It’s hard to believe this snowy scene from the Kamloops Film Festival was taken just last week. The festival wrapped up on the weekend after two weeks of red carpet, showing flicks like the Oscar-winning Moonlight, hosting discussions and more. Up next by the Kamloops Film Society is the spring film series, which kicks off next month. Watch for the titles in upcoming editions of Kamloops This Week or online at kamloopsfilmseries.ca.

Bees and the Bare Bones will perform on March 17 at the Aberdeen Community Coffee House at Highlands Community Centre, 1885 Linds Way. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Doc and the Disorderlies is the featured act at the Barnhartvale Coffee House the following night, on Saturday, March 18. The four-piece acoustic band is composed of Chris Doherty, Gary Nielsen, Bruce Campbell and Fain Weiss. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the music starts at 7 p.m. and there is an open-mic section for other musicians to perform. It will be held in the Barnhartvale Community Hall, seven kilometres up Barnhartvale Road just past the Dallas PetroCan station. Admission for both events is $5 but free for open-mic performers. Children under 12 are also free for the Barnhartvale coffee house.
