Dear readers, Issue three is finally here. This is not just another piece of publication to inspire, entertain and educate you; this particular edition is an embodiment of four months of team work, research, deliberation, obstacles, failures and retrials. Behind this edition lies a cup full of stories I would only be able to narrate to you over a bottle of Champaign. Society would say the first is usually the toughest but in this case, this third edition is. Considering the political tension coupled with the presidential elections that took place on October 7th, I almost didn't believe this third edition would come through this year but as the saying goes, winners don't quit and quitters don't win so here we are gazing at the third edition of the KamerLink Magazine released on December 14th 2018. Credit to the team for not relenting. It's no news the KamerLink Magazine is all about Entertainment and Entrepreneurship so this time around we found special interest in celebrating the #StrongWomen. Without creating an atmosphere of favoritism, our key stories will pay more attention to women making the difference in the afore mentioned fields. Who would make a better cover story than our afro pop queen Daphne Njie ? ... Her recent achievements have been overwhelming and to crown the year, she was the lone Cameroonian artiste to win an award at Afrima 2018 (Best Female Artiste In Central Africa) adding to her cupboard full of trophies and international recognitions. Daphne has become a house hold name in Cameroon but no one really knows the story of her life, her career and the things she did to get where she is today. I'll advise you grab a cup of coffee as we take you through a journey of discovery, entertainment and enrichment. Mbonjem Lesly Aponglen AKA Fhish is native of Awing, Northwest Region of Cameroon. The singer ,songwriter and performer dropped from studying Visual Arts in the University of Bamenda to pursue a bigger love- Music. He stormed the music scene in January 2018, under the record label Manjong and has so far released two songs; “Bonbon sifflet” and “coup de poing”in May and October 2018 respectively which arguably recorded a lot of love from Cameroonian music lovers. According to Fhish succeeding in the Cameroon music scene takes a lot of guts, persistence and investment because talent in itself is not enough. The Douala resident hopes to blend his serenading voice with dance as he plans to become a dance choreographer in the nearest future.
This Nso Diva is a professional dance artist, choreographer, lover of Culture and author of the movement “Rootz” which is meant to propagate culture is one of the fastest rising Cameroonian dancers. Banye Aline Verla Akwanka Queen popularly known as Aline Snuff was in Banso. After her secondary and High school education, she realized music was her thing and aftter her 3 years dance experience with University of Buea Fans Club, Aline decided to go professional in 2016 though her family called it a “scary” adventure. Two years of consistency and hard work has earned her features with several top artists like: Blanche Bailey, Daphne, Tzy Panchak, Mr Leo, Pascal, Salatiel, Stanley Enow, Zinnia, Blaise B,Mihney, MelB She is also Mr Leo’s dancer and has toured a couple of African countries with Mr Leo and her other dance colleagues like Ivory Coast,Burkina Faso,Togo and Guinea Conakry opening her up for professional networking with other international dancers, artists amongst others. She was nominated for the Green light awards 2018 in the category of best video performances (TeamLeo).She also has a passion for Cameroon cultural emancipation to which she started the project “ROOTZ” and “ROOTZ KITCHEN” for Cameroonian cultural dances and traditional meals. WAN SHEY is a Cameroonian rapper, singer, entrepreneur and record label executive born in Tatum, Kumbo on 8th November 1988, in the north west region of Cameroon. Wan Shey officially launched his career with his hit single “wuna morning” skillfully produced by iron bitz and brought to visuals by tgim pictures. After that he has been on a steady path to redefine rap music in the country as he released songs like “status update i & ii”, “wangoku”, “grass”, “head of family” and much recently a twin EP project which consisted of two world class EPs of 7 tracks each called “Chopchair” and “Serene”. He has a total number of 5 music videos which can be found on his YouTube channel @sabiboyrecords. He has worked with other big names in the industry like ROQZEN, TIRAJAI, DADDYBLACK, N.A.T, YOUNG HOLIDAY, LANJO, ABZ, BARON KARSSON, BLAHK SANTA, ARREY, KIKOH, AMDI, ARREY.Since his entry into the music scene, Wanshey has recorded a steady increase in Fanbase. He equally emerged as the winner of the 2018 Kamerfest fanpick contest. TheYaounde-based independent artist looks up to many great artists in the likes of Jovi, Stanley Enow, Cfx Musica Cameroon and Krotal.
Shura
Fru Shura Tatiana (SHURA) is a singer/song writer signed to Steven’s Music Entertainment. The Buea-based artist discovered her passion for music at a tender age,sang in so many choirs and did back up for several artists.She took music as a career in 2015 after her two bachelor’s degrees in Law and Nursing. She released her debut single titled “Te be kwi” then came “Gweme boza”, “Atalakou”, followed by her hit single “Allez dire”. In October 19th 2018 she simultaneously released“Tranquille” and “Dire moi tout” Shura has been nominated in awards such as AFRIMA, Green Light Awards, etc. She has had several performances and projects nationally and internationally with.She has been spotted with Serge Beynaud and Sidiki Diabate and fans anticipate a collabo in the near future. She says amongst her favorite artist worldwide, she looks up to Charlotte Dipanda and Charesse Fosto.
Gomez
24 year old Gomez-Julius Oshijirin was born at Mt Mary Hospital, Buea is a holder of a BSC in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Buea. The Lion Nation signee fell in love with music right from his secondary school days after succumbing to pressure from friends who encouraged him to give it a try.After listening to “Hein Pere” by Stanley Enow, “E GO Better” by Mr. Leo and “Holla At Your Boy” by Wizkid, Gomez decided he would start a career in music. Almost immediately after his deal, the song “Beaute” was released and has recorded considerate success. Since then, the 2018 nominee for “Best New Act “at the Urban Jamz Awards is yet to bring another of his works to the public’s eye for consumption. If Gomez had to choose a different profession, He would be a Formula 1 Driver or Business man.
Lanjo
Shinyuy Clifford Lanjo aka DJ Cliff is a young Cameroonian artiste & music producer based in Douala. He developed a likeness for music while singing for the church choir. Lanjo combined his knowledge in computer maintenance and music and by 18, He became a self-taught music producer. Lanjo made his first major statement in the music industry with the beautiful piece ‘Mutumbu for Kumbo’ after which he went underground to carry out more production. He has worked with artists like; Tzy Panchak, Nanova, Solotians, DJ Karl, Dragi P, Dyllann, Bryan Frico, Snappy, Tiana Nabi, Erna etc. He is the co-founder of the music label “Bush Lamp Nation” where he stands as the frontline artist and label producer. He has musically been influenced great stars like; 2Face Idibia and Sergio. His professional comeback in singing was launched with the slow love medley “Som”written and produced by himself directed by NE Films. Thereafter, he released a studio video of “Love” also shot by NE Films. Recently he got a partnership deal with Constellation Entertainment. With consistency in such moves, Lanjo is headed for a successful music career.
Matilda
Matilda Neunyi (MATILDA), born on15th July 1993 in Tiko is a native of Mbo in Nguti Sub Division, South West Region of Cameron. She obtained her primary and secondary education in Limbe where she had already nursed the dream making a career out of doing music. Matilda is signed to Masango records and has under this label released two love songs “Avec toi” and “Heart Mender” in 2017 and 2018 respectively. She is presently working on projects with some of Cameroon’s great producers Edi and Phill Bill Beatz .When Matilda needs to tap into her inspirational insights, she spends time listening to Charlotte Dipanda and Yemi Alade.

“I had an elder cousin who used to punish me to write down lyrics of artistes like Eminem, 2Pac etc. so that already layed a foundation and I decided to finish constructing years later (2008)”. The Bafaw boy, Renzur Epie whose remarkable adventure has been to the Monastery told Kamerlink Magazine. He has released several songs (audio and video);“Hater Proof” released in 2013 being his first. He just released the visualsof “BAD MAN TING” directed by Dr Nkeng Stephens this November 2018. His fans and family love and appreciate his music so much which to him is a great achievement. As a single artiste, Crispy went through tough times to sustain his career financially while dealing with failed contracts, fake promises and pressure. The vision, the dream, the determination kept him going and led him to where he is today. Presently he is signed to TEN12Music Group which makes things easier for him as he has more time to concentrate on dishing out good music while the label finances the projects. He resides in Buea and down for music any day, anytime.
Sojip Franck Quantin Sojip was born in Bafoussam and his musical steps can be traced back to the likes of Krotal, Bantou PO SI and AK Sang Grave .He has a Diplôma in Télécommunications networking obtained from the University of Douala. He stepped into music by 2012 while working with his band at the time“Helium protect”. When he went solo, hedropped 2 single and three free styles. The Big Dreams Artists recently released a song titled “9fort”. He plans to drop another single before the end of the year 2018. So far he has several singles, videos, freestyles and collabos with Cameroonian, Ivorian and Gabonese artistes. The Bamileke boy believes patience is vital for an artist to get to the peak of his career and being signed to Big Dreams Entertainment he can achieve all if not most of his musical aspirations.

1. Please tell us about yourself and what you do for a living; where you are from, where you grew up and what your childhood was like? I'm Njie Daphne Efundem, I'm an artiste from Buea and I grew up in Douala and Buea. 2. How did you get into music? Tell us about your career journey so far. Music has always been my lifestyle from birth but it was in 2014 when I met my production team Steven's Music Entertainment. They were scouting for a talent to sign and they heard my song among several other songs which were sent to them. They fell in love with my talent at a go, reached out to me, one thing led to another and here we are. My career as an artiste has been amazing so far with divine favour from God and I am confident what he has in store for me is even greater. 3. You sing a lot about love, relationship and assurance. Does it reflect your personal life out of music? My past relationships didn't work out well because I didn't know how to express my feelings to my partner. So in my songs I try to let my audience understand how important it is to express your feelings to your partner. 4. Who writes your songs? Some of my songs I do the writing myself and others in collaboration. I work with great Cameroonian song writers like; Salatiel, Mr Leo etc. 5. You have attained 'Superstar' status as an artiste in Cameroon, what will you attribute your success to? God, Divine favor, Team, Hard work, Consistency and unconditional support from family, friends and my fans. 6. You still manage to stay humble, what keeps you grounded? God is the reason why I stay humble. It's the doctrine I had growing up and actually humility has earned me a lot of open doors so far. 7. Do you make a living solely off your music? Or do you have side hustles? Yes for now. 8. What's your most cherished song so far and why? Broken. The song is a personal experience. 9. If you didn’t become a musician what would you be doing right now? Journalist. I'd definitely have been a journalist. 10. We understand you are quite educated with at least a bachelor’s degree. How did you manage to go through school while striving to become better in your music career? It's all about knowing where you come from, knowing where you are heading, finding your purpose in life and programming yourself properly. I've always wanted music but I always knew education will help me go a long way with this passion of mine.

11. What's the first paid show you ever did? What was your experience? DJ Arafat and Davido show in 2014. The crowd was warm and welcoming. It was an amazing first experience 12. What's the weirdest thing you ever saw happen during a performance or on stage? My Madagascar concert. There was a huge crowd. One moment I was on stage and before I could blink I was floating on the crowd. The crowd had pulled me off the stage and were passing me around with their hands. I’ve never been more terrified. 13. We were not informed of your marriage which is an indication that you are single. Are you in any serious relationship? If yes, how do you manage it alongside your music career? For now, I’m still single and searching (winks) 14. What has been your biggest challenge and how did you managed to overcome it? Stardom. Fame is so difficult to deal with and I can barely even explain how I manage through each day... 15. You are a successful female artist, what are the challenges you face because you are a woman, in a male dominated industry, and how do you face them? 16. Which under-rated music artist do you think people should know about? Boy Tag, definitely! 17. Who's your favorite living artist? Charlotte Dipanda 18. What advice do you have for young female artists, who look up to you? Believe in yourself and talent. Don’t sell your body or yourself less to be the artist you dream of. 19. Developed by African Americans in the 1970's, Rap/HipHop music in a very short while went viral even amongst non-African Americans. Cameroon amongst other African countries got a fair share of this contamination. This resulted in the rise of legendary acts like; Pit Baccardi, Krotal, Koppo, Stanley Enow, Jovi etc. Never the less, the rap/hip hop culture needed a special kind of loyalty to survive. Many embraced the culture but for one reason or the other gave up along the way. Here are some Cameroonian rappers who demonstrated so much potential but didn't pull through;

He is probably the first name that comes to mind when you think about music videos in Cameroon. You might want to know that he started off as a rapper by the name Flamez with the popular group Rythmz.
2. Kay 9ine
Started off as a musician but today into the business of it, Kay 9ine is one of those rappers who came into the game, demonstrated so much potential but took another path. Today if you see him, Mel B is not too far away; you know what I mean.
2014 - 2016 you wouldn't talk about female MCs without mentioning the name CIANA. Her growth was fast, so was her exit. Caroline Jabe aka Ciana is now finding her way in the Beauty/Skin care business.
4. Magasco
He is presently one of Cameroon's most celebrated artistes signed under Empire Company. He made his first steps into the industry as a rapper, slowly integrated singing into his art and today one can barely attribute rap to his name.
One would argue that if they gave up then maybe they weren't that good at all. Others will say quitters are not worth talking about; well we owe it to their initial contribution to the game and their excellence in their current fields.

pread proudly across the western highlands of Cameroon, Foumban is the capital of the Noun division. It plays host to the conspicuous Foumban palace which owes its architectural uniqueness to the exploits of the great Sultan Ibrahim Njoya. Constructed in 1917, this palace represents the Bamoun dynasty from Nshare, the very first sultan who by then was known as the “Mfon” from 1934 to present day. The palace strategically stands at the centre of the town depicting the era when allegiance to royalty was held in high hands. Inspired by former German colonial buildings the Foumban palace is principally made of artwork from the carvings on the wall, statutes, jewelry, masks, and skillfully designed thrones whose inspiration was drawn from every deceased member of the royal family.
The most outstanding feature of the Foumban palace is the museum. ”Musee des Arts et des traditions Bamoun” which is graced yearly by tourists who are attracted by its unique artifacts. It contains a detailed record of Bamoun historical lineage, administrative records, ancient medicinal formulas and the famous handwriting system produced by sultan Njoya known as the “Shumom”. It also contains gongs, a carved xylophone and other musical instruments. The Foumban palace remains a beauty to reckon with, one which has stood the test of time from strong winds to heavy down pours. However its beauty, one thing that still baffles its tourists who visit year in year out, no pictures can be taken of the interior. All they have to remind them of its magnificence, are the memorable experiences their eyes captures at the time of their visit.

Déposez de façon à faire un trait à l'une des extrémité du jambon, et faites pareil avec le fromage soit taillé en bâtonnet soit du fromage râpé (mozzarella ou emmental). • Roulez la pièce montée sur elle même et fixez la sur les extrémités à l'aide de cures dents. • Badigeonnez d'une sauce d'épices vertes du Cameroun et de l'huile avant de passer au bbq. • Tournez, laissez dorer et 20 minutes plustard la roulade est cuite. Enlevez les cure-dents avant de servir.

He hails from the North West Region of the republic of Cameroon and was born September 10th 1990. At a very young age, he showed great admiration for music and particularly rap. he 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is approaching and all fans are looking forward to some exciting weeks of soccer. Numerous football pundits, players and fans called on CAF to strip Cameroon off its hosting rights. Considering the backlashes ranging from delays in the construction of new stadiums and rehabilitation of old ones, lodging facilities, rehabilitation of roads, and the government’s inability to resolve the prolonged Anglophone crisis in the country for over 2 years, CAF has finally decided to make a statement. With anticipated influx of tourists the country was said to record one is tempted to ask if Cameroon was ready… The Problems
Delays in construction and rehabilitation coupled with the prolonged Anglophone crisis are some of the many problems Cameroon faces in prelude to AFCON 2019.When Cameroon won the bid to host the AFCON, they were expecting to host 16 teams as was the case with Gabon in 2017. But the proposed expansion to 24 teams has been Okayed by CAF after a symposium held in Morocco. “We leave the country to work with a private independent firm without influence whatsoever. It was up to them to provide us with the elements that will allow us after to say that Cameroon will be ready or that Cameroon will not be ready. But nothing will be negotiated,” Ahmad Ahmad said during a visit to Ivory Coast. While Cameroon's Sports Minister Pierre Ismael Bidoung reassuringly responded saying Cameroon is up to the task and will ensure a convenient environment for all competing countries. Meanwhile Algeria and Morocco put themselves forward as back-up options for the finals.

Recent reports suggest that stadium construction is behind schedule while Cameroon also faces economic problems. Cameroon's Sports Minister said that group games would take place in five cities, with Limbe having been added to the four venues mentioned in Cameroon's original bid: Bafoussam, Douala, Garoua and the capital Yaounde. However, more venues are needed for the teams' training - some of which were already used when Cameroon hosted the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in 2016.The stadiums in Yaoundé (the 60,000-capacity Olembe) and in Douala (50,000-capacity Japoma) are

Seedorf was appointed the new head coach of Milan on 16 January 2014, terminating his contract with Botafogo early in order to take on the managerial role, with Milan languishing in 11th in the Serie A table. Entertainment generally entails any activity designed to create amusement, relaxation, fun and pleasure. Entertainment law is not a single legal topic, it is characterized with generally applicable principles which boarders on variety of matters like intellectual property, contract, finance, tax, securities, business associations and labour arrangements. To be a successful player in the entertainment industry, requisite knowledge in the aforementioned areas is sacrosanct. The entertainment industry is perceived to be one of the fastest growing industries in Cameroon. The role of law in the regulation and standardization of this fast growing industry in Cameroon cannot be exaggerated. ROLE OF LEGAL PRACTITIONER IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY There are specific functions in the industry that require the expertise of a legal practitioner viz: • Contractual advice to clients, most clients enter into contracts without understanding the depth of it. Hence the need for a lawyer to advice/ guide you on the legal consequences. • Drafting and negotiating development and production contracts such as writer agreements, talent agreements and recording agreements. • Facilitating and negotiating distribution deals for an entertainment project. • Working on financing agreements for sponsorship, bank loans, co-production investments, grants, and other types of investments. • Preparing form agreements for clients such as appearance releases, location releases and license agreements.

• A lot of owners of intellectual property fail to register their works and an unregistered trademark owner cannot institute a proceeding to prevent or recover damages on infringement. • There also appears to be issues arising from contracts signed by parties in the industry. Most often than not this happens because the actors and actresses sign this contracts at a point where they are hungry for fame and have little or no cash, which makes them vulnerable to the managers who seem to hold their future. The agreements are usually drafted to exploit these upcoming players in the entertainment industry. • Reviewing contracts and other legal documents to analyze right issues or other business or legal questions. • Resolving contract disputes through alternative dispute resolution (Mediation, conciliation or arbitration). • Ensure the client is in compliance with the regulation agencies in the field they operate. • Institute an action in court for copyright infringement, trademark infringement breach of contract and other related matters. • Attend meetings on behalf of the client where necessary. • Assist the client with real estate deals e.g. carrying out due diligence on a proposed property to ensure the property is free from encumbrances. CHALLENGES IN THE CAMEROON ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY • The most prevalent issue in the entertainment industry in Cameroon is the increase in piracy.
• Furthermore, there is this notion that hiring a lawyer at the early stage of their pursuit is too expensive and unnecessary, they however fail to realize that the consequence of entering into contracts they do not completely understand outweighs the cost of hiring a lawyer. Lack of access to financing of the entertainment industry has been a major drawback for the industry. In conclusion, the entertainment industry is emerging and still in its formation stage in Cameroon and we recommend that awareness campaigns should be held frequently on the importance of intellectual property. Players in the entertainment industry need to come to terms with the fact that the role of a legal practitioner in the entertainment industry is pivotal at every stage. 1. How would you describe yourself? I’d say am that positive person who believes that everything is possible. I set my goals and no matter how long it takes or whatever comes my way, I make sure I realize them. I’m kinda a go-getter. 2. Where did the love for entertainment come from? As far as I’m concerned, I have been breathing entertainment from the moment I could walk. I used to be that dancing kid everyone knew & loved in the neighborhood and right up to the college. As young as I was, I’d organize dance competitions in my neighborhood, & people would gather to watch us & cheer up. No event would pass in town without me being invited to as I had no shame and would dance anywhere just with a sound of music (Soukouz back then). In fact I was loved everywhere. That’s how I grew up in the love and passion for entertainment to being what I am today. 3. You are based in the Diaspora, do you sometimes feel alienated from home based contextual movies/ actors? Not really. Though we are far away, we still share ideas & work together on several things to see to it the evolvement of our industry, for the platform we have is one that requires the involvement of everyone. That said, the industry must put in more efforts to bringing everyone in, as that’s the only tool that can take us to a reputable level. 4. You are an independent female film maker, how do your male colleagues handle a lady boss? Well well, generally men have notion that it is difficult for a woman to do it perfectly. Sometimes it is tough working with men but at the end of the day, as far as you’re able to convince them with the output, they fall in place and respect is accorded to each person accordingly. 5. From "Brides war to all things unholy" any other movie projects we should be expecting? Not anytime soon. My full focus is on the award (Next Generation Entertainment Awards) show right now to make it bigger & globally acclaimed than it already is. 6. You are the co-founder of the NGEA, and awards have always posed a polemic with merits. How different is your platform? We are a platform aimed at celebrating the entertainment culture in all dimensions & giving rising stars, multi-talents & creative individuals a medium recognizable in the global entertainment industry. You cannot be recognized if you do not standout in what you do. That’s the NGEA. 7. What has been the peak of your career so far? We’re a walking progress, hitting new targets as days go by. What we consider a normal success may mesmerize others to think it’s our peak but I’d say the best is yet to come. 8. As a business woman/entrepreneur what ideals do u operate by? Diligence, Discipline, Commitment, Accountability, Transparency, Diversity & Flexibility. 9. What does a typical day look like for you? Hustling between making a living, placing the award show, the NGEA on a bigger/higher scale & helping others where and when I can in attaining their dreams. Day is usually tough but we thank God for good health and strength. 10. What are the biggest challenges you've encountered in your career so far and how have you managed to overcome them? Having people to fit to the tasks we have in hand, having them believe in the vision, believe in the dream and be able to understand the vision of the entertainment industry in Africa and in the world at large. Knowing that we are in and industry that is relatively backward with no structure. The fear of the unknown is my biggest challenge. We just go in there with faith and anticipation that whatever we do will give us a good turnout. Doing an event and not knowing how many people will turn-up for the event is scary. You can do all your homework, promo etc but the weather, finance etc might just creep you down. So in summery having our community come out to support us is our biggest challenge.

Recherche de buzz ou juste s'exprimant à leur façon? Une navigation permanente sur internet m'a fait remarquer des styles plutôt hors du commun de la part de certains de nos acteurs du show-biz. Nous avons donc fait une recherche sur les 5 "Z'artistes" aux styles les plus déjantés. PS: c'est pas un classement ooooohhh!
1.Mani Bella
Quand une daronne se fait surnommer la "go palapala" on sait déja à quoi s'attendre. ou bien certains voulaient douter?? En tout cas kudos à Mani Bella. Elle a tout ce qu'il faut pour faire partir du classement.
2. Z-tra
La poupée ultra verte Z-tra, elle a tout ce qu'il faut pour être des nôtres. Le style de musique ooo, le vestimentaire ooo, les perruques ooo, et même les expressions.
3. Coco argentée
Lago galaxiec est une autre dimension. Son styliste doit être une personne pas originaire d'une autreplanète. Elle est sexy faut le dire tout comme il faut aussi avouer qu'elle a des allures décalées des fois hein. En tout cas quand on patrouille à la camerounaise, on aime tomber sur ce genre de patriotisme.
4. Mel b Akwen
Elle c'est la reine du royaume coq. Elle a des crêtes sous différentes formes et je suis sûre qu'elle ne nous a pas encore tout montré. Coté couleurs vives, coté punk, coté style unique; la go frappe seulement.
5. Blanche Bailly
Le bonbon barbie?? on la connait tous pour ses formes très généreuses. Elle sait nous en mettre plein la vue. Tellement elle en met tout le temps que sa crazy attitude ne saurait passer inaperçue. Ne venez pas mal hein, Blanche a aussi la bouche pour canaliser les clapets.
