2009 VMAs

In 2009 Taylor was nominated for Best Female Video award along with Beyoncé. Taylor won the award for her music video “You belong With Me” which beat Beyoncé’s music video “Single Ladies”. As Taylor was thanking everyone for her win, Kanye West took to the stage and grabbed the microphone out of her hands and said, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’mma let you finish, But Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!”. The crowd started booing Kanye but Taylor reportedly said she believed they were booing her. After Taylor left the stage both Taylor and Beyoncé were crying backstage while the producers tried to comfort them because Taylor had to perform during the next segment. While Taylor was singing on stage Beyoncé told a producer “I didn’t know this was going to happen, I feel so bad for her”. The producer let Beyoncé know that she would bring home the VMA for Video of the Year and that it would be a good idea for Beyoncé to bring Taylor onstage and let her have her moment back. After Taylor was done performing her and her mom tried to leave the event but the producer begged them to stay which they ended up doing and later that night when Beyoncé won the award she brought Taylor out and let Taylor have her moment back.
