SKOPJE IN-BETWEEN: CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE CITY OUTSKIRTS
from Skopje In-Between
by k87a__
The idea of initiating conversations on the topic of the city’s periphery originates from the beginning of a territorial research for the northwestern parts of the Skopje region, and the proposed form of discussion has a dual purpose. On the one hand, to present the basic elements that highlight the specifics of a certain part of the periphery, and on the other hand, to confront and complement that situation with processes and topics that are equally important for the ultimate goal of sustainable / resilient areas. The topics that complement and supplement this research begin with the interweaving of architecture with social relations, digital technologies, production and their confrontation with the norms and regulations for arranging the space in a rural environment.
With these conversations about the outskirts of the city, we set a framework for new models of urbanity that arise from the specifics of a selected example and show the potential for interdisciplinary cooperation.
