y go-to for Christmas Day is the byyaya Jafar Sundress. It’s cool, stive, and comfy, with beautiful sequin and embroidery details. For any holiday occasion, the Rubyyaya Ohana Dress is my vourite. With two colour options nd a flattering belted style, it’s sy to wear with casual sneakers or white holsters—perfect for mily lunches or Boxing Day sales.

The Obbo Strapless Dress in green is my absolute favourite of the season perfect for Christmas Eve drinks or Christmas dinner. Plus, the colour palette is spot on for Christmas! For Christmas Day with the family, my second outfit option is the Adami Shirt and Shorts set. It’s simple, effortless, and ideal for a relaxed day. I love this set because it’s so comfy to wear while still looking put together.

“My Christmas outfit will be the Itami Siegel Dress Tennis Green. On Christmas Day, we ’ re having breakfast on the Gold Coast, lunch in Brisbane, and then heading back home to the Gold Coast. It’s 100% cotton, so it’s cool to wear all day and comfortable to travel in. The relaxed A-line fit gives me plenty of room to enjoy my many feasts while still looking stylish. Sadly, my mum and dad aren’t here to share Christmas with us anymore, but they were both keen tennis players in their day, so the racquet embroidery has sentimental significance for me. Since it’s a button-up, I can also wear it open over my swimmers as we sit by the pool to cool down. And being green, it’s perfectly festive!”

The Monaco Sundress in Geranium is my pick for Christmas Day lunch—it’s the perfect dress to look good while staying cool and comfortable. For Christmas drinks and get-togethers with friends, I’ll go with the Carrara Midi in green. I can dress this one up easily from day to night with some earrings and a little heel.

The Merida Sundress is my pick for Boxing Day. I love something bright and easy to slip on and off, as we usually spend the day at the beach with family!

CucumberMintMargarita

4 cucumber slices

6 fresh mint leaves

45ml tequila

15ml Cointreau (or triple sec)

30ml fresh lime juice

10ml agave syrup (optional, for sweetness)

Crushed ice

Sea salt or sugar for the rim

Cucumber ribbon and mint sprig for garnish

Method

Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip it into sea salt or sugar to coat.

In a shaker, muddle cucumber slices and mint leaves with lime juice and agave syrup (if using).

Add tequila, Cointreau, and ice. Shake vigorously until chilled.

Strain into a glass filled with crushed ice.

Garnish with a cucumber ribbon and a sprig of mint.

Method

In a glass, gently muddle the mint leaves with lime juice and simple syrup to release their aroma.

Add the cubed watermelon to the glass, lightly stirring to mix without breaking the cubes.

Fill the glass with crushed ice and pour the white rum (if using) over the top.

Top with soda water and give it a gentle stir.

Garnish with a mint sprig and a lime wheel.

60ml coconut water

30ml passionfruit pulp (fresh or canned)

15ml lime juice

15ml simple syrup (optional)

Soda water

Ice cubes

Mint leaves and passionfruit slice for garnish

Method

Fill a glass with ice.

Combine coconut water, passionfruit pulp, lime juice, and simple syrup, stirring well.

Top with soda water and stir gently.

Garnish with mint leaves, passionfruit and a lemon slice.

Longtime Kabana fan, Melinda Bourke, is a globetrotting travel guide whose passion for fashion is as vibrant as her exotic destinations. In this interview, she shares how Kabana fits seamlessly into her lifestyle, combining comfort, style, and versatility as she takes on the world.

WHAT ARE YOUR GO-TO KABANA STYLES FOR YOUR TRAVELS, AND WHY DO YOU LOVE THEM SO MUCH?

When travelling to a warm climate, I find dresses are the easiest option. You can simply pop them on with one or two accessories, and you ' re ready to go.

KABANA'S COLOURFUL AND RELAXED DESIGNS SEEM TO BE MADE FOR TRAVEL —WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE WAY TO WEAR THESE PIECES WHILE ON THE ROAD?

They definitely are! For example, on my recent trip to India, I was able to team the dresses with white pants to give a really local Indian vibe. The same goes for Morocco.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR RECENT TRIP TO INDIA! WHICH KABANA PIECES DID YOU TAKE WITH YOU, AND HOW DID THEY SUIT THE COUNTRY’S VIBRANT SURROUNDINGS?

I took quite a few pieces from Kabana. I particularly liked the dresses made from block print-style cotton. The styles were perfect long and with covered arms (yet cool), which was ideal for temple visits.

WHEN PACKING FOR A TRIP, HOW DO YOU SELECT KABANA PIECES THAT WILL WORK FOR BOTH SIGHTSEEING AND EVENINGS OUT?

I find most pieces are really adaptable for both day and night. I love dressing up every day, so it's never a problem!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO FELLOW TRAVELLERS LOOKING TO PACK FASHIONABLY AND COMFORTABLY FOR THEIR TRIPS?

I’m a terrible over-packer, so my advice is to pack and then cull. I always take a travel iron, and most hotels provide one, too, so don’t just pack boring, wash-and-wear items. Step it up, and you’ll feel fabulous!

HOW DOES KABANA HELP YOU FEEL CONFIDENT AND STYLISH, WHETHER YOU’RE AT HOME OR EXPLORING A NEW PLACE?

The fit is so good on me. And being menopausal, I need cool fabrics and flattering cuts, which Kabana delivers perfectly.

Since 2015, I’ve been taking groups of like-minded women to Bali, India, and Morocco. We’re women who love shopping, interior design, architecture, and fashion. I’ve made so many beautiful friends and created lasting memories through my business, Pineapple Villa.
