This stage in the design process was focused on developing concepts through parti diagrams that were transformed into 3-D diagrams.
This concept was chosen to be further developed into a building. The concept illustrated is interlocking slopes. The main forms are sloping in opposite directions and interlock with each other. There are secondary forms abutting the main forms to add additional complexity.
The next step in the design was to understand the site. Using this understanding, diagrams were created to illustrate the factors that would influence design.
The 3-D massing was further developed to create a building. The form was used as a base that windows and facade screens were attached to. Through this process an interesting building was created that would be perfectly suitable for a museum, therefore leading to the name Hartford Honeycomb Museum.
The last step was to render the building and apply different materials and entourage. Then finally, place the rendered image into the a real image of the site. This helps bring the design to life and produces a realistic visualization of how the building would actually look.
