iscover Fun in Kannapolis returns this summer with an incredible lineup of great concerts, movies and, of course, fireworks. Events will be held through August and all events are free to the public. Children 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. You are welcome to bring your lawn chairs. No pets or smoking, please. Food and drinks will be on sale in the parks during the events. Other events in Kannapolis to enjoy in 2021 include Kannapolis Cannon Ballers baseball games (www.milb. com/kannapolis), Christmas events and much more. The City of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation staff will follow best practices regarding COVID-19 precautions. The CDC recommends that anyone who has not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 continue to wear a mask and maintain a social distance. Flag Football Registration
Kannapolis 101 Classes Start September 14
The City of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department has opened registration for Flag Football for children ages 5 to 14. Registration will close on July 31.

The registration fee is $40 for Kannapolis residents and $60 for non-residents, which includes the cost of uniforms, practices and games. Scholarships and sponsorships are available.
Kannapolis 101 gives residents a behindthe-scenes look at how your local City government works. This special nine-week program begins September 14. It is held at various City facilities from 6-8 p.m. The program is free, and priority is given to Kannapolis residents.
Splash Pads Now Open The Village Park Splash Pad is now open! The Splash Pad hours are Monday – Saturday, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sunday from noon – 6 p.m. Village Park is located at 700 West C Street. Admission is $1.50. Boomer’s Splash Zone at Atrium Health Ballpark is open every day. This splash pad is self-operated by children playing in the splash pad. There is no admission fee. Practices begin August 23, and games will start September 11. The season will end October 30. Games and practices will be held primarily at Safrit Park. Visit kannapolisnc.gov or call Parks and Recreation at 704-920-4343 to register, apply for a scholarship and sign up to be a coach or sponsor.
Farmers Market The Kannapolis Farmers Market is open every Thursday, 4-7 p.m., at the corner of Vance Avenue and Dale Earnhardt Boulevard. The market continues through September. Sign up for text message reminders and updates about the farmers market and specials that vendors may be offering. Text MARKET to 855-969-4358. This is a new number so if you subscribed before, you will need to sign up again. You may unsubscribe at any time.

Kannapolis Seeks Input on Future Skatepark The City of Kannapolis is studying the idea of building a skatepark complex. City officials began the process after receiving input from parents, children and skate enthusiasts. The City has hired Pillar Design Studios to assist with the first steps of the process, which is to consider the best location for the complex based on what features and amenities are desired. The public is invited to give their input and comments regarding the park during a Public Input Meeting. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on July 27 at City Hall, 401 Laureate Way.
