When considering this holiday issue, I wanted to highlight “imagine.” Imagination fuels excitement and progress in life. Born with an instinctive curiosity and positive outlook, I have found that using my imagination can transform my life. “Think outside the box” has been my mantra for most days, helping me run a business that requires daily creativity. Many things can happen in this beautiful life if we use our imagination for good.

For me, there is no alternative. The world is facing tough times, both socially and economically. Gratitude and happiness are the two things that help us endure the transient nature of happiness, with the belief that “this, too, shall come to pass,” as nothing ever stays the same. There is always hope for brighter days, regardless of the challenging circumstances. As more people become aware of the benefits of applying Positive Psychology theories and methods to their daily lives, gratitude and happiness are climbing to the top of the “priority self” checklist. Gratitude frees us from toxic emotions.
Gratitude, happiness, inspiration, and information dominate our magazine’s values, and this issue elevates those themes with impressive stories.
Our cover star, Raminder Grewal, excels in many areas of life. We proudly present this gem to the world through his cover feature.
“In Pursuit of Everything,” Raminder’s story is inspirational and noteworthy. Consider these uplifting stories of love and light our gift to you this season of giving.
I am proud of what we’ve achieved over the years. I promise we’ll continue to inspire you for many more years!
2025 will be a year of epic growth and abundance for Drishti Magazine and all our partners. I’d like to wish everyone happy holidays and an excellent 2025.

Our post-industrial medicine has provided great insight and knowledge about human health, especially in understanding disease pathophysiology.
We have made tremendous progress in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases, thus resulting in better care, especially in the acute phase of care. However, it has had unintended consequences. Ever-increasing knowledge has resulted in the development of specialization or even super specialization. is super specialization has fragmented care and made a person a sum of many parts rather than one whole. is gap is most visible in managing diseases requiring long-term care in the community, especially a er the acute interventions are completed, in acute institutional settings like hospitals.
Chronic diseases and management are of great signi cance to the South Asian population as they represent a very high burden on the South Asian population. Self-management has an even more critical role, as lifestyle and cultural norms signicantly impact most chronic diseases. As we advance, more community and individual engagement will be required. Family and its role in care will require a better understanding of culture’s role. Understanding the role of diet, sleep, stress, and family will be integral to this care. I call it Integrative Medicine. is is an evolving area of medicine and provides an opportunity for education for all involved in care, including patients and providers. Some critical traditional knowledge-based interventions can be of help for better care. e concept of interaction of mind and intellect, along with physical care, is paramount. However, this must be done in collaboration with others. e continuum of care must be incorporated, and the patient should be fully engaged in chronic care self-management.
Yogic Science and Ayurvedic Medicine play
an essential role in the health of people from origin in India and can be an essential component of care. Both have been used for thousands of years, and incorporating them into the mainstream will support more robust individual engagement. is science emphasizes food, sleep, and stress and, above all, incorporates the role of the mind as a critical component. It strongly emphasizes the physical body, mind, and intellect as self-management components. In this context, the availability of community-based resources for education will be an essential tool in care. It is vital for the media, especially in incorporating powerful technology. Food must include holistic knowledge of what you eat and why, when, how, and how much you eat. Diabetes is an excellent example of this, and it is paramount. us, a simple understanding of added sugar and how it a ects the pathobiology of insulin can signi cantly impact ongoing care. Our behavior around the time of the day we eat, social eating, and mindful eating will be essential to better outcomes. For example, social eating can load the body with unnecessary energy and hinder the metabolism of food. Type 2 diabetes can be better managed, even delayed, or prevented through these lifestyle interventions.
A key component will also be interrelationships with pharmacological intervention and better integration with lifestyle intervention. In type 2 diabetes, there is much interest in the role of self-management and lifestyle interventions while reducing dependence on pharmacological interventions. ere is a need for ongoing education and individual participation in this.
To be successful, we need to have opportunities for dialog between all players, and this editorial is part of that dialog. is is even more important in a multicultural society with a diverse population.

Like any good banker, Ravi Kochhar knows that wise and timely investments go a long way. He is investing his time and commitment in the community to sow seeds of growth and kindness that will bear fruit for years.
Rby SURBHI GOGIA •
avi is a banker who understands the actual value of investing. Whether in nance or the community, Ravi believes that just as a wise investment in the bank yields future returns, investing time and heart in the community pays dividends that last a lifetime. With this mindset, despite his busy schedule as a Branch Manager, Ravi dedicates his time to initiatives that strengthen the community’s foundation. From tree-planting drives to collecting baby products for food banks, Ravi has nurtured these “saplings,” con dent that taking care of something at the beginning yields a healthy future. His philosophy is that a seed well-tended at the start will grow into something solid and lasting.
Born and raised in Punjab, Ravi holds a Bachelor's in Science degree and a Master’s in Biotechnology. His ability to organize various events and bring together a community at a very young age has also been re ected in his career growth. As one of his university’s earliest biotechnology students, Ravi organized seminars, establishing himself as a leader. His e orts eventually led him to become one of the youngest professors in his department before pursuing further education in London. ere, he completed his M.Sc in International Business before later setting his sights on an MBA at Vancouver Island University.
In 2012, he settled in Surrey with his wife and joined Finance industry, where he quickly became known for spearheading initiatives. He was leader and main force behind opening new locations for his organization Ravi also played a crucial role in organizing community events like Vaisakhi and Diwali celebrations and supporting his organization's tree-planting initiatives.
But Ravi’s urge to give back goes beyond his work responsibilities. “From day one, I’ve always felt the need to serve others, and that feeling runs deep,” he says, attributing his dedication to his upbringing and faith.
When asked why giving back is so essential to him, Ravi references his Sikh faith. Born in the holy city of Amritsar, he was raised with the teachings of the Sikh Gurus.
“Our Gurus taught us to give our tan, munn, and dhan to the community. Tan is our physical presence; mun is our sincere heart; and dhan means nancial contributions.”
Ravi explains the principle of Dasvandh, or giving 10 percent of one’s income to charity, and adds, “But money comes later—time and commitment come rst. And most important is timing. Serving and caring for something initially is crucial for a healthy future.”
Ravi’s faith-driven principles are especially evident in his work with the Surrey Food Bank. Spurred by his own experience as a father, he started a baby product drive.
“With two young kids, I know how costly baby formula and diapers can be. It struck me that if I nd these expenses challenging, it must be harder for

families with limited income. An adult can skip a meal, but a baby cannot. Babies are our community’s future; we must nourish them.”
His involvement doesn’t stop at collecting donations. Ravi has encouraged local business owners and even politicians to support food banks. He played a signi cant role in organizing the Surrey Food Bank’s annual food drive with Sher-e-Punjab Radio and visits the food bank regularly, o en with his young son by his side.
“I want my son to grow up seeing the importance of giving back,” he shares. He has also worked on various community events, such as organizing Vaisakhi and Diwali and participating in his organization lead tree-planting initiative. However, the urge to do more has pushed him to volunteer with various charity organizations beyond work since day one.
As someone who’s seen the impact of rising costs, Ravi feels strongly about addressing food insecurity, especially as Canada’s immigrant and refugee populations grow.
“In ation hasn’t spared anyone, and new immigrants feel the pinch even more,” he explains. With food banks, including Surrey Food Bank, struggling to keep up with demand, Ravi has mobilized South Asian community leaders and businesses to contribute, noting, “Our local farmers and grocery stores have been incredibly generous. But more needs to be done.”
rough his work and volunteer e orts, Ravi invests in what he values most—his community’s well-being and future. With every e ort, he sows seeds of growth and kindness that will bear fruit for years.

Sports are an area where kids want to participate to have fun and make friends, and build critical life skills such as discipline, patience, and teamwork.

thletics for Kids has been a registered Canadian charity in British Columbia since 2002. Its mission is to ensure that all kids in BC, regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds, have the opportunity to access sports and play.
“Our Sport4Life grant program is designed to be inclusive, allowing us to assess the family’s nancial need,” Valerie Gosselin, Executive Director of Athletics4Kids, explains. “Once we deem that a family quali es based on their net household income, we issue a grant to cover the child’s registration fees to the sports organization where the child is enrolled in a sporting program. We cover any sport you can think of. We cover over 55 di erent kinds of sports, from soccer to gymnastics to hockey, ensuring that every child has a chance to play and be part of our community.”
Athletics4Kids covers seasonal, year-round, team, and individual sports for school-aged kids aged ve to eighteen years old.
To date, Athletics4Kids has provided over 14,000 sports grants to kids in need since 2002.
“We issue up to $450 per child per year, and some kids may receive more than one grant throughout the year for year-round sports like gymnastics and martial arts to ensure that the child will participate all year long. e grants come from various sources: individual donors, corporate donors, community foundations, and fundraisers from events we host. We have a beautiful gala every May, our agship fundraiser and our biggest, the Sport4Life Gala. We have a golf tournament in Surrey in July, and a matching campaign at the end of the year that runs for two months (November and December). We also have third-party events organized and hosted on our behalf, such as the Fishing Derby with the District of North Vancouver Fire Fighters, in September. All of this support sustains our Sport4Life grant program which runs all over British Columbia. Last year, we worked within 67 communities in the province. We are mainly concentrated in the Lower Mainland, with Surrey being one of the highest funded areas due to relatively higher child poverty levels, and higher immigrant and refugee populations. “The Canadian economy is now smaller than in 2019 when adjusted for inflation and immigration. Canada has fallen from the 6th most productive economy in 1970 to the 18th as of 2022,” according to the World Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.”
Tby MAX SINGH •
here is no doubt that even though Canada consistently ranks amongst the most desirable places to live and has an enviable quality of life, Canada has a problem with economic growth. Rampant in ation, a runaway housing market, una ordability, and tenuous economic metrics have born this out.
e economic drive that rocket fuelled the country in the last few decades has worsened since the pandemic. Our economy is now smaller than in 2019 when adjusted for in ation and immigration. According to the World Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, Canada has fallen from the 6th most productive economy from 1970 to the 18th as of 2022. So, what are the critical reasons for Canada’s declining economic weakness?
• Dependence on the U.S. economy and energy prices
e Business Council of Canada articulates this view well and outlines the case in a recent report. Although the two-way energy trade of oil, natural gas, electricity, and uranium reached a record total 2023 of $156 billion (U.S.), according to the Business Council, Canada must not take this energy security partnership for granted. Potential severe disruptions loom, especially if Canada’s intentions to impose a cap on the emissions produced by its upstream oil and gas sector go forward as envisioned. With a new American President and administration set for 2025, the Canadian energy sector must brace itself for signi cant upheavals just in
case the U.S. implements taxes and tari s, as indicated by the Trump Administration. Look for higher tari s on Canadian exports to the U.S. and higher prices for U.S. imports that will a ect the economy.
• Loss of competitiveness in manufacturing and low labor productivity
e causes of the low productivity of Canadian companies are well documented. According to Canada’s Department of Finance, there is an urgent need to prevent further decline. A recent Royal Bank of Canada report reveals that Australian workers are almost 10% more productive than Canadians. Australia’s economy has grown 50% per person faster than Canada’s over the last 25 years. Canada is further behind the United States, 30% less productive than the U.S. in terms of working output.
Bank of Canada Senior Deputy Governor Carolyn Rogers said at a recent press conference that addressing the issue of low Canadian productivity is a fundamental issue, “Canada should focus more on ensuring the training and education we provide to teach the skills we need for jobs today and in the future and increase productivity.”

• Insu cient R&D Expenditure
Canada’s R&D (Research and Development) investment is low compared to other countries. Canada invests only 1.55% of its GDP(Gross Domestic Product.) in R&D, less than the World Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) average of 1.99%. Canada also has a low ratio of large rms to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) compared to the United States—making it challenging for Canadian rms to grow. Also, Canada’s complex taxation system, laws, and regulations make it di cult or a disincentive for new businesses to invest. Meanwhile, other countries that o er high salaries and lower living costs o en lure the best R&D talents. According to the Business Council of Canada, what is needed is a more structured, attractive, tangible way to attract and retain the best R & D talent with more funding and investing tax breaks for companies.
• High household debt and deteriorating housing a ordability
Household debt in Canada is now the highest of any G7 country, according to data supplied by the CHMC (Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation), Canada’s national housing agency. e amount Canadian households owe is also higher than the country’s entire GDP. e CHMC says high home prices are to blame for the ballooning debt. Also highly high is Canadians’ appetite for credit card debt, personal loans, and other household debt. In contrast, household debt has shrunk in the U.S. and the UK in the last 10 years.
“Household debt in Canada is now the highest of any G7 country, according to data by the CHMC (Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation). This makes the economy vulnerable to any economic crisis, especially regarding housing.”

“Unfortunately, Canada’s elevated levels of household debt—the highest in the G7—makes the economy vulnerable to any global economic crisis,” said Aled Ab Iorwerth, the agency’s deputy chief economist. Mr Ab Iorwerth said that 75% of Canada’s household debt comes from mortgages. In Canada, home prices are the highest in Vancouver, British Columbia. e average price for a property is around $1.29m. Toronto and Vancouver consistently rank among the world’s top 10 una ordable cities. ere are many roots in the housing a ordability crisis. e key reasons are simple: supply and demand mean fewer houses not being built fast enough for a growing population that has been accelerating due to Canada’s immigration programs. An important factor is the lack of skilled construction workers, increasing red tape around permits and planning applications, and the rise of material costs and interest rates. Also necessary is the commodi cation of houses as assets to be held onto and hoarded by investors rather than released into the housing market. is forced
scarcity has accelerated house prices and rental rates in Canadian history.
Canada is not unique in its economic problems; many developed countries have similar issues exacerbated by the a ermath of the global pandemic, supply chain woes, regional wars, and the shi in politics to the right across the world. However, the key takeaways remain: Canada must nd new strategies to increase worker productivity and competition and invest in training skilled workers. ere is also a need for more research and development, improving incentives, and a review of energy policy and our economic relationship with the U.S. Economists also say that reducing barriers to trade and investment internally and externally will also help the economy.

New 2024 International student rules and changes for CanadaQuick facts
• International students who are eligible to work off campus may work full-time during breaks in their academic calendar, such as the summer break between school years or the winter break between semesters.
• To work off campus without a work permit, international students must be studying full-time in a post-secondary academic, vocational, or professional training program, or a vocational training program at the secondary level offered in Quebec, that lasts at least six months and leads to a degree, diploma or certificate.
• Twice a year, designated learning institutions are expected to submit a report to IRCC that indicates whether each study permit holder associated with their school has remained enrolled. Students who are no longer enrolled can be investigated and face enforcement action, as they may be breaking their study permit conditions.
• Designated learning institutions in Quebec have not, to date, participated in student compliance reporting. It will take Quebec and IRCC some time to set up this reporting system for Quebec DLIs. As such, Quebec DLIs have a grace period before they are required to comply with the compliance reporting requirement.

However, there has been an explosion in the number of International students; in 2023, more than 900,000 international students had visas to study in Canada — more than triple the number from 10 years ago. e vast majority of international students are from India, with an estimate of over a million Indian students having received study permits for Canada since 2015, including more than 100,000 having done so in 2024.
According to Canadian government statistics, International student enrollment exceeded the one million mark in Canada at all levels of study at the end of 2023 – a 29% increase from the previous year.
As of November 15th, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada introduced new rules a ecting International students, which have signi cant repercussions for those currently in Canada. e rules come as the housing shortage, una ordability bite, and the allegations that many private colleges and educational institutions are mere “Diploma Mill” fake colleges taking advantage of desperate

students, greedy landlords, and bad-faith employers.
Canada Immigration Minister Marc Miller recently said, “Canada’s International Student Program must be sustainable, and students need protection from abuse within the system. Over the past year, IRCC has taken signi cant steps to ensure its sustainability by rooting out fraud and protecting students from bad actors and nancial vulnerability.”
e government said international student study permits will be reduced by 10 percent from the 2024 target of 485,000. at will mean 437,000 permits issued next year, with that exact target continuing into 2026.
Miller said, “As announced in our 2025–2027 Immigration Levels Plan, Canada’s temporary resident population will decrease over the next few years to align with our long¬-term economic goals and strengthen the integrity and quality of our temporary resident programs.”
Miller stated in September 2024, “It’s the government’s latest immigration-related measure to address Canadians’ ongoing housing and a ordability
concerns. e international student cap is here to stay.”
e new rules have already taken e ect. In November 2024, signi cant changes in the number of hours international students may work o campus. With this change, eligible students can now only work up to 24 hours per week o campus while their classes are in session.
Miller said that moving forward, international students must apply for and get approval for a new study permit before changing learning institutions. is change aligns with our critical work to strengthen the integrity of the International Student Program. Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) protect the student program against misuse.
ere will now be consequences for DLIs if they fail to submit compliance reports or verify acceptance letters. With this change, the DLI could face suspension from welcoming new international students for up to a year for failing to provide the required information.
Miller said, “By limiting o -campus work to 24 hours per week, we’re striking the right balance between providing work opportunities and helping students stay focused on their education.”
e only positive news for international students is that the new rules caps do not apply to students undertaking master’s and doctoral programs, and the federal

and provincial governments will likely continue to target those graduates as “ideal” immigrants. Miller also said a path to wads permanent residency for international students was not a guarantee even if they go on to secure work permits.
International students in Canada
have deep concerns. For students already here, there are worries not only about the recent changes in rules but also about changes that might happen in the next few years. Will the government reduce the number of years an international student can stay in Canada a er graduation? Will work permit holders have a more challenging time applying for permanent residency? How will existing students survive and pay their tuition as the a ordability crisis continues in Canada? Some students worry parents and families back home will have to make further nancial sacri ces to help them survive in an expensive country. Meanwhile, more stories are surfacing of international students living in substandard housing and relying on food banks, turning to drugs, and even committing suicide.

Sarom Rho from the Migrant Workers Alliance for Change in Ontario says the root cause of the problem is that international students are not a orded the same rights and protections as permanent residents. For example, international students need more than public health care in most provinces. “What this does is add an incredible amount of pressure and stress and sense of exclusion,” Rho said. “ e stress is

tangible for international students and their families. A report by CareEdge Ratings, India’s credit rating agency, reveals that education loans disbursed by Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) for students to pursue studies in Canada grew almost ve-fold in three years, from ₹1,426 crore in March 2021 to ₹5,183 crore in June 2023. is stresses Indian families sending their children to study abroad and reciprocally pressures students to succeed under incredible pressure.”
What is happening in Canada now is similar to what unfolded in Australia. ere, international student enrollments ballooned in speci c vocational programs, distorting the labor market and producing “not-so-ideal” immigrants in the Australian government’s eyes. Indian International students became targets of abuse, and Australia faced diplomatic and reputational consequences. e same kind of abuse aimed at international students is also increasing in Canada, much of it
directed towards Indian students on social media.
e most signi cant point made by many international students and those who hope for a path to Canadian permanent residence by merit, studying diligently, gaining Canadian quali cations, and working hard is that they are not just numbers or exploitable cheap labor and nancial units for universities, colleges, and landlords. ey are young people taking signi cant risks at the start of their adult lives. Like any student, they try to plan their futures while navigating a complex, inequitable world. ey are far from home, facing adult challenges, such as holding down jobs and studying. ey hope that, in time, the immigration system stabilizes to a point where they become valuable assets to Canadian culture, society, and the economy.
Canada needs to do a better job of ensuring international student opportunities are commensurate with their studies.

We run from dusk to dawn; the Earth fuels everything we need for a good life. We are digging the ground and exploring deeper to collect water, gas, oil, coal, or even gold! But what about earth, her health? What are we o ering her in return for so many favors?

In a world where sustainability is becoming increasingly critical, conserving energy, water, and other natural resources is highly recommended. By adopting earth-friendly practices, we can signi cantly impact the environment to ensure a better future for this blue planet and future generations.
WHY IT IS ESSENTIAL TO CONSERVE ENERGY, WATER, AND OTHER NATURAL RESOURCES
e world population is exploding, putting immense pressure on natural resources. We need to act now! We are on the way to devastating water scarcity and other natural resources. Conserving energy, water, and other natural resources is imperative because they are essential to life on earth. Energy is necessary for powering homes and businesses, while water and other natural resources provide raw materials for everyday needs. Without them, we couldn’t heat and cool our homes, cook food, or keep ourselves clean.
In today’s world, conserving natural resources is increasingly a priority. Fortunately, plenty of easy and earth-friendly ways exist to preserve energy, water, and other natural resources. Let us gure out the way.

Natural resources are divided into renewable and nonrenewable. Renewable sources, like hydropower, biomass, and solar energy, are undiminishable. Water, natural gas, fossil fuels, nuclear power, and minerals are nonrenewable sources. It will not be enough to ful ll the increasing demands, even if they can be replenished.
Recycling is an easy and e ective way to minimize carbon footprint. ere are many things to recycle, like cans, glass, cartons, and paper products. Place the recycling bin beside the trash can to distinguish recyclable items from non-recyclable ones.
TURN OFF THE TAP AND SWITCH OFF THE LIGHT BULB WHEN NOT IN USE
Remember to turn o the tap when brushing your teeth or washing some-
thing. Always remember that every drop of water counts. Do not let the water run when you are not using it. A simple practice of caution can save buckets of water from being put to waste. e same applies to your house’s bulb lights and fans. Choose eco-friendly packaging As a conscious customer, choose eco-friendly packaging. Try not to buy Styrofoam or plastic products. It will also encourage brands to switch to sustainable packaging.
It takes hundreds of buckets of water to manufacture a cotton t-shirt. In the era of fast fashion, that puts natural resources at

tremendous risk. Say no to fast fashion and consider thri shopping. It will increase your attire’s life cycle while decreasing overproduction.
Oils and natural oils power electronic appliances like TVs, computers, and lights. However, these energy sources are not renewable, releasing greenhouse gases. Although they are the preferred option for convenience and accessibility, try alternative sources. For example, install solar panels on your home to reduce dependence on traditional energy sources.
A plant-based diet with less meat will keep you and the planet healthy. e livestock industry produces tons of harmful greenhouse gases. So, lowering meat consumption will reduce your carbon footprint.
Moreover, according to the National Geographic Society, “A day’s worth of food requires 2,000 to 5,000 liters of water to produce.” Producing meat-based food requires more water than producing plant-based food. Your choice could signi cantly contribute to conserving the environment.
Minimalism’s motto is ‘less is more.’ It
encourages conscious decisions and buying only what you need. Since overconsumption is o en the reason for exploiting natural resources, minimalism will signi cantly help you conserve natural resources.
By lowering our thermostat by just a few degrees, we can signi cantly reduce the energy used by our HVAC system. For that to happen, we must have proper insulation in our homes.
RAISING AWARENESS WILL ALSO FACILITATE CONSERVATION.
Each of the actions above is a personal activity. But if we want to create a more signi cant impact, there are many ways to do that.
For example, we can create a club with friends or neighbors who share our views to promote organic farming, agroforestry, and natural insect and pest management. ese earth-friendly ways will enable us to conserve natural resources at both personal and community levels.
We can all conserve energy, water, and other natural resources by implementing these earth-friendly practices. Small changes in our daily lives can signi cantly bene t the environment and create a sustainable future for our planet. Let’s embrace these actions and inspire others to join us in preserving our world for future generations.

How do you usually pass your time when standing in a queue? What about when you board a train or a ight? Or when you have to wait for your Uber or friend?
In today’s digital world, screens have become essential gadgets. Work, business, shopping, cooking, ordering gi s for events, and meeting online all require screen time. Everything is so tech-based that even reading a simple book has largely been replaced by reading or listening to audiobooks. However, as our screen time increases, concerns about its impact on mental health also grow. e primary psychological e ects of excessive screen time risks are categorized as A, B, C, and D:
A - Anxiety and depression
B - Blurry vision and burnout
C - Concentration issues
D - Disruptive sleep patterns
INCREASED RISK OF ANXIETY AND DERESSION
Research over the years shows that excessive screen time, especially on social media, can lead to increased levels of anxiety. High social media usage is linked to higher rates of depressive symptoms and anxiety. How does this occur?

It is easy to see that it o ers a wealth of educational content. However, constantly comparing oneself to idealized images and lifestyles presented online can intensify feelings of inadequacy and loneliness. Furthermore, this has evolved into a form of digital connection, accompanied by a relentless need to project a speci c image. It signi cantly a ects the mind's pursuit of validation through likes, comments, subscriptions, and followers.

Excessive screen use, especially before bedtime, can signi cantly a ect sleep patterns. How o en do you check your phone for news updates just before going to bed? Additionally, is nighttime the only time women have for themselves, which they prefer to spend on online shopping or scrolling through social media? A common feature on social media today is going live with your audience to keep them engaged. is emphasizes social content, but what about workaholics who prefer to work late at night and early in the morning? Excessive screen time may disrupt sleep regulation, leading to di culties falling asleep and lower sleep quality.

Constant exposure to screens, particularly for activities like gaming or browsing social media, can a ect your mind. Gone are the days when children used to play in parks all the time. Laptops, computer screens, palmtops, video games, and tablets have taken over much of running around and playing outdoor games. Studies show that frequent screen use can decrease attention spans and cause di culties with concentration. An excellent way to address this is to ensure that you take breaks if you must be on the screen for long periods, especially when making assignments or completing tasks.

Do you remember the time when COVID-19 hit the world? No one was prepared to isolate, but everyone was asked to stay where they were. People could not meet their families and friends for months. Today, screens have replaced these meetings, and everything has become so digital that it has created a kind of loneliness and isolation in the world, referred to as digitalization.

On the one hand, you can speak to your friends and family across borders or in di erent parts of the world. Still, many people now only communicate with family on social media and via text, even though they live nearby. Although screens can facilitate online social interactions, excessive use can reduce face-to-face interactions.
What kind of pictures do you love posting on your social media? Fun- lled events, weddings, celebrations, holidays, vacations, parties, and gatherings are popular choices. Everyone wants to showcase the happiest or fanciest side of themselves, dressed in their nest out ts. Social media platforms o en display curated highlights of people’s lives, which can create unrealistic expectations and negative self-comparisons. is phenomenon can signi cantly a ect self-esteem, especially among adolescents more susceptible to peer in uence and societal standards. On the other hand, some individuals feel constant pressure to maintain their self-worth and self-image. erefore, it is essential to remember that everything on screen is o en unrealistic.

2. Healthy Sleep Habits
3. Start Real-Life Social Interactions
4. Mindful Screen Use

As winter 2024 unfolds, the fashion scene unveils some of its nest designs and looks. Year a er year, silhouettes and cuts have evolved along with fabrics and patterns. So, a crucial question arises: Should we shop for winter wear every year? Can we use something other than what we already have from previous years? DOES THE CONCEPT OF SUSTAINABILITY NOT APPLY TO WINTER FASHION TRENDS?
Well, Well, Well!
You can wear clothes from previous years, and you only need to shop for something from scratch if you wish to. Being fashionable and stylish is all about creating quirky looks and reusing and restyling what you already possess. 2024 is all about being bold but understated. Winter Fashion is a canvas of innovation, creativity, and luxurious sophistication this year. So, let’s dive deep to create some looks that stand out and elevate your wardrobe this season.
Layering has been a winter thing for some and a need for others. ere is speci c art in layering, blending chic styles, and coordinating colors with comfort. Opt for turtlenecks paired with tailored blazers, exquisite long coats, or even jackets on thin sweaters. ese create an e ortlessly stylish silhouette. Add lightweight, breathable fabrics beneath heavier outerwear to maintain warmth while adding a fashionable edge.
What are statement pieces?
Like statement jewelry, statement pieces are bolder in their overall outlook and impact. ey could be a combination of size, color, prints, and fabric texture. ink of voluminous jackets in vibrant hues and structured trench coats with unique cuts. Imagine yourself in bold prints with a turtleneck underneath or a long trench coat with your boots visible beneath. ese pieces add style and panache to your overall look.
e winter of 2024 breaks away from the conventional dark palette, embracing an extravagant mix of bold colors and playful prints. Rich, bold red and purple with shades of royal blue and bottle green can be your palette. It’s essential to mute colors and prints depending on the occasion. is can be done with simple techniques, like wearing a scarf in the shade of brown or black or wearing a jacket for a formal event.

In today’s world, sustainable fashion has become the hallmark of modern luxury, with eco-friendly materials like recycled fabrics and organic cotton. On one hand, customers have become more aware of and caring for the environment. On the other hand, brands are prioritizing timeless pieces that promote a circular economy. is eventually allows consumers to buy stylish, cost-e ective options without compromising quality. It has become a win-win situation on both ends.

Footwear plays a vital role in your overall look. Winter leans towards the fashionable yet practical, chunky boots featuring thick soles that combine comfort and air. While the options for boots remain the same, like ankle boots and knee-high styles, one must focus on unity in dealing with exuding sophistication. Also, contrasting colors could be a great option. ACCESSORIES WITH IMPACT

Stockings are clothing that keeps going in and out of fashion. Still, they have evolved year a er year with various patterns, self-printed designs, and thicknesses. In olden times, people wore stockings only to cover the skin. Still, it is not the case today; these days, woolen stockings give you so much more warmth and add that on factor to your overall look, especially if you wear a knee length, a short skirt, or a pair of shorts with boots. Textured stockings with lace or ribbed patterns could add an exquisite touch to winter ensembles.

When your out t is about making a style statement, how can you forget to accessorize it with statement pieces? Oversized scarves, bold gloves, and quirky beanies enhance out ts with air. You could also create your designs and styles with chunky jewelry, layered chains, and striking rings, remembering your fancy sunglasses to add that glam element to your overall look.

e in uence of past decades is evident in each year’s fashion trends. e only di erence is that certain styles are revived every year, like the vintage look of the 90s jacket or the mu ers. is year is all about wearing oversized vintage-inspired pieces or trench coats. Mixing these nostalgic elements with contemporary staples allows for a unique and authentic personal style. Since we live in an era of comfort, every style encompasses a relaxed look.
While these are just some tips for ne-tuning your overall look, remember to go out and create your style.

Today, the whole world stands as a single marketplace. Gone are the days when it was di cult or impossible to procure a speci c out t, curated home decor item, or even a delicacy from a foreign nation. With innovation and science coming into play, all of this is possible in no time. From enjoying a French pastry by your window to wearing a dress from Paris, it can be just a click away. Cultural diversity plays a pivotal role in shaping fashion trends, transforming the industry into a vibrant tapestry of in uences. As globalization continues to blur geographical boundaries, the fusion of cultural elements has led to innovative designs and fresh perspectives.

by
Simply, it’s about embracing various cultures to meet everyone’s needs. It involves being open to and accepting change in fashion and lifestyle, ensuring everyone ts in comfortably. Brands must now explore diverse options to satisfy individual preferences. Additionally, people’s outlooks have broadened, encouraging experimentation with di erent styles and details.
Fashion is no longer limited to a single style. It has evolved into a space where people enjoy exploring, staying comfortable, looking unique, and creating solid impressions through clothing.
Cultural diversity brings a wealth of aesthetic inspiration to the fashion industry. Designers worldwide constantly look beyond their cultural roots, integrating motifs, textiles, and cra smanship from various traditions. For instance, using traditional Indian prints or African animal prints or innovating with
French-inspired crochet-style fabric to create fancy clothing pieces are just a few of the planned aesthetically outstanding collaborations.

It is strange to notice that most of us adorn fabrics and cra smanship from some of the nest brands and countries, not knowing anything about its origin. e most beautiful part of globalization is that it is able to provide wings to ancient cra smanship. For example, only a few of us would know that the art of quilting and knitting was seen and noticed in Egyptian times. Every other nation has customized this ne-tuned art in its own way to meet its needs. Even today and in remote parts of India, people create handstitched and handmade fabrics. Not only that, some of the most prominent designers across the globe visit to get handcra ed wedding out ts.

One positive aspect of globalization is that people are more aware and conscious of their choices. ey do not want to indulge in choices that harm the environment, so brands have developed sustainable fashion lines that can be worn and refurbished. As the fashion industry increasingly focuses on eco-friendliness, these practices are gaining recognition. Brands that incorporate sustainable practices rooted in diverse cultures appeal to environmentally conscious consumers and honor the heritage of these cra s.

When discussing globalization and diversity and its impact on fashion, how can we forget one of the most essential mediums, technology and Social Media? e rise of social media has accelerated the spread of diverse fashion trends. Information entrance can reach any demographic at any given point in time. Platforms allow rapid sharing of styles and cultural in uences and assist in sharing views and opinions for comprehensive fashion research. Also, let’s not forget the In uencers from diverse backgrounds who have become powerful voices, shaping trends and encouraging cultural appreciation.

While cultural diversity enriches fashion, it has its challenges. e idea of cultural appropriation is a very simplistic but complex concept. Many symbols and motors can be used in certain countries and may need to be revised for certain countries. Also, since globalization involves multiple cultures, religions, and societal practices, designers and brands must consider these before putting out a collection. Apart from these, there are additional copyright issues that also need to be taken into consideration. e line between appreciation and appropriation can be thin, leading to discussions that can have a negative impact. Brands must navigate these challenges thoughtfully. Cultural diversity has a profound impact on fashion trends. As the industry continues to evolve, designers and brands must embrace diversity. In the long run, this will be the foundation for many upcoming lifestyle labels.

ontrary to what you might think, the Lamborghini Urus, the Porsche Cayenne, or the multitude of Land Rovers and Range Rovers are not among the most desirable luxury SUVs. at honor belongs to the Geländewagen (G-Wagen) or, o cially, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. It is that boxy, quasi-military-looking, square-shaped SUV that you occasionally see with its deep V8 rumble. And yes, they are as expensive as they look.
For 2026, the latest versions of the G-Class retain much of the tank-like looks they have had for generations, although they are now a tad more streamlined and
re ned. Key improvements are more fuel e ciency, a choice of engines and trims, more power, ride comfort, and never-ending personalization and customization options.
e new models are available in V8, Six-cylinder hybrid, and even Electric versions. Exterior-wise, the classic front grille, bumper, and A-pillars have all been revamped slightly, and there is even a subtle spoiler on the roof for better aerodynamics. e most signi cant change is in the engine department, where a modern tech-heavy turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine with a 48-volt hybrid system is available. Horsepower is

up—to 443—with torque a little less at Peak 413 lb- . Maximum power for the existing 4.0L V8 engine has been increased to 5777 hp and 637 lb- .
e high-performance G 63 version will feature new engine technology in 2025, enhancing its speed. Additionally, there will be an all-electric version of the G, the Mercedes-Benz G 580. is model is not currently available in Canada and will have limited availability in 2025.
Interior updates include Mercedes’ excellent enhanced MBUX infotainment in the entry G550 model. e so ware has been updated, there is more connectivity, keyless entry, and an optional rear-seat entertainment system with two 11.6-inch displays that can stream video or browse the web. e cabin is roomy and seats four, and the build and equipment levels are very high. Meanwhile, a new 360-degree camera system can show the driver the underside and in-front view of the terrain when o -roading. A new adaptive cruise control system with a lane-centering feature is also available.
In terms of pricing, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class model comes in 3 trim levels ranging from $189,000 (G-550) to $249,000. e most expensive in the lineup, Mercedes-AMG G 63, is $249,000. e performance G 63 version has a four-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with a

48-volt hybrid system linked to a nine-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard on all models. Of course, AMG versions and incredible factory customization services are available to make your G-Class as individual as possible with super expensive price tags to match.
So why is the G-Class so expensive? Well, it is almost exclusively hand-built to exacting standards. Also, the MercedesBenz Manufaktur customization process means the G-Class can be custom-built, painted, and tted with options, luxury equipment, and extras to any speci cation. ere are 2,000 optional paint colors, plus countless materials choices for the interior trim. More serious o -roaders can opt for the Professional models, which have bespoke wheels and tires, an adaptive suspension system, and specialized o -road equipment. It’s all costly!
One of the G class’s signi cant attributes is its world-class o -road ability, which is on par with anything from Land Rover or Jeep. e G Class has three locking di erentials, a water-wading fording depth of over 700 mm, and short overhangs. It can traverse up to 35 degrees on a side slope laterally. e G 63 also has an o -road stabilization system for more suspension articulation over extreme terrain and a new brake torque system for independently controlled wheel speeds.
It is clear that the G-Class dances to its own tune and remains unique as the ultimate Luxury O -Roader. It is more commonly seen outside nightclubs than in the rough terrain for which it was initially designed. And within lies its charms, which are super expensive, making it out of reach for most of us—sadly! e 2025 Mercedes-Benz G Class is priced from $189,000 to $249,000.
