GRAND PIANO BOY Seven-year-old Wang tickles ivories, collects accolades
The Lake Bluff History Museum presents its annual home tour on December 2 The Lake Bluff History Museum’s annual Christmas Home Tour returns to Lake Bluff on December 2. Participants will get an insider’s glimpse at five Lake Bluff homes decorated to reflect each owner’s unique style. The popular fundraising event also features two holiday boutiques with diverse offerings from numerous vendors; they will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate shopping before, during and after the Christmas Home Tour. The tour’s most historic home is a Queen Anne-style house built in the late 1800s by Reverend Charles Trusdell, a Methodist minister who was also the Village of Lake Bluff ’s first president. This two-story home boasted a wraparound porch, which faced Artesian Lake (the area now known as Artesian Park). The house was renovated and enlarged in the 1990s and more recently by its current owners to combine the best of its historic features with modern-day living. The homeowner’s holiday décor lends vintage sparkle. In the 1990s Lake Bluff experienced a surge in new construction, and the two homes selected from this period are must-see gems. Eric Wang’s first memory of music was the song “The Wheels on the Bus”. He lis-
tened to it when he was learning to speak English. Now a 7-year-old second-grader at Ramona Elementary School in Wilmette, the precocious Wang is rolling — as a pianist. The cabinet in which he keeps the trophies
