Good afternoon and welcome to today’s game against Bewdley Town.

It seems like ages since we have had a home game again and hopefully being back amongst our home comforts can see us get a positive result today.

To say results have been mixed recently would be an understatement with us only picking up One win. That win however came away from home against a very good Shifnal town side who I expect to be up there at the end of the season. That game was sandwiched in between two games against Lichfield City and to be honest I think if anyone finishes above them this season, they will win the league as they were very strong. When results are not going your way, you have to try and find some positives and the positives for us have been our performances in recent weeks. I have said all along that the squad would need time to gel and learn how we want to play and also the standards That we expect as a management team, and I feel that we are nearly there. There are no easy games in this league as I am finding out week in week out and Bewdley will provide us with a test today as they have brought in a number of good players over the last two weeks, we have also had a few player movements with Stephen Palmer and Ryan Inman, both leaving the club. We are always looking to strengthen the squad but seeing long-term injury and lads back in training in Lewis, McPike and Josh Benton gives me a lot of pleasure knowing that we will soon have both of these players available for selection.

Hi all and welcome to today’s game against Bewdley Town.

Nice to have a fixture back on home soil after a few weeks on our travels.

Over the last couple weeks, we’ve had a mix of results, losing against a good Lichfield side but then picking up a massive 3 points away to a very good Shifnal side.

Performances of late have been very good, and the lads are now determined to start bringing a bit of consistency into our game as we try and climb the table putting the points on the board, starting today against Bewdley.

Every game in this league is tough, so come 15:00 today, we will be doing all we can, to make sure come 17:00, we have 3 points on the board!

Everyone involved with Romulus Football Club is a volunteer, that includes Richard and myself. We have been involved with the club since it's founda on in 1979.

We have had lots of people help , get involved over the years and not everyone of those people were volunteers, that is why l appreciate everything anyone does to help the club in anyway, the on field at the moment is really good, and of course as within any club the off field can always be improved, l would like to say that whoever helps our club a very big thank you. Hopefully our club will go from strength to strength but that only happens when everyone involved is aiming for the same goal, there are big aims in front of us, but we can only achieve if we all do it together.

Romulus Sunday was founded in 2020, originally playing in division 3 of the Sutton district league. After being promoted 3 divisions in 3 years, we will this season be competing in the premier division and are hopeful that we can continue to impress and compete in any league.

There is no doubt that the competition we will face this year will be the hardest yet, but with crop of lads that we have, and the environment we have created over the years, we all know that we are more than capable of competing against any Sunday side on our day. Knowing what you can do and actually doing it are two very different things. With arguably the youngest side in the league, consistency is going to be our biggest challenge this year and that’s exactly what will be demanded from everyone involved.

We pride ourselves on giving young lads the opportunity to get valuable experience in men’s football and attempt to create a genuine pathway into first team football for them, wherever that may be. But first and foremost, we make sure that we have a set up in place that allows everyone to enjoy their football. That’s what it will always come down to.

Seems a while back away at Boldmere St. Michaels that we began our season off with the FA Youth Cup. Playing a Floodlight team who in recent years have gained quite the reputa on it felt like a tough test ahead. With the First Team management duo filling in, the stage was set for what I felt would be a difficult night on a warm evening back at the start of September. With a mix of mainly new scholars & some lads from last season the game turned out to be a real decent compe ve match against the older slightly more experienced setup at our local rivals. A single goal each half se led the affair for the hosts as Boldmere came out 2-0 winners. Okay out the cup, but from what I witnessed on and off the pitch gave me a taste of what just might happen in the league and I am not disappointed one bit so far.

With Luke Rowe back at the helm with us at home, Rom's young guns took on ProDirect which ended up a belter. A goal fest pursued with a 6-3 victory. The main thing I took from the game was that when we tried to play good football our visitors to Lindridge Road just could not compete and also this was our last match at home in the previous league season which we lost so improvement on the 2022/23 season also kicked off.

Next we headed south to Crystal Palace in a game of errors from our man in the middle with the whistle and cards. An unfortunate and wrong sending off midway in the firsthalf meant our keeper had to take an early shower with us already in a commanding lead. The host managed to pull it back and in the end we had to se le for a 2-2 draw with a long trip back to North Birmingham for a game that felt like points dropped even this early in the season.

At me of wri ng we returned to winning ways last Wednesday with a 4-1 victory and now look ahead to another away day at Mickleover Sports Academy. Chief Club Journalist Adam Holt caught up with Romulus Owner and Chairman Richard Evans to talk all things Romulus. Richard also opened on the origins of his company Tame Cleaning and much more!

- Could you briefly describe your role with Romulus?

My position at Romulus is as Chairman. My main role is to improve the whole structure of the club and help us progress for many years too come .

- What has been your favorite moment at the club over the years?

My favourite times have been when I managed the first team for over nineteen years and made us an established non-league club. Four promotions in that time have given me the most pleasure as its difficult to win one promotion let alone four!

- How important is the academy and how important is it for the club?

The academy gives a real reason for the club staying in existence. We should all be very proud that we are helping young lads in both full time education and also with their football careers.

- How did you come to start up Tame Cleaning?

Tame cleaning started many years ago and has gone from strength to strength as a result of hard work and dedication.

I started by cleaning houses and pubs, and today it has grown to clean schools, hospitals and much more.

- How enjoyable has the journey been with Tame so far and where do you see the business in a few years time?

The Tame journey has been all about hard work.

We will continue to grow naturally as all of our 250 plus staff, who all endeavor to deliver a good service.
