Kannapolis 101 Classes Start September 5 Curious about how your City government works? Want a behind-the-scenes look at everything from the police department to economic development to the wastewater treatment plant? Want to understand how the City budget works? Kannapolis

101 gives residents that behind-thescenes look. This special nine-week program begins September 5. It is held at various city facilities from 6-8 p.m. The program is free and first priority is given to Kannapolis residents.

annapolis residents are discovering healthy lives by taking part in Loop the Loop and the Run Kannapolis Series, which have resulted in empowering stories of family togetherness, community pride, and significant mental and physical health benefits.

Kearsten Kuddie and fam

Kearsten Kuddie decided to participate in the Run Kannapolis Series after she had become an avid runner. In 2010, she decided she wanted to live a healthier lifestyle, but with two children, that became a tough reality because spending money on a babysitter each time she went to the gym was unrealistic for her family. Instead, she decided to download the Couch to 5K app, where she found her love of running and proved to herself that running three miles was not impossible.

For Kuddie, running is therapy. She has enjoyed participating in Loop the Loop because of the smiling faces and friendly hellos. Her children even join in on the action when they are walking or running with her by interacting and encouraging everyone along their Continued on page 2
