The Kannapolis Fire Department will once again host a Fire Truck Parade as part of the Fire Prevention Festival, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, September 28. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and proceed along Laureate Way and N. Research Campus Drive, between City Hall and the North Carolina Research Campus.
Kannapolis Fire Department Achieves Number 1 Rating for Fire Insurance
T This event’s theme is Not Every Hero Wears A Cape – Plan and Practice Your Escape. It focuses on fire prevention, having working smoke alarms and planning your home escape route. There will be music, emergency vehicles, helicopters, a kids’ firefighter challenge course, inflatable games and vendors on the horseshoe in front of City Hall. Food will be available for purchase. Additional activities and vendors will be in The Laureate Center at City Hall. The new downtown linear park/streetscape is starting to take shape. It’s going to be amazing when it opens this Fall! Check your toilet for leaks by putting a few drops of food coloring in the tank, and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes. If the water in the bowl is colored, replace the flapper valve inside the tank. A 1/32-inch sized leak can waste 18,500 gallons in a year!
The third quarter of the year is fast approaching, so make sure you and your furry friends log your miles at kannapolisnc.gov/looptheloop! Earn prizes when you reach 50, 75, 100 and 150 miles for the year.
