Mrs. Shirley Oneal Martin Siddle was born March 5th, 1938, in Guilford County, North Carolina, a daughter of William E. and Willie Mae Martin, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Freddie Lee Siddle, a sister, Pamela Caldwell; three brothers, Vernell Martin, Carlton Martin, and Wayne Martin; and two grandchildren, Dexter Siddle and Chanissa Speaks.
At an early age, Shirley accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She received the precious gift of the Holy Spirit, and she loved to share her testimony about it. She was a devoted member of The Church of the Living God, where she served as the Mother of the church, sang in the Happyettes Senior Choir and the COTLG Mass Choir. She was also on the Kitchen Committee, where she was known for her delicious desserts. She believed in the power of prayer and the strength of scripture, and she will be remembered for her love of family, her servant’s heart, and her unwavering devotion to her faith.
Mother Shirley leaves to cherish her memory six children: Cathy Siddle of Kernersville, Robin Speaks (Michael) of Winston-Salem, Regina Siddle of Kernersville, Renita Siddle of Kernersville, Baron Siddle of High Point, and Sheletha Siddle of Kernersville; one brother, William Martin Jr. of WinstonSalem; three sisters, Ella Faye Siddle (John) and Waddell Dodd of WinstonSalem, and Martha Hemingway of Greensboro; a special cousin, Earlene Jacobs of Walkertown; three grandchildren, Felicia (Chris) Davis, Brandon Hughes, and JaVon Siddle; seven great-grandchildren, Timothy Smith, Aaliya Siddle, Amilia Siddle, Ethan Davis, Xavier Hughes, Aaliyah Hughes, Brandon Hughes Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Paul encourages believers not to grieve as those who have no hope, because they believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
