Weaving workshop

WEAVE HACKERS August 22-25, 2017 Tartu Art College (Estonia)

We will be test driving new loom-related inventions of textile artist and inventor Kadi Pajupuu. Let us twist the warps and bend the weft!

We will be using 12 handlooms, among them 2 Toika computer looms. Looms are ready to weave; warp materials include wool, cotton, linen and paper.

Participants are encouraged to share their experience in teaching the art of handweaving and show creative works that they and their students have made.

Price:Â EUR 300 (price includes workshop participation fee, materials used, coffee breaks, excursions and fees for museum visits). Price does not include accommodation and lunch.

WEAVE HACKERS

During this workshop weaving teachers and textile professionals can get hands on experience with the loom-related inventions of Estonian textile artist and inventor Kadi Pajupuu. The tools to be used include also Stepping Reed and RailReed. Introduction to MultiWeave – 3D printing with yarn.

Timetable:Â August 22 11-13 Arrival, coffee and introduction of participants 13-14 Lunch 14-17 Introduction of looms, tools and available materials, weaving 17-18 Discussion on weaving hacks August 23 10-13 Weaving 13-14 Lunch 14-18 Visit to ERM (Estonian National Museum) August 24 10-13 Weaving 13-14 Lunch 14-17 Weaving 17-18 Discussion on weaving materials August 25 8-18 Textile Tour. Visits to textile enterprises, wool factories and getting a glimpse of local culture and nature.
