3 Easy Ways to Register

ONLINE

Prior to registering online, you must set up a household account. Visit icevalleycentre.com, click "Register Online" and click "Log In/Create Account". Once your account is created, you may search the online catalogue for programming and events. Click the program you want to register for and follow the directions. All online registrations require payment at the time of registering.

PHONE

Call us at (815) 939-1946 to register over the phone. All phone registrations require payment at the time of registering.

INPERSON

You may register in person at the rink's front desk during business hours. Please check out website for facilities hours.

Payment Options

We accept cash, check and credit cards. All phone and online registrations require a credit card. All credit cards are subject to a convenience fee with a minimum charge amount of $1.00.

Deadlines

Please note all registration deadlines in this guide. Registrations will not be accepted past the class deadline.

Makeup Classes

Learn to Skate students are allowed to make up one class, so long as the class has a second day

Equipment Rental Skate Rental

Taking a hockey class but don't have the equipment? Rent from us! Bag and equipment rentals are available per session at no fee. Please contact Zach Mullady at zmullady@kvpd.com to schedule an equipment fitting.

Skate rental is included for ALL Learn to Skate and Hockey programs. This does not include Public Skate, Drop in Hockey, Stick N' Puck or Freestyle Ice hours.

Learn to Skate USA Membership

All programs listed under the Learn to Skate and Hockey programs at Ice Valley Centre require a 2025-2026 Learn to Skate USA Membership before the first day of classes.

This membership, which is $20 once per July 1 - June 30 season, can be obtained by visiting learntoskateusa.com. When enrolling, please select Ice Valley Centre Ice Arena as your home rink so you will be included on our program roster.

For more information on this membership, please visit www.learntoskateusa.com. All skaters that had a 2024-2025 Membership will need to renew their membership before starting classes.

Ice Explorers

Little skaters, big fun! Ice Explorers is an introductory class designed for our youngest skaters to explore the joy of skating in a playful, encouraging environment Over 30 minutes, children will sing songs, play games on and off the ice, and get comfortable in their skates perfect for hesitant beginners Please note: the first class will be off ice only.

Basic 1

Our Basic 1 class is the perfect first step onto the ice! In this fun and supportive program, skaters will learn how to safely fall and get up, glide across the rink, and try beginner skills like swizzles Along the way, they’ll build confidence, make friends, and discover just how much fun skating can be

Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes, with skate rental included A helmet is strongly recommended for safety This class is also a prerequisite for our Hockey Academy.

Little Blades 1-4

This unique and fun-filled class teaches the fundamentals of skating to children ages 3-5. Each week, skaters will learn basic balance and skating skills in a themed environment in this 45 minute class We incorporate age appropriate on-ice activities, where skaters will develop the coordination and strength necessary to maneuver on the ice independently.

Learn to Skate USA Membership is required To purchase your membership, visit learntoskateusa.com. *No classes November 25 and 29. This class is also a prerequisite for our Hockey Academy.

For skaters who have successfully passed Basic 2 In this combined class, skaters will learn in this level beginning stroking, half swizzle pumps, backward one foot glides and backward snowplow stops.

All weekly classes are 45 minutes of instructional time and skate rental is included. A Learn to Skate USA Membership is required. To purchase your membership, visit learntoskateusa.com. Skaters who have successfully passed Basic 4 will be eligible to join The Academy *No classes November 25 and 29.

In this combined class, skaters will be introduced to advanced backward skating including backward edges and backward crossovers as well as new turns, jumps and spins. Skaters who successfully pass Basic 6 will move on to the Kankakee Figure Skating Academy or Advanced Freeskate class

Adults 1-6

This program introduces the beginner adult skater to the basics of skating. As skaters advance, new and exciting skills such as jumps, spins, footwork and artistic elements will be introduced The class also promotes physical fitness and improves balance and coordination while learning proper skating techniques. Divided into six levels, adult skaters will progress at an individual rate while being challenged and motivated

The Kankakee Figure Skating Academy

The Academy is designed to teach skating skills at a faster pace in a small group environment. This seven week training program will provide skaters with a variety of on ice skating instruction as well as the opportunity to develop further mastery of their skills by working in a semi-private or small group. This class is perfect for anyone wanting to perform in ice shows, compete, learn new disciplines in figure skating or wanting to advance through the levels quicker Ask about out Academy discount for an add on specialty class!

Academy Bronze: Basic 5-6 skaters

Academy Silver: Pre-Freeskate - Freeskate 2 skaters

Academy Gold: Freeskate 3-6 skaters

Academy Platinum: Skaters who passed Freeskate 6

Advanced Freeskate

For skaters who have successfully passed Basic 5 and 6. Begin your journey with the Freeskate curriculum during our Advanced Freeskate class! Skaters will work at their own pace to progress through the levels, beginning with Pre-Freeskate

Jumps + Spins Specialty Class

This fall, elevate your figure skating with our specialty classes designed to complement your training In the Jumps + Spins class skaters will focus on improving speed and power in their jumps while mastering the fundamental mechanics. As you progress, yo tackle more challenging jumps and learn to combine them into sequences with edges and turns Currently in our Academy or Adult Program? Beyond the Edge Specialty Class

Join us for our Beyond the Edge Specialty Class, designed to enhance your skating precision and fluidity This class focuses on developing strong edges, mastering various turns, and improving footwork skills essential for all levels of figure skating. Skaters will engage in targeted drills and exercises that promote balance, control, and agility on the ice Currently in our Academy Program? Ask about our multi class discount!

AIM! w/ Aspire Excel & Beyond Ages: 8+

Hockey 1

Hockey 1 has a focus on skating fundamentals. This program is designed to build confidence and proficiency, setting a solid foundation for those looking to advance in hockey Hockey stance, Falling and recovering, Snowplow stops, c-cuts and more will be taught in this class.

All twice weekly classes are 45 minutes of instructional time and skate rental is included. A helmet, Learn to Skate USA Membership and completion/passing of Basic 2 is required.

Hockey 2

Hockey 2 has a focus on skating movement This program is designed for those who have mastered the basics and are ready to enhance their skating skills further, building on the foundation laid in Hockey 1. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of movement and control on the ice, improving their agility and speed.. V-pushing into strides, backwards marching, Backward C-Cuts, and stopping will be taught

All twice weekly classes are 45 minutes of instructional time and skate rental is included A helmet and Learn to Skate USA Membership is required Completion/passing of Hockey 1 is required.

Hockey 3 + 4

Hockey 3 and 4 works on skating skills to get your player ready to join a team Skills will focus on cross overs to gain speed, backwards c-cuts, backwards stops, stopping and starting, and backwards crossovers These sessions are designed to challenge skaters and refine their skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for the demands of team hockey Each class is tailored to provide individual feedback and support, fostering an environment where young athletes can thrive

All twice weekly classes are 60 minutes of instructional time and skate rental is included. A helmet and Learn to Skate USA Membership is required Completion/passing of Hockey 2 is required
