Hotel Shinrinyoku

This project is located in Shibuya , Japan. This was a group project completed by a group of three people in my first semester at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The project brief was to design a Luxary hotel over an underground subway system which connects into the main lobby of the building. A lot of amenities such as a dining space, banquent hall, night club, art exhibition area and many more were planned out in a methodical manner which compliments japanese minimilism. The word Shinrinyoku means making contact with and taking in the atmosphere of the forest, this being our concept we created green pockets within the hotel to juxtapose the concrete jungle surroundings.

Since the site was located at the city center, near the Shibuya Scramble crossing, one of the major landmarks of the place. Due to the densely packed site surroundings a lot of traffic was observed to come from the scramble.
