SEEN & HEARD IN ROANE COUNTY
By O.I. Seenya • A 26 year old had a bicycle wreck and called 911 for an ambulance because he couldn’t move his toe. Wonder if he called a “toe” truck, too? • Kudos to the City of Kingston for clearing off their property across from Food City to enable us to see the beautiful scenery the lake provides everyone who passes through there. • One of the owners of The Roane Reader driving off from a convenient store with the gas pump nozzle still attached to her truck and being stretched as far as it could go before a man yelled at her to stop. Luckily, it unattached itself and fell on the pavement in the parking lot.
The wife & the biker
A husband was in the garage polishing his Harley. His new wife came in and said, "Don't you think it's time to sell the bike and get something more practical?" The newly married husband said, "For a minute there, you sounded like my ex-wife." "I didn't know you had been married before," said the wife. "I haven't," said the biker.

Precious Memories By: Kay Christopher
The Family Drive-In Old timers from Emory Gap will remember The Family Drive-in that was located where McDonald’s is now. The back of the huge screen was right next to Highway 27 and the projector room was just right of the building that presently houses McDonalds. When Mama was in the hospital in Knoxville with TB, daddy took good care of us six kids, which consisted of entertaining us. I remember him taking us to the drive-in. I don’t ever remember what movies we watched, but I remember going there. My brothers and cousins used to walk over the “new” TVA railroad bridge that crosses the highway next to Ruby Tuesdays and sit on the tracks and watch the movies. They could see the screen perfectly, but they couldn’t hear what the actors were saying because the old speakers that attached to your side windows were the only way you could hear. When the interstate came through, most of the Emory Gap businesses closed down. They just couldn’t compete with the grab and go eating establishments that swamped Emory Gap when the new volume of traffic tremendously increased. The drive-in closed down and laid abandoned for years. The old projection room and speaker poles were the only things left. It was prime property, and a rich investor made a lot of money off the land that held so many of our precious memories.
Useless information The French for ‘paperclip’ is trombone. The Icelandic phone book is ordered by first name. Jimmy Carter once sent a jacket to the dry-cleaner’s with the nuclear detonation codes still in the pocket. The Vatican City has the highest crime rate in the world. Though the resident population is only just over 800, more than 600 crimes are committed there each year. Two-and-a-half million Mills & Boon novels were pulped and added to the tarmac of the M6 toll motorway to make it more absorbent. Strange: Selling second-hand underwear is banned in Ghana and giving a snake antacids will make them explode due to their acidic stomachs It costs more to make the cardboard box that Shredded Wheat comes in than it does to make the cereal itself. The American secret service tried to spike Hitler’s carrots with female hormones to change him into a woman. Ants can survive in a microwave: they are small enough to dodge the rays. In 17th Century Venice, women’s shoes could have heels more than 12in high. Bugs Bunny is not a rabbit, but a hare The sun’s core is so hot that a piece of it the size of a pinhead would give off enough heat to kill a person 99 miles away. In 1987, American Airlines saved $40,000 by removing an olive from each salad in First Class. One hundred thousand mobile phones are dropped down the lavatory in Britain every year, and 50,000 get run over. People all over the world are walking ten per cent faster than they did a decade ago. Until 1857, it was legal for British husbands to sell their wives. The going rate was £3,000 (£223,000 in today’s money).

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and Since this is the month of October, we are remembering the famous movie he was hungry. Best Times for Fishing One hour before and one hour after high tides, and one hour before and one hour after low tides. Inland, the times for high tides correspond with the times when the Moon is due south. Low tides are halfway between high tides. During the "morning rise" (after sunup for a spell) and the "evening rise" (just before sundown and the hour or so after). When the barometer is steady or on the rise. (But even during stormy periods, the fish aren't going to give up feeding. The smart fisherman will find just the right bait.) When there is a hatch of flies—caddis flies or mayflies, commonly. (The fisherman will have to match his fly with the hatching flies or go fishless.) When the breeze is from a westerly quarter rather than from the north or east.

How To Clean and Season Old, Rusty Cast Iron Skillets
What You Need The end chunk of a potato (enough to be able to hold firmly) Course salt A rusty cast iron skillet A little vegetable oil (canola or olive will do) 1. Set your cast iron skillet in the sink and sprinkle a teaspoon or two of Kosher salt in the bottom. 2. Slice off the top of a raw potato. Make sure to leave enough of the potato so you can grab it easily. Use the cut end of your potato to scour the skillet, grinding the salt into any rusty or crusty spots. As you work, rinse off the skillet (and rust!) and add more salt if it requires more scrubbing. 3. Once all of the rust has vanished (Yay!), dry your skillet with a clean towel. 4. If you don’t need to re-season your skillet, just add a few drops of oil to its surface. You can be a tad heavy handed with the oil, as it will mostly just absorb. Rub the oil into your skillet’s surface, that way it’s ready to go for you next cooking adventure. Caring for your skillet Never, ever, ever wash your skillet with soap again. Don’t even let a drop near it. The soap will wear off your fresh coating of oil and it will likely make your next meal taste a tad sudsy. After you finish cooking with your skillet, immediately rinse it out to remove any burned on bits. If you need more scrubbing, let it cool, and then use salt and a coarse scrubbing pad to get rid of any burned bits. Don’t let your skillet soak for long periods of time, and never put it in the dishwasher.
Old Remedies For Cold and Flu Prevention
If you're trying hard to avoid colds and the flu, here are some When the water is still or prevention strategies to keep you healthy—short of moving to the rippled, rather than during a North Pole where germs cannot survive! wind. Keep current on inoculations, and ask your doctor about flu shots. Wash your hands often, with lots of soap and lots of water! Don't share washcloths or towels. Use disposable towels instead of cloth handkerchiefs. If you’re in a public restroom, shut the faucet off with a paper towel and try to push the door open with your shoulder or use the paper towel to turn the knob. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you sneeze or cough. If you don't have a tissue, cough into your upper sleeve. Colds are only caught from other people; during cold season, don't shake hands or touch surfaces and then bring your fingers to your nose or face. Don't bite your nails; it spreads germs. Don't share food or drinks, even a taste. When in doubt, hug instead of kiss, even if your heart feels otherwise! Drink plenty of liquids, especially fresh pure water. Get plenty of sleep. Go to bed early! Cut back on sugars and alcoholic drinks. Eat correctly, especially lots of fruits with high vitamin C content as well as veggies and grains which cleanse your system. If you can, take it easy as soon as symptoms develop. Stay at home if you are sick.
Question:
Does the sun always shines at noon?
Answer:
On an overcast day the sun will often break through the clouds close to midday. A ring around the moon is a prediction of rain or snow to come.
And here’s some old-fashioned advice from our 1852 Almanac! "To avoid fall fevers, eat moderately, drink sparingly, lie not down on the damp earth, nor overheat yourself; but keep your temper, and change your clothes as the weather changes."

WATER VS Coke
1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. 2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. 3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as much as 30%. 4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study. 5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. 6. Research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. 7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. 8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. And now for the properties of COKE 1. In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident. 2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days. 3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coke into the toilet bowl and let the “real thing” sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china. 4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled piece of aluminum foil dipped in Coke. 5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coke over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion. 6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coke to the rusted bolt for several minutes. 7. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coke will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

Happy Birthday To:
A little mud tracked in, some grass stains on your knees, your hand prints on the walls and windows. Well worn memories, some pictures you drew way back when you were small, the marks that measured years and growth spurts climbing up the wall. Every since that tiny foot print you two made your mark on our family in so many ways. The love you showed us, the memories you left, we think of every day. We thank God for letting us keep you as long as He did. The tips of the branches I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and after he had just finished a rough first day on the job: a flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric drill quit and his ancient one ton truck refused to start. While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands. When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation. His face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss. Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier. 'Oh, that's my trouble tree,' he replied 'I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, those troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children.. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask God to take care of them. Then in the morning I pick them up again.' 'Funny thing is,' he smiled,' when I come out in the morning to pick 'em up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.

Give your best to relationships
A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl agreed. The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised.
That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn’t sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble. Moral of the story: If you don’t give your hundred percent in a relationship, you’ll I said, "God, I hurt." And God said, "I know." I said, "God, I cry a lot." God said, "That is why I gave you tears." always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her I said, "God, I am so depressed." And God said, hundred percent.. "That is why I gave you Sunshine." I said, "God, life is so hard." And God said, "That is why I gave you loved ones." I said, "God, my loved one died." And God said, "So did mine." I said, "God, it’s such a loss." God: "I saw mine nailed to a cross." I said, "God, but your loved one lives." God said, "So does yours." I said, "God, where are they now?" And God said, "Mine is on My right and yours is in the Light." I said, "God, it hurts." And God said, "I know."

Repent and Believe, Mark 1:12-15
A Sunday School teacher, said to her children, 'We have been learning about how powerful the kings and queens were in Biblical times. But there is a higher power. Who can tell me what it is?' George blurted out, 'I know, Aces.'
Satan pushed Jesus to the desert where he had to pray in order to resist his temptations. He prayed for forty days. He kept saying “No.” Then he came back into town and told everyone to repent and believe. When you find that you are tempted by evil, take 40 seconds, 40 minutes, or 40 hours to pray that God will help you. He will send the angels to take care of you. He will make you strong. If you couldn’t resist the temptations and said “Yes” to evil, then repent and believe that God will forgive you and give you the strength to stop. Repent and Believe, Mark 1:12-15 When you hurt others, say "I'm sorry. Will you forgive me?" When you repent and ask for forgiveness, it is awesome. When you receive forgiveness, it covers you and fills you with peace and love. This feeling of peace and love makes it easier to forgive others when they hurt you. The sooner you forgive yourself and others, the quicker you will be able to think clearly and be at peace again. O J G O S P E L D E T P M E T C C F A X

The three preachers
Bible Quest
These three preachers were fishing. A baptist,a methodist, and a presbyterian. They decided to confess their faults to one another. The baptist said "wee, my only fault is I like the drink... yep, I hit the bottle quite often." The methodist confessed ''well my shortcoming is that I do chase the women, but that's my only fault." And finally the presbyterian spoke out gleefully 'my fault and I know it is that I tell everything I know. And I can't wait to get back to town to tell about what I just heard from y'all...

A man who sang in the choir each week was embarrassed by his dad falling asleep during the sermon. So he decided to come up with a plan to keep him awake. He told his son to sit by "gramps" and keep him awake by giving him a little prod each time he started to nod off and he would give him a dollar. Well, "gramps" started into his nap again right on schedule and the little boy just sat there. After the sermon, his dad came down from the choir loft and asked him why he didn't wake up "gramps" when he fell asleep. "That's easy!", said his son, "gramps pays better!" as he pulled out a five dollar bill !

Freedom by a Soldier For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives that protester the freedom to abuse and burn that flag. - Zell Miller - Georgia 2004

Household Hints 1) Toothpaste: Buff a CD/DVD Apply toothpaste to a cotton ball and wipe the disc. Wash with water afterwards and you’ve got a brand new disc! 2) Cornstarch: Untangle Knots Sprinkling cornstarch into tough knots, such as shoe laces helps loosen them. 3) Walnut: Buff Dings out of Wood Furniture Get rid of unsightly scratches and dings on wood furniture by rubbing a walnut on the areas. The blemishes will vanish quickly and your furniture and pocket book will be saved. 4) Club Soda: Make Your Breads Fluffier When baking, where recipes call for water, add club soda instead to make pancakes, waffles and any other breads fluffier. 5) Salt: Keep Windows Frost Free Pour a cup of salt into a liter of water. Sponge the liquid onto the inside of window to prevent frost from forming during the winter months. 6) Rubbing Alcohol: Remove Permanent Marker Dab the surface that has the permanent marker on it with a cloth or cotton ball covered in rubbing alcohol to make it disappear quickly. 7) Chap stick: Stops Bleeding When Nicked Shaving Cut yourself shaving? Just swipe some chap stick over the cut to stop that constant bleeding. No more tissue squares! Apple Juice: Removes Dandruff Don’t ask how it works, but it does! Instead of buying a special shampoo, just wash your hair in apple juice to rid your scalp of pesky dandruff. 9) Aspirin: Get Rid of Armpit Stains on T-Shirts Grind up an aspirin tablet or two, then make a paste out of it using water, lemon or vinegar. Spread the paste on the stained area and let sit for an hour before washing. 10) Olive Oil: Make Pets’ Coat Shinier Add a bit of olive oil to your pet’s food to give them a healthier, shinier coat of fur.

When life gives you lemons
Freshen the Fridge 1. Remove refrigerator odors with ease. Dab lemon juice on a cotton ball or sponge and leave it in the fridge for several hours. Make sure to toss out any malodorous items that might be causing the bad smell. 2. High Blood Pressure Lemon contains potassium which controls high blood pressure and reduces the effect of nausea and dizziness. 3. Prevent Cauliflower From Turning Brown Cauliflower tend to turn brown with even the slightest cooking. You can make sure the white vegetables stay white by squeezing a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice on them before heating. 4. Mental Health Lemon water can also prep up your mood and relieve you from depression and stress. Long distance walkers and world travelers as well as explorers look upon the lemon as a Godsend. When fatigue begins, a lemon is sucked through a hole in the top. Quick acting medicine it is, giving almost unbelievable refreshments. 5. Refresh Cutting Boards No wonder your kitchen cutting board smells! After all, you use it to chop onions, crush garlic, and prepare fish. To get rid of the smell and help sanitize the cutting board, rub it all over with the cut side of half a lemon or wash it in undiluted juice straight from the bottle. 6. Respiratory Problems Lemon water can reduce phlegm; and can also help you breathe properly and aids a person suffering with asthma. 7. Treating Arthritis and Rheumatism Lemon is a diuretic - assists in the production of urine which helps you to reduce inflammation by flushing out toxins and bacteria while also giving you relief from arthritis and rheumatism. 8. Prevents Kidney Stones Regular consumption of the refreshing drink -- or even lemon juice mixed with water -- may increase the production of urinary citrate, a chemical in the urine that prevents the formation of crystals that may build up into kidney stones. 9. Keep Insects Out of the Kitchen You don’t need insecticides or ant traps to ant-proof your kitchen. Just give it the lemon treatment. First squirt some lemon juice on door thresholds and windowsills. Then squeeze lemon juice into any holes or cracks where the ants are getting in. Finally, scatter small slices of lemon peel around the outdoor entrance. The ants will get the message that they aren’t welcome. Lemons are also effective against roaches and fleas: Simply mix the juice of 4 lemons (along with the rinds) with 1/2 gallon (2 liters) water and wash your floors with it; then watch the fleas and roaches flee. They hate the smell. 10. Anti-Aging - Lemon water reduces the production of free radicals which are responsible for aging skin and skin damage. Lemon water is calorie free and an antioxidant. 11. Fruit and Vegetable Wash You never know what kind of pesticides or dirt may be lurking on the skin of your favorite fruits and vegetables. Slice your lemon and squeeze out one tablespoon of lemon juice into your spray bottle. The lemon juice is a natural disinfectant and will leave your fruits and vegetables smelling nice too. 12. Treat Infections: Lemon water can fight throat infections thanks to its antibacterial property. If salt water does not work for you, try lime and water for gargling. 13. Deodorize Your Garbage - If your garbage is beginning to smell yucky, here’s an easy way to deodorize it: Save leftover lemon and orange peels and toss them at the base under the bag. To keep it smelling fresh, repeat once every couple of weeks.

Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out. (Or spray the measuring cup or spoon with Pam before using)
Expanding frosting When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.

• Save money on services you need by receiving them from students in training. Examples: Hairdresser, Dental, Massage. Check your local yellow pages for the nearest school; call and make sure they do appointments. All work done is carefully watched over by the instructors. • Ask your doctor for free samples. Pharmaceutical companies flood doctors with samples of all kinds of expensive prescriptions. If your doctor doesn't offer, ask. • Always consider generic. Ask your doctor to prescribe the cheapest form of medicine. Sometimes the Pharmacist will ask if you will accept generic, make sure your insurance company is okay with this. Some will be and some won’t, ask in advance or you may be stuck with the bill. • Toner/Astringent -- Use witch hazel instead. No need to dilute -use full strength. You can also rinse with a splash of Apple Cider Vinegar after cleansing -- it balances out the pH of your skin. • To keep Cold Cream from spoiling and to maintain its freshness, keep it in the refrigerator. Plus it is so cool! • Keep your pantyhose in the freezer, and they will last longer. • For great lotion, mix one-part lotion with one-part Vaseline. It works better than plain lotion, and, depending on the cost of your lotion, you can stretch its value. • Remove gum from hair with nail polish remover, then shampoo. People have thought that doing this with peanut butter was correct, and I am not saying it isn’t. But with the new information out about people being allergic to peanuts, why take the chance?

Have fun on Halloween
Go Trick or Treating Ever had the desire to experiment with Goth makeup and clothes but were too afraid? This is the night to do it. Paint your nails black, find a bottle of black eyeliner and a tube of black lipstick and have some fun. Boys included. Make yourself into a zombie. Pull out an old suit jacket or prom dress from your mom's or dad's closet (with permission) and fringe it with scissors or rip the fabric. Run it through dirt or powder it with flour for an aging affect. Watch "Thriller" or "Calling All the Monsters" videos on YouTube for ideas to make your zombie outfit just right.
Roane County Skating Center and The Roane Reader have joined forces to provide recognition to some area readers. Each month we will be recognizing the best readers from every class in participating area schools. Each student will receive two free passes for skate night and be listed in The Roane Reader. If your school is interested in participating in this program please contact: Jennifer Thompson @ jenniferthompson777@gmail.com or (865) 705-8955. Teachers must have there readers in by the 20th of each month.
Set up a simple mini-haunted house on the porch, in a foyer, or in the driveway or garage to spook your visitors. It doesn't have to be elaborate: a large cardboard box painted black with a friend waiting inside to spring out; a lawn littered with stray Barbie parts or broken dolls; bowls filled with fake blood made from red dye and corn syrup or other ingredients; use your creativity.
Have a party. Plan a pumpkin-carving contest for teens only. Order pizzas, sodas and watch a scary movie. Eat M&Ms or scream every time someone jumps out in the flick or when the name of a main character is spoken. Exaggerate your fright. Have a costume contest. A VISITORS GUIDE TO KNOXVILLE 1. You must learn to pronounce the city name correctly. It is NoxVull. 2. Forget traffic rules you learned elsewhere, we have our own version. The Trans-Am with the loudest exhaust goes first at a 4-way stop, the truck with the biggest tires goes after that... 3. All directions start with "go down to Kingston Pike, which is the Alpha and Omega...the beginning and the end. 4. Henley Street becomes Chapman Hwy., or 441. Broadway turns into Maynardville Hwy., or 33. Cumberland Ave. turns into Kingston Pike, and Magnolia Ave. turns into Asheville Hwy. 5. The morning rush hour is from 6-10...the evening rush hour is 3-7. Friday rush hour starts Thursday morning. 6. If you stop at a yellow light, you will be rear-ended, cussed out, and possible shot. 7. Gallaher View Road can only be pronounced by a native. 8. Construction on I-40/75 is a permanent thing! 9. Watch very carefully for road hazards such as deer, skunks, dogs, barrels, cones, cows, horses, potholes, cats, pieces of other cars, truck tires, raccoons, squirrels, rabbits, and crows feeding on all the above. 10. Three interstates converge to run through the Greater Knoxville area, resulting in a bounty of 18-wheeler accidents and spills. Recent spills include cattle, liquor, live artillery shells, Rolling Rock bottle caps, phosphoric acid, Styrofoam peanuts, and yes.....corn syrup! 11. Natives refer to the Pellissippi Parkway. You will find no road signs marked as such. It is actually Interstate 140, but don't refer to it as that because the locals will have no idea what you are talking about. 12. The minimum acceptable speed on Pellissippi Parkway is 85. Anything less in consider downright sissy! 13. If it's 100 degrees, Thanksgiving must be next weekend. If it's 10 degrees and snowing, the Dogwood Arts Festival is going on. 14. Knoxville Center Mall is actually in East Knoxville. West Town Mall id just east of Downtown West. 15. No one who lives in the town of Farragut is actually from Tennessee, or even the South. Admiral Farragut was a Union soldier. Yep, they're all Yankees! 16. It is better to stay off the roads on Saturdays in the fall, as 3 out of 4 drivers have had way to much Jack Daniels at the ball game and the fourth is a cop! 17. Never, and we mean NEVER, plan a wedding for a weekend when UT is playing football. That's what open dates are for! 18. There is nothing in the sun sphere Don't try to go up there. 19. It is a good and honorable thing to work on a mobile home sales lot. 20. Yeah, the mountains are pretty, but how bout them outlet malls! 21. The Chamber of Commerce says parking after dark in the Old City should be "pretty safe." 24. If you see a really interesting old building in Knoxville, there is no doubt a plan to tear it down! 25. The two tallest buildings in Knoxville and the 1982 World's Fair park were built by two brothers who promptly filed bankruptcy and went to prison for bank fraud. Whispers of Prayer

By: Donna Kay Reynolds
Gone Fishing
Whispers of prayers on wings of angels hear the sound of Heavenly bells. With beautiful voices the angels sing and the bells of Heaven ring. Whispers of prayers with an aroma so sweet angels bow at Jesus feet. Prayers going to Heaven for answers you seek on whispers of prayer God will answer your need. Say a prayer in a whisper God is able to hear and He will even dry your tears. Whispers of prayers on angels wings listen you can hear them sing a song of praise and worship to the Lamb for He is the Great I AM.
First Love
By: Chris Solamon, at age 16 Why did he lie to me? Why did he take my hand? He looked in my eyes, and told me those lies, I try,...But I don’t understand. Why did he swear to love me? What reason can I find? He said it sincerely--I loved him dearly, How could I be so blind? Why must I search for answers? Why do I mourn and cry? Why can’t I forget that we ever met? Why won’t my love just die? Why on earth do I love him? That I am a fool is plain. For it is a fact, if I could go back, I’d do it all again.

Psalm 107:8
By: Elsie Wyrick
By: Katie B. Randolph
Dear Friends: This is for all of you who like to go fishing.
Dear, God I just want to say "thank you for this another day for the food we eat and the home we share, and money for bills we must pay. Thank you Father for giving to me a husband so kind an true; For the children you've placed here in our caremy thanks, Lord, is overdue. Forgive me for failing to stop and count my blessings everyday; for neglecting my Bible study and sometimes, forgetting to pray. Forgive me Lord if I haven't been a testimony for theeWith some idle word or deed I've done, or sins I cannot see. Help me to be a Christian to witness for you each dayThat I might not cause one saint to stumble, nor stand in one sinners way. Help me to remember where I was when you came to mein the form of the Holy Spiritthrough Christ you set me free. In closing I'd like to say thank you for Jesus Christ, my Lord, for grace and truth and mercy, and faith to believe Thy Word. Now give me a burden for every soul I know that's lost in sin todayand don't lift it Lord, until for each one I've taken the time to pray." - Amen
May I ask you a question? Do you prepare before you go out to your special place to catch that big one you’ve dreamed of catching for so long? By this I mean--do you have a good fishing rod and the very best of bait? If you have, it’s because you know you can’t catch fish unless you do prepare before going there. Well, here I go again--the Holy Word of God tells us if we don’t prepare our hearts and be in His will, we don’t have a good chance to receive all He has gone back to Heaven to prepare for us to inherit from Him! I pray you understand this and be truly ready for Him. !

Dear friends, I like lemonade, but I know just by putting lemons into a pitcher of water doesn’t make lemonade! The process (old way) is rolling lemons on a hard surface until they are soft, squeezing the juice out adding sugar, add cold water drink, enjoy! Now may I speak spiritually, when we talk to people about their soul we need to go by Gods process which is telling them about His love, His plan for salvation and how to repent of their sins and pray for them, then let God do the rest! Please remember to tell them how wonderful it is to be in Gods will!
October’s Party By: George Cooper
October gave a party; The leaves by hundreds cameThe Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples, And leaves of every name. The Sunshine spread a carpet, And everything was grand, Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band. The Chestnuts came in yellow, The Oaks in crimson dressed; The lovely Misses Maple In scarlet looked their best; All balanced to their partners, And gaily fluttered by; The sight was like a rainbow New fallen from the sky. Then, in the rustic hollow, At hide-and-seek they played, The party closed at sundown, And everybody stayed. Professor Wind played louder; They flew along the ground; And then the party ended In jolly "hands around."

Man Rules---for the ladies We always hear 'the rules' from the females, now here are the rules from the male side Please note. These are all numbered #1 on purpose! 1. Men are not mind readers. 1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down. 1. Crying is blackmail. 1. Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one: Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work! Just say it! 1. Yes and no are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question. 1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for. 1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days. 1. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us. 1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one. 1. You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done. Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself. 1. Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials. 1. Christopher Columbus did not need directions, neither do we... 1. All men see in only 16 colors, like windows default settings.. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is. 1. If we ask what’s wrong and you say 'nothing,' we will act like nothing's wrong. 1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, expect an answer you don't want to hear.. 1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine...Really. 1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as football or motor sports. 1. You have enough clothes. You have too many shoes. 1. I am in shape. Round is a shape! 1. Thank you for reading this. Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight.. But did you know men really don't mind that? It's like camping...

After you scoop out and carve your pumpkin, dip it in a large container of bleach and water (use a 1 tsp:1 gal mix). The bleach will kill bacteria and help your pumpkin stay fresh longer. Once completely dry, (drain upside down), add 2 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to a quart of water. Brush this solution onto your pumpkin to keep it looking fresh for weeks.

Growing Up In Harriman (1930-1945) Part X
From Austro-Hungary to Harriman By: Pete Semanick
At the ripe old age of 21 and speaking no English, my grandpa on my father’s side of the family immigrated from Austro-Hungary, now Slovakia, to America in 1886, first settling in Pennsylvania to work in the coal mines, and later to work in the Montana coal and gold mines in 1897. Coal mining was hard and dirty labor. One of my older cousins told me about a coal mine strike near Lattimer, Pennsylvania on September 10th, 1897, which became widely known as the “Lattimer Massacre”. The miners who marched included Poles, Slovaks and Lithuanians who immigrated during the Austro-Hungary era. During the melee, over 75 sheriffs as well as the mine owner’s security guards arrived with Winchesters and handguns. The miners were not armed and were peacefully marching in protest about poor working conditions. After failing to stop marching, the sheriffs starting firing at the protesters, killing 22 strikers and wounding over 75. The story goes that during the hand-to-hand fighting to protect him self and others, my grandpa knocked down one of the security guards. Not knowing whether the man was just knocked out or dead, one of the strikers led my grandpa away to a more secure area. The union officials decided to get my grandpa out of the area as soon as possible. In the dark of night he was shipped to Montana leaving his family in Hazelton, Pa. I was also told that grandpa used Carl as his first name. Once he arrived in Montana he started using his second name “John” to elude being recognized. He used John throughout the remainder of his life. It was in Montana that Grandma Semanick operated a boarding house renting beds to other mine workers. Grandpa also had a little bootleg business on the side. According to the Montana national census of 1910 grandpa owned his house with no debt owed. Slovaks evidently were a thrifty group as grandpa saved a hefty pocket full of money, as you will see later in this article. . A few years later news arrived in this part of Montana that the Tennessee Land Authority had opened land for sale in eastern Tennessee. Promises of fertile farmland, expansive forestland and wonderful weather conditions would be found in this newly developing part of the country. Hearing this, grandpa was convinced to move his family to Tennessee. He settled in Morgan County on Oakdale Mountain, just north of the Roane County line in 1912. I found property purchase records in the Morgan county court house at Wartburg showing he paid $22,231.00 in cold cash for land in June, 1912. His purchase included approximately 740 acres of prime farmland and forest. Much of the land was purchased from the George and Parolee Wester family. It was in this area that many other immigrants such as Poles and Hungarians settled, as well as many other Slovak families. Names such as Shundak, Homoly, Babinchak, Malinowski & Palko dotted this area as well as in Harriman. These folks were all members of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harriman. A strong religious background bonded the families, as church was their passion. The Semancik family consisted of Grandpa John, Grandma Mary, uncles George, Mike, Steve, Frank, my dad Pete, and aunts Agnes and Annie. Shortly after settling in Tennessee aunt Katherine was born.

Neighbors in the area were Snow, Whalen and Nile families. These folks assisted grandpa and family in building a two story wood frame house. A two-stall wooden barn was also erected some distance from the house. Soon the ground was cleared for many crops to produce food to feed the family and hay to fill the barn. Many young men immigrated from the Austro-Hungarian Empire to avoid the four-year draft that most often led them to fight battles very far from home. Coupled with economic problems due to industrialization, America became indeed a Land of Promise. Almost 2 million Americans today claim Slovakian ancestry. Pete Semanick was born in Harriman on September 19th, 1930. This is the eighth entry of a series of articles recounting his youth in Harriman, TN. For questions or comments contact: psemanic@swcp.com

Rockwood Memories James Kilroy By: Ray Collet Do you remember Kilroy? While growing up trains would come through Rockwood with chalk graffiti drawn on the train cars. Usually there was a drawing or two of Kilroy. This is interesting...I have often wondered about Kilroy....now I know. Great piece of history. Anyone born in the mid-thirties or (earlier) knew Kilroy. We didn't know why but we had lapel pins with his nose hanging over the lapel and the top of his face above his nose with his hands hanging over the lapel too. I believe it was orange colored. No one knew why he was so well known but we all joined in ! Kind of a war story-now we know ! INTERESTING ? KILROY WAS HERE ! WHO THE HECK WAS KILROY? In 1946 the American Transit Association, through its radio program, "Speak To America" , sponsored a nationwide contest to find the REAL Kilroy, offering a prize or a real trolley car to the person who could prove himself to be the genuine article. Almost 40 men stepped forward to make that claim, but only James Kilroy from Halifax, Massachusetts, had evidence of his identity. Kilroy was a 46-year old shipyard worker during the war who worked as a checker at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy. His job was to go around and check on the number of rivets completed. Riveters were on piecework and got paid by the rivet. Kilroy would count a block of rivets and put a check mark in semi-waxed lumber chalk, so the rivets wouldn't be counted twice. When Kilroy went off duty, the riveters would erase the mark. Later on, an off-shift inspector would come through and count the rivets a second time, resulting in double pay for the riveters. One day Kilroy's boss called him into his office. The foreman was upset about all the wages being paid to riveters, and asked him to investigate. It was then he realized what had been going on. The tight spaces he had to crawl in to check the rivets didn't lend themselves to lugging around a paint can and brush, so Kilroy decided to stick with the waxy chalk. He continued to put his check mark on each job he inspected, but added KILROY WAS HERE in king-sized letters next to the check, and eventually added the sketch of the chap with the long nose peering over the fence and that became part of the Kilroy message. Once he did that, the riveters stopped trying to wipe away his marks. Ordinarily the rivets and chalk marks would have been covered up with paint. With war on, however, ships were leaving the Quincy Yard so fast that there wasn't time to paint them. As a result, Kilroy's inspection "trademark" was seen by thousands of servicemen who boarded the troopships the yard produced. His message apparently rang a bell with the servicemen, because they picked it up and spread it all over Europe and the South Pacific. Before war's end, "Kilroy" had been here, there, and everywhere on the long hauls to Berlin and Tokyo. To the troops outbound in those ships, however, he was a complete mystery, all they knew for sure was that some jerk named Kilroy had "been there first." As a joke, U.S. servicemen began placing the graffiti wherever they landed, claiming it was already there when they arrived. Kilroy became the U.S. super-GI who had always "already been" wherever GIs went. It became a challenge to place the logo in the most unlikely places imaginable (it is said to be atop Mt. Everest, the Statue of Liberty, the underside of I'Arc De Triomphe, and even scrawled in the dust on the moon ). As the war went on, the legend grew. Underwater demolition teams routinely sneaked ashore on Japanese-held islands in the Pacific to map the terrain for coming invasions by U.S. troops painting over the Kilroy logo! In 1945, an outhouse was built for the exclusive use of Roosevelt, Stalin, and Churchill at the Potsdam conference. Its' first occupant was Stalin, who emerged and asked his aide (in Russian). "WHO IS KILROY?" To help prove his authenticity in 1946, James Kilroy brought along officials from the shipyard and some of the riveters. He won the trolley car, which he gave to his nine children as a Christmas gift and set it up as a playhouse in the Kilroy front yard in Halifax, Massachusetts. SO NOW YOU KNOW !

The orionids Meteor Shower
Oct. 21st The Orionids meteor shower has been observed for nearly 200 years, with the earliest sighting 1839. Orionids is one of the top meteor showers to observe during the 4th quarter of the year, producing up to 20 green and yellow meteors per hour during its peak. Orionids meteors are also known to be speedy, with meteors soaring through the night sky at approximately 147,638 miles per hour—ninja reflexes are required to capture the magic on camera. Autumn is in full force in the Northern Hemisphere, and that can only mean that the peak of the Orionids meteor shower is quickly approaching. This annual celestial event is the most prolific meteor shower associated with Hailley’s Comet and the second of two showers (the first being ETA Aquarids) that occur due to the Earth passing through the dust of the famed comet. In fact, most meteor showers are the product of Earth passing into the dust particles of a comet. Many thousands of years ago, Halley’s Comet left a trail of dust behind as it traveled through space. The Orionid meteor shower takes place when Earth travels right through that trail of dust and debris every year. What appear to be shooting stars are actually tiny grains of dust burning up in Earth’s atmosphere. While the Orionids may be active from October 2nd through November 7th, it is strongest on the night of October 20th, and into the morning of October 21st, when it will peak. The peak of a meteor shower is the moment of the strongest meteor activity, and the number of meteors during this time is expected to range from 15 to 25 meteors per hour under ideal viewing conditions. As with many meteor showers, predicting the peak of the Orionids is difficult; we’ve seen an upwards of 40 meteor showers per hour during various years, while other years have seen a modest 5 during peak hours.

Andy Rooney says: Retake America & Canada I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I don't agree with Darwin , but I didn't go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his Theory of Evolution. Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game. So what's the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire Book of Acts. They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game. But it's a Christian prayer, some will argue. Yes, and this is the United States of America and Canada , countries founded on Christian principles. According to our very own phone book, Christian churches out number all others better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect -- somebody chanting Hare Krishna? If I went to a football game in Jerusalem , I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer. If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad , I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer. If I went to a ping pong match in China , I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha. And I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit. When in Rome ...... But what about the atheists? Is another argument. What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humour us for 30 seconds. If that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer! Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations. Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep. Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying. God, help us. And if that last sentence offends you, well, just sue me. The silent majority has been silent too long. It's time we tell that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard that the vast majority doesn't care what they want. It is time that the majority rules! It's time we tell them, "You don't have to pray; you don't have to say the Pledge of Allegiance; you don't have to believe in God or attend services that honour Him. That is your right, and we will honour your right; but by golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away. We are fighting back, and we WILL WIN!" God bless us one and all...Especially those who denounce Him, God bless America and Canada , despite all our faults, We are still the greatest nation of all. God bless our service men who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship God. Let's make 2013/2014 the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions. And our military forces come home from all the wars. Keep looking up.

Dishonest Mom: Parenthood & Falsehoods Sometimes lying is part of parenthood. It takes children a long time to figure out what we’ve been fibbing about—you know, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, what vegetables you hid in tonight’s dinner, and what really happened to her goldfish (she’s a little suspicious of the running away to the goldfish circus thing). Really, it seems like we try to get away with it as long as possible. We will continue to deny unpleasant information, like the goldfish’s sudden and unfortunate death, until our children present us with clear and indisputable evidence. Even then, there’s no guarantee we’re coming clean. As a parent, I’m a big fan of the loophole lie. For example, I can confidently and truthfully tell my child that there’s no cauliflower in her mashed potatoes because she’s not eating mashed potatoes. She’s eating mashed cauliflower. I didn’t technically tell a lie, and she just ate a large amount of cauliflower. Amazing, right? I try not to feel too badly about the blatant untruths and occasional loophole lies I tell my daughter when we talk about school, which she’s convinced is the equivalent of an amusement park. I just can’t bring myself to break her (school) spirit, so I go along with it. She can’t wait to start school and she insists on carrying her “pack-pack” (backpack) and lunchbox around the house. She’s excited about learning, having a nice teacher, and even cafeteria food. I don’t really have the heart to tell her the cold, hard truth about these things, so I smile and pretend that cafeteria food is my favorite. I say school is exciting and fun. I pretend that having homework is a good thing and that class “pizza parties” consist of more than a slice of cold pizza and a Dixie cup with generic soda in it. She buys it, which is a good thing, because she looks so cute with her backpack on. Another thing that warrants outright lying to your children? Doctor’s office visits and shots. Based on the things I say to my daughter, you’d think the doctor’s office is my favorite place in the world. I have to build it up like it’s incredibly fun and totally pain-free to lure her into her checkups and the unavoidable “needle sticks” (shots) that come along with it. She seems to have really short-term memory of the discomfort and all around yuckiness of shots because by the time her next checkup comes around, she’s singing in the backseat and excited about reading the 15 year old children’s books in the waiting room. Don’t get me wrong—I’m singing with her and hyping up those stickers they hand out. It just feels a little sad because I know what’s really going to happen in that cold and Lysol-scented prison. But, hey! I already did my time. I’ve been vaccinated and had my blood drawn enough to cover me for the rest of my life. I hope. So, we love our kids and we want to give them the best life we can. We teach them to always tell the truth and be caring yet critical human beings. We do all this while we tell “harmless” parenting white lies that seem to make things easier (Shots don’t hurt! This tofu tastes just like chicken! Santa Claus is coming to town! Everyone in the world is your friend!). Is that really so bad? Only time will tell if my parenting experiment turned out successfully. Until then, I’ll be dubiously mixing vegetables into trusted dinner items and pretending that her presents come from a large, jovial man with a penchant for gift-giving and cookies. Worse than death: Critical illness money fears… People fear the bill collector more than the Grim Reaper. Among workers ages 40 and 50, nearly half fear the financial consequences of a critical illness— compared with just 29 percent who rate dying as their biggest concern, according to a new study. That fear of a hit to the wallet being a bigger concern than dying is most pronounced among single workers, single women and single parents, according to A Sun Life Financial survey, "Well-Placed Fears: Workers' Perceptions of a Critical Illness." For example, single women in that 40-50 age group who earn less than $50,000 are four times more concerned about the financial fallout of a critical illness than they are worried about being killed by it, the report found. For millions of workers, getting sick doesn't pay and most single parents and single women ages 22 to 39 in that income bracket are more worried about paying the bills from those illnesses than dying from them. Despite those stark money-related fears, the overwhelming majority of American workers are going without insurance coverage that would specifically pay bills from a critical illness. Thirty-six percent of the workers who responded to the survey believe they have critical illness coverage—but less than 5 percent of all workers are estimated to actually carry such coverage. "Our findings suggest that benefits brokers and [human resources] decision-makers might especially want to consider offering critical illness and cancer insurance if their employee base contains a significant group of women, workers age 40 to 50 or singles," said Kimberly Ezell of Robert James & Associates, Inc. Hard choices for self-employed caught in Obama Care gaps! Ezell's singling out of cancer stemmed from another major finding of the survey, which polled more than 4,100 full-time workers and was conducted by Kelton Research. Nearly half of all workers polled—48 percent—were most worried about falling victim to an invasive cancer. Heart attack was the top concern for 32 percent, and stroke for 15 percent. Of the 285 survey respondents who had suffered a critical illness, two-thirds had to take special measures to cover related costs. A total of 28 percent tapped their retirement savings and other funds earmarked for future needs, 28 percent dipped into emergency funds and 21 percent borrowed money from family or friends. Twelve percent declared bankruptcy and 11 percent either sold their homes or had them foreclosed upon. Ezell, said that the research "underscores that even if you have robust health coverage, a significant health condition such as cancer, heart attack or stroke can divert a significant chunk of money from your savings, or, in some cases, cost you your home. Ezell also said that based on the study's results, "we think many workers will want to explore ways to increase their financial security in case they experience a critical illness." New on the scene are some modern policies that offer Accelerated Benefit Riders for Terminal Illness, Chronic Illness and Critical Illness. The Accelerated Benefit Riders are one more building block in creating a secure financial future for you and your family. These important riders are usually included for no additional cost and come with retirement savings type plans. A combination of those Accelerated Benefit Riders could cover some, if not all of the extra costs associated with a critical illness. A critical illness policy would provide a flat sum of extra money available to a person suffering from a critical illness, and not be just a percentage of a person's lost wages, such as disability insurance. Modern policies can provide up to 300% more spendable dollars at retirement. Bob Tonachio is CEO of Robert James & Associates a national financial services company. The NEW Principal It was the first day of school. As the principal made his rounds, he heard a terrible commotion coming from one of the classrooms. He rushed in and spotted one boy, taller than the others, who seemed to be making the most noise. He seized the lad, dragged him to the hall, and told him to wait there until he was excused. Returning to the classroom, the principal restored order and lectured the class for half an hour about the importance of good behavior. Now," he said," are there any questions? "One girl stood up timidly. "Please sir," she asked, "May we have our teacher back?" "Where is exactly is your teacher?" "He's in the hall, sir."

The State Capitol The Tennessee State Capitol, located in Nashville, Tennessee, is the home of the Tennessee legislature, the location of the governor's office, and a National Historic Landmark. Designed by architect William Strickland, it is one of Nashville's most prominent examples of Greek Revival architecture. It is one of only eleven state capitols (along with those of Delaware, Hawaii, Louisiana, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Alaska and Virginia) that does not have a dome.
Tennessee State Capitol during the Civil War The State Capitol was designed by renowned Philadelphia architect William Strickland, who modeled it after a Greek Ionic temple. The lantern is a copy of the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates in Athens. The cornerstone was laid on July 4, 1845 and the building was completed fourteen years later in 1859. The American Society of Civil Engineers has listed the building as a civil engineering landmark in recognition of its innovative construction, which made unusually extensive use of stone and was an early example of the use of structural iron. Both the interior and exterior are built with limestone from a quarry about 1 mile from the site. Some interior columns were built from single pieces of stone, requiring massive wooden derricks to hoist them into place. Wrought iron, instead of wood, was used for the roof trusses to reduce the building's vulnerability to fire. Strickland died five years before the building's completion and was entombed in its northeast wall. His son, F. W. Strickland, supervised completion of the structure. William Strickland also designed the Egyptian Revival style Downtown Presbyterian Church, formerly known as First Presbyterian Church, Nashville. Samuel Dold Morgan (1798–1880), chairman of the State Building Commission overseeing the construction of the Tennessee State Capitol, is entombed in the southeast corner near the south entrance
Monuments
Monuments on the Capitol grounds include statues of two of the three Tennessee residents who served as President of the United States: Andrew Jackson by Clark Mills and Andrew Johnson by Jim Gray. The second President from Tennessee, James K. Polk, is buried in a tomb on the grounds, together with his wife, Sarah Childress Polk. Other monuments on the grounds include the Sgt. Alvin C. York Memorial by Felix de Weldon, the Tennessee Holocaust Commission Memorial, the Sam Davis Memorial at the southwest corner of the Capitol grounds, the Sen. Edward Ward Carmack Memorial located above the Motlow Tunnel near the south entrance, and the Memorial to Africans during the Middle Passage at the southwest corner of Capitol grounds. The Charles Warterfield Reliquary is a group of broken limestone columns and fragments removed and saved from the State Capitol during the mid-1950s restoration, located near the northern belvedere on Capitol Drive.

OCTOBER 2013
You may be a Georgia fan if... •You think the stock market has a fence around it. •Your stereo speakers used to belong to the Moonlight Drive-in Theater. •You own four cars and no hubcaps. •Your idea of a great Christmas present is a gift certificate to the local bail bondsman •You burn your yard rather than mow it. •Your entire family has ever sat around waiting for a call from the Governor to spare a loved one. •Your grandmother has ever been asked to leave the bingo hall because of her language. •You have the local taxidermist's number on speed dial. •You've ever hit a deer with your car...deliberately. •You've ever given rat traps as gifts. •You keep a can of RAID on the kitchen table. •Your wife can climb a tree faster than your cat. •Your mother has "ammo" on her Christmas list. •You've totaled every car you've ever owned. •There are more than five McDonald's bags currently in the floorboard of your car. •There has ever been crime-scene tape on your bathroom door. •You've ever bathed with flea and tick soap. •You think "taking out the trash" means taking your in-laws to a movie. •Your kids take a siphon hose to "Show and Tell." •The dog catcher calls for a backup unit when visiting your house. •You prefer car keys to Q-tips. •You've ever filled your deer tag on the golf course. •MOTEL 6 turns off the lights when they see you coming. •You own more than three shirts with the sleeves cut off. •Your dog has a litter of puppies on the living room floor and nobody notices. •Your family tree does not fork. •You have a rag for a gas cap. •The dog can't watch you eat without gagging. •You have a Hefty Bag for a passenger-side window. •You show your boyfriend you really love him by carving his name on your arm. •You ever hit on somebody in a V.D. clinic. •You've ever been too drunk to fish. •You cut your toenails in front of company. •Hitchhikers won't get in the car with you. •You wonder how service stations keep their restrooms so clean. •You've ever been fired from a construction job because of your appearance. •You've ever cleaned fish in your living room.
Happy Birthday in Heaven

Gator Hater Jokes
One day, two Florida Gator players were out turkey hunting for Thanksgiving. One of them starts having a stroke and he thinks he is dying, and he passes out. The other kid calls the police and says: "Hello, I think my partner here is dead - he isn't moving or anything." The operator replies: "Ok, its ok, go up to him and make sure he is dead." You hear a silence then all of a sudden you hear...BOOM! BOOM! The student comes back on the phone and says: "Yah, I took care of that, what now?" A Florida grad sees an ad for a $99 cruise. So, he goes down to the travel agent and shells out his money. The travel agent hits him over the head with a baseball bat, stuffs him in a sack, throws him out the back window onto a raft and cuts the raft loose. The grad wakes up to find himself adrift, along with another Gator grad. The first grad says "I hope they serve dinner on this cruise." The second one replies, "They didn't last year." What do you call a drug ring in Tallahassee?........A huddle. What do Florida grads call Tennessee grads?....... BOSS! The Florida football team was placed in a remedial English class. The professor asked the class, "Does anyone know what comes after a sentence?" All of the players raised their hands. "The appeal," they shouted with Seminole pride. Albert Einstein went to a party at UT and asked people their I.Q. ....he asked this guy and the guy said,"120". Einstein said, "great, we can talk about nuclear fission". then he asked this girl and she said,"110" and he said "great, we can talk about the angle of the worlds axis." Finally he went up to this one misplaced guy and the guy said,"51" and Einstein said,"how bout them Gators!" A guy walks into a bar and says, "Hey barkeep, did you ever hear the one about the Florida Gators?" Four huge men stand up and approach the man. One of them says, "We play football at Florida, you wanna tell that joke to us?" The guy replies, "What? And have to explain it four times?"
Going to church does not make you a Christian anymore than going to a football game makes you a player."
