, we have seen a variety of people rise to the occasion. Farmers, healthcare workers, community members, teachers, advisors, students, and FFA members. Our students have shown resilience, inspired those around them, exhibited strength and embodied just how essential agriculture is. Now we have the opportunity to showcase those traits of Kansas FFA members as we rise together, celebrating accomplishments and actions. With 9,800 members in 219 chapters, we will see the unwavering support and work that is done by chapters, advisors and members all across our state at the 93rd Kansas FFA State Convention with everyone having access to watch from their classroom, or living room. FFA members, advisors, supporters and community members all have the ability to rise to greater heights, but together Kansas FFA will RISE up for our state convention! — 2020-2021 Kansas FFA State Officer Team Left to right: Elizabeth Sturgis, Riverton – President; Abby Johnson, Southeast of Saline – Vice President; Kiran Elam, Beloit – Treasurer; Bailey Sipes, Stanton County – Secretary; Hattie Polson, Frankfort – Reporter; Hannah Graybill, Labette County – Sentinel.

STATE PROFICIENCY AWARD FINALISTS The agricultural proficiency award program recognizes excellence in supervised agricultural experience (SAE) programs. The program rewards FFA members at the local, district, state and national levels for exceptional accomplishments in progressing toward specific career objectives in agriculture. Entrepreneurship program: For FFA members whose SAE involves owning an agricultural production operation or agribusiness enterprise. Placement program: For FFA members whose SAE involves working for others for wages or experience. We would like to honor all the district proficiency applications that were considered for state evaluation. Please note that in some cases members won two areas on the district level and were able to select their first proficiency area to be reviewed for state evaluation. If they won that area their second application was removed from consideration. If they were not selected as a winner in their first area of consideration their second application was then reviewed. KANSAS FOUNDATION Dear Kansas FFA members, alumni, and guests,

W

elcome to the 2021 Kansas State FFA Convention! We are excited for this week and ready to celebrate the achievements made by members and the accomplishments of some of our 216 Kansas FFA chapters as we recognize some of the best and brightest future agriculture leaders. Even though the past 12 months have been like nothing we’ve ever experienced before, the strength, resilience, and perseverance of our members and agriculture education teachers have shown through.. Although we are not gathering this week on the campus of Kansas State, the support and excitement we have for these members continues at the highest level. We have been truly blessed with amazing companies, organizations, and individuals who have been willing to invest in the Kansas FFA Foundation this past year, allowing us to support young people through programs, scholarships, grants, and opportunities. As you thumb through this program booklet, take note of the companies and individuals mentioned here as sponsors, and please express your appreciation to them as you interact with them in your communities or do business with them throughout the year. We truly could not accomplish our mission of developing premier leadership and personal growth in young people without their support. As you take in convention events this week from the comfort of your local communities and homes, please think about how you’ve been able to “Rise up” thanks to the influence of the Kansas FFA or a dedicated agriculture education teacher. Through all of the difficulties of this past year, we can still be thankful for our many blessings. If you are so inclined, you are invited to make a one-time, recurring monthly gift or even establish an estate plan that would honor Kansas FFA for years to come. Sincerely,

Kevin Harris Chair, Kansas FFA Foundation Board of Trustees

THE FFA CREED I believe in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words but of deeds – achievements won by the present and past generations of agriculturists; in the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come to us from the struggles of former years. I believe that to live and work on a good farm, or to be engaged in other agricultural pursuits, is pleasant as well as challenging; for I know the joys and discomforts of agricultural life and hold an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I cannot deny. I believe in leadership from ourselves and respect from others. I believe in my own ability to work efficiently and think clearly, with such knowledge and skill as I can secure, and in the ability of progressive agriculturists to serve our own and the public interest in producing and marketing the product of our toil. I believe in less dependence on begging and more power in bargaining; in the life abundant and enough honest wealth to help make it so – for others as well as myself; in less need for charity and more of it when needed; in being happy myself and playing square with those whose happiness depends upon me. I believe that American agriculture can and will hold true to the best traditions of our national life and that I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task. — The creed was written by E.M. Tiffany of Lyndon, Kansas, and adopted at the Third National FFA Convention. It was revised at the 38th and 63rd National FFA Conventions.

THANK YOU!

M dedicate countless hours of their time to plan,

ore than 200 alumni, industry, and other individuals

organize, and execute all of the events that make up the Kansas FFA Convention. Even this year, as we gather virtually, Kansas is blessed to give members, guests, and supporters an amazing experience for celebration and growth, all with a volunteer-run convention. Thank you to these volunteers who have risen to the challenge, and put in many hours of time to make the 93rd Kansas FFA Convention possible!
