WITH THE ADVENT OF NEW BOARD MEMBERS elected last November, Somersett has a “hands-on” board ready to dig into the issues and improve the way our community looks and functions. You might find a board member hiking through the gravel and dirt to get a better understanding of rock walls and slides. Or walking the parkway counting the number of dead trees or broken sprinkler heads. Or speaking to city officials to encourage Reno to pitch in to aid our community. The good news is that it’s working, and we’re excited to see positive change for Somersett.

The lawsuits that have weighed on the SOA in past years have been settled equitably and are behind us now. There is one remaining court appeal concerning the rockery wall case, but this has been paid for in full and no further legal costs are accumulating. We’ll know the result sometime later this year.

The new Somersett.org website has been launched and contains a ton of new features. Find your neighbors. Exchange recipes. Make reservations at the club.

Report a problem. Join a community discussion forum. Sign up to receive the newsletter, get updates from the Club, and much more. The website is the place where you can keep up with the latest news and announcements and participate in your community amenities and events. Visit Somersett.org and register as a homeowner to get started.

We’re looking forward to a great summer and want to be ready. Experts are looking into ways to better manage our trees and landscape to use less water and achieve a healthier ecosystem and we’re working hand in hand with our landscape contractor. We’re also looking at ways to jump-start our community events this summer as the COVID-19 restrictions ease. Our favorite ideas include a monthly farmer’s market at the Town Center or a sunset golf cart tour and progressive appetizer event.

Watch for the formation of a community events committee to spearhead those efforts.

Somersett is your community and the SOA Board works for you. We’d love to hear from you. Watch for a series of “5 in 5” surveys where you can answer five questions in under five minutes that will let us know what is important to you which will help us direct our efforts. The first survey was about how we can improve the meals and drink offerings poolside this summer. There was a terrific response, and we are working on your suggestions now. More surveys on the way, please participate because your opinion matters and will help to direct our effort.

So much more is on the way as we work to make Somersett the best place to live in Reno.

Play the Tom Kite designed Championship Country Club Course

Polar Bear Golf Tournament – Two-Person Team

All Somersett residents are welcome to play the Championship Country Club Course four times per year. Each resident may book a foursome of players at a rate of $80 per player (in season, AprilOctober) and $50 per player (off season, November through March).

This includes green fee, driving range usage and golf cart. We take tee times for residents four days in advance at 787-1800, ext. 103.

Men, please remember our dress code of no denim, collared golf shirts and caps worn forward at all times. For the ladies, no denim, spaghetti-strap tops, bare midriffs or short shorts. Proper footwear, such as golf or tennis shoes, is required.

Saturday, March 13, 2021, 11 am shotgun start | $80 per player Find a partner for the Polar Bear, our annual two-person scramble golf event. This event is open to all members, guests, community members, professionals, and members of the Northern Nevada Golf Association – in other words, everyone! The fee of $80 per player includes golf, cart, range, St. Patrick’s Day themed dinner, and golf shop credit for prizes. There will be both gross and net divisions, with a valid USGA handicap required for net eligibility. Sign-ups will begin 30 days in advance. Check with the golf shop for event details and entry procedure at 787-1800, ext. 2.

Driving Range

Masters Par Three Tournament

All Somersett residents may use the mats on the north side of the driving range at no charge. If you would prefer to hit off the turf at the south end of the range, you MUST pay the usage fee of $10/ person in the golf shop before arriving at the range.

In either case, please check-in with the range attendant upon arrival and tell him or her that you’re a resident looking to utilize the driving range. You may walk to the north end of the range or use the shuttle service (May through October). Juniors under the age of 18 should meet with golf staff to secure privileges without parent supervision.

Saturday, April 10, 9 am shotgun start $40/adult; $20/junior( under 18) Our traditional commemorative Masters Golf Tournament is back! The Masters Golf Tournament is traditionally the start of the golf season, including here in Reno, and our event mimics the one played at Augusta’s Par Three Course on the Wednesday prior to the actual tournament. Everyone in the Somersett community is welcome to participate – country club members AND residents who are not members. The tournament has divisions for men, women and juniors and is played at the country club course.

Plan Ahead for Learn to Golf We are in hopes of once again conducting our popular Learn to Golf Clinics for the community on Saturday mornings. We are still in a holding pattern due to COVID-19 restrictions but will keep you informed as to the start date.

We will award the top gross (actual score) and net (with established handicap through the GHIN system) scores. Adults with no established handicap will participate in the Callaway Scoring Division. Junior scoring will be gross only. If participation warrants, we will have age divisions. We will offer a “Deuce Pool’’ for all players who make a gross two on a hole. In case of a holein-one, all “Deuce Pool” money will go to those making holes-inone.

We will award closest to the hole on all par threes for men and women, with juniors falling into the men’s and women’s category for closest-to-the-hole awards.

While playing your round, we will also test your knowledge with a Masters Trivia Contest.

Entry fees cover green fee, prize fund and a $5 food credit in the Grille to be used either prior to or after your round. After your round, please join us in the Grille for live coverage of the third round of the 2021 Masters Tournament. Members, please sign up on Clubster. Community members, please sign-up with golf shop staff at 787-1800, ext. 2. We hope you can join us for this fabulous start-ofthe-season event.

Junior Golf Opportunity The Somersett Golf and Country Club is offering one boy and one girl aged 8–12 complimentary 2021 Junior Golf Program entry.

Both the men’s and women’s golf associations are sponsoring the enrollment fee for the season, May through October. If you have a child in this age group who is not a member of the country club and would be excited to participate in this amazing program, please pick up an application at the country club. The application requires a copy of your child’s most recent report card and a short, handwritten paragraph by the junior telling why he or she would like to participate in the Somersett Junior Golf Program.

GOLF TIP Brush Up on Pre-Swing Fundamentals

AS WE GET EXCITED for the new golf season the best thing we can do as players is to refresh our memory of preswing fundamentals, which include hold of the club, stance, posture, hand position and ball position. You will increase your chances of improving this season if these fundamentals are up to speed. Improving leads to enjoying.

Simply said the hold of the club for a right-hander is as follows:

Hold club in last three fingers of your left hand.

Next, place the heel pad of your left hand on the top of the club.

Lightly apply your thumb and forefinger with the “V” that they form pointing to your right cheek to right shoulder.

Place right middle two fingers underneath your left index finger.

House your left thumb in between the two pads of your right hand.

Lightly apply your thumb and forefinger with the “V” that they form pointing to your right cheek and right shoulder.

Clubface should be aimed at your target.

It is common that when getting into a golf posture we simply droop our shoulders and bow down to the ball. It is important to understand that good posture starts from bending at the hips while keeping the chest fairly tall (a small arch is OK). The simplest of golf swings is performed around a relatively flat back/straight spine. Make sure you keep ball position for your higher lofted clubs in the center while progressively moving the ball forward as the clubs get longer. A good rule of thumb is that your 5 iron will be approximately at the ¼ mark while the driver will be just inside your left heel.

KIDS’ PROGRAMS All children’s programs are for members of The Club at Town Center. Register for TCTC Kids and Camp at the front desk.

For all other programs, registration is through the MySomersett app.

Monday through Friday | Grades K-5 Register at the front desk or by calling 787-4500 This program is designed to create a positive and engaging beforeand after-school environment from 7–8:30 am and 3:30–6 pm Monday through Friday. Tutoring will be provided two days a week for those who may need a little extra help with their homework. We will provide two snacks (please tell us of any allergies). Space is limited – register today!

NEW GUIDELINES: Each family will be asked to fill out a waiver in order for their child to attend. This program will allow for a limited number of children to be enrolled in the program at any given time. The number depends on sibling groups. We also have socially-distanced our tables so that each child has their own space. Several tables have chairs closer together for siblings. It will be up to the parents of those siblings if you would like them to be socially distant from one another while in the care of The Club at Town Center. Children will be required to wash their hands when coming in from the bus, outside and after eating. There will be no sharing of food. Snacks will be provided that are individually packaged or will be served by staff after they have washed their hands and are wearing food-service gloves. We ask that all toys be left at home to avoid the issue of sharing.

Kids’ Corner is free, two-hour childcare program which allows parents to enjoy Club amenities. Children ages 18 months to 6 years enjoy interactions and learning opportunities, such as crafts, outside play and the teaching of simple letter and numbers as well as the days of the week and months of the year. Parents of children who are not potty trained MUST remain on Club property. The program runs at a 1:6 ratio. 1 child minimum; 8 maximum.

NEW GUIDELINES: Each family will be asked to fill out a waiver in order for their child to attend. This program will allow for up to 8 children to be enrolled in the program at any given time. Please drop your child off at the Kids’ Corner door and the staff will allow the child into the room.

Please do not send toys and other personal items from home. Jackets and snack bags will be allowed. A staff member will help each child wash their hands as they come into the room. All children will wash their hands frequently throughout the session and before they leave. All drinks need to have names and will be kept on top of the cubbies out of reach of other children. When picking up your child, a staff member will help them gather their belongings and will bring them to the door for parents to pick up. No parents will be allowed to enter the room during pick up and drop off hours.

THE CLUB AT TOWN CENTER REMINDERS THE CLUB AT TOWN CENTER is open with Board-set guidelines in place to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. These measures conform with county and state mandated restrictions. We are counting on your cooperation to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Here are highlights of what to expect if you visit the Club: MASKS: Everyone at the Club at Town Center is required to wear a face covering, except for children 9 years old and under and people who cannot wear a face covering due to a medical condition or disability (in this case, face shields are strongly recommended). This requirement extends to all areas in the Club, including the Sports Court, Fitness Center and Aerobics Studio.

...Club members may not bring guests to Club facilities or amenities, except for Canyon Nine Golf Course.

SOCIAL DISTANCING: Please maintain six-foot social distancing at all times, even in the pools and on the pool decks. City and county inspectors will be checking, and besides the obvious safety reasons for these measures, we risk violation notices and even getting shut down if we are not in compliance.

RESERVE YOUR SPOT: Members need to reserve a time slot to use the fitness area, fitness classes, the Lap Pool and the Tennis Courts. Space is limited. Reservations may be made through the MySomersett app (recommended) or over the phone (787-4500) up to 48 hours in advance.

Please be considerate of other residents and only reserve time slots you will actually use!

NO GUESTS, PLEASE: Due to restricted capacity, Club members may not bring guests to Club facilities or amenities, except for Canyon Nine Golf Course.

RSVP Policy Please remember to RSVP for programs by the deadline listed so we can ensure that enough supplies and staff are available. All event fees are due at time of reservation. Cancellations must be made 48 hours before an event to receive a refund. No refunds will be given for no-shows.

Unless noted, all events are for residents only. If residents choose to bring a guest, event and guest fees apply.

Late Pick-Up Fee The Club will charge a late pick-up fee for any child not picked up within 15 minutes of a program’s end time, including Kids’ Corner. Following the 15-minute grace period, a $5 fee will be charged for every 10 minutes your child remains with us.

Inclement Weather The Club may operate on limited hours in the event of inclement weather. We will do everything we can to open on time and remain open until close. Please call prior to arriving when it is snowing or icy.

Registration opens on March 1st for Camp Somersett 2021!

Campers will enjoy various activities, crafts, sports, swim lessons three days a week and lots of summer laughter. Every Tuesday and Thursday, we’ll embark on exciting off-site adventures.

Campers will need packed lunches and snacks every day. We will provide lunch on field trip days, but you will still need to provide a snack.

Note-Able Music

Note-Able Music Therapy Services (NMTS) provides musical opportunities and music therapy for all people of all ages and abilities.

Therapy Services Many of the individuals who participate in NMTS programs are too often defined by what they can’t do. Stepping on a stage and sharing their voice and talents can have a life altering effect.

It’s easy to take music for granted, including music lessons for our kids and the requisite recitals.

However nerve-wracking or painful these may be for parents, performances often bring feelings of excitement and even triumph.

Unfortunately, children and adults with disabilities are often excluded from music lessons, performance opportunities, and the growth that comes from these landmark experiences.

Note-Able Music Therapy Services (NMTS) provides musical opportunities and music therapy for all people of all ages and abilities.

It is a special place where people flourish through music in their own way. Many of the individuals who participate in NMTS programs are too often defined by what they can’t do. Stepping on a stage anad sharing their voice and talents can have a life altering effect.

Somersett resident Robbin Dunn remembers the first time she saw her son performing at an NMTS recital. “Fighting back tears, I watched my son...on a stage...singing and enjoying every minute of it. For a young man who struggles with autism and speech, this was our little miracle. He was so proud of himself and now thinks it will be ‘his turn’ every time we see live singers. This is what NMTS did for our son and family. He still struggles to speak well...but can belt out a song.”

Incorporated in 2003, NMTS is the only nonprofit music therapy agency in Nevada. The performance group The Note-Ables was the beginning of a vital community resource that now helps nearly 2,000 people with disabilities, neurological disorders, mental health and addiction issues, and other acute health conditions.

Along with being an effective therapy, music therapy has the added benefit of being fun. Many NMTS participants are not aware they are in a therapy session because making music is so enjoyable and rewarding. As the father of one of our teen participants recently told us, “Josh usually has challenges following group activities, but at NMTS we see a side of him we have never seen before. Smiling, dancing, following the lead of his peers – he has performed multiple times and always looks like he is having a blast!

We are thrilled.”

When asked how her son has benefitted from music therapy, Dunn says, “Note-Able Music Therapy Services taught him confidence, independence, and gave him the courage to share his love of music with others. We will be forever grateful for their amazing program.”

How to Help While music therapy’s impact is well-researched and documented, it is not covered by insurance in Nevada. A majority of NMTS participants live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level. Even though our fees are nominal, many need scholarships to participate. To support our services, you can visit nmtsreno.org/donate to give a onetime gift or become a monthly donor for as little as $5 per month.

RIGHT TOP: In 1986 we were still wearing tan uniforms. We had uniform inspections from time to time, so even once I was in investigations, all sworn personnel were required to always have a full patrol uniform.

RIGHT BOTTOM: Laurie and husband Dave.

OCCUPATION: Retired Law Enforcement I was hired by the San Diego Police Department in January 1979. At the time, women were just starting to be recruited into law enforcement. After graduating from the police academy, I spent eight exciting years in patrol, working all hours and in many areas of the city. Other than being sleep-deprived, I found the “graveyard shift” (11 pm–7 am) the most interesting.

In 1987, I transferred to the Public Affairs Unit which was responsible for public speaking events as well as operating community storefronts throughout the city. I was assigned to the Linda Vista Storefront which had a large population of refugees from the Vietnam conflict. The community had a huge transition to make and needed our help in their adjustment.

After three years in this assignment, I transferred to investigations, beginning in the Juvenile Division in downtown San Diego. I requested extra duties and segued into Crimes against Persons downtown, eventually specializing in domestic violence crime investigations. At this time domestic violence was not a priority for law enforcement and there were no agencies with a dedicated unit for this problem. SDPD began a mission to change this and within another year, formed a Domestic Violence Unit and I was drafted as a senior investigator there.

My stay there was short-lived when the Special Investigations Unit offered me a position.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was a unique investigative part of the police department and duties included undercover work, surveillance, assisting other units and agencies with their investigations. I stayed in SIU for eight years.

During this time, I also worked as a relief detective in the Homicide Unit when they needed an extra detective.

Eventually, I transferred to Homicide where I remained for the last 10 years of my career. About halfway through this time, I moved over to the Cold Case team.

I retired from the SDPD during the summer of 2009. However, after two months of “retirement,” my husband, Dave Judy, a veterinarian in San Diego’s east county, asked me to help out at his practice (a practice he owned for over 30 years.) I trained as a veterinary assistant and worked there for more than seven years. It was a 180-degree change from my previous career, and one of the many bonuses was seeing many people I’d known through the decades come walking through the clinic door with their pets.

In 2010, I returned to my love of art and creative expression. I began taking classes in watercolor painting and then learned to paint in oils, pastels, and acrylics. I am primarily a landscape artist but I also have a watercolor line of whimsical characters. My paintings can be found in the Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery in Carson City, the Prism Art Gallery, and the Nevada Artist Association.

ORIGINALLY FROM: I grew up in the San Fernando Valley in southern California – yes a “valley girl.” I lived there until 1978 when I moved to San Diego with my two young sons, Jason and Michael, to pursue my law enforcement career.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY: In 2002, my best friend and Dave’s staff played matchmaker. I had been Dave’s client for more than a decade and occasionally he asked about my cases. Long story short, it took Dave a few months to work up the courage to ask me out. We have been together since.

Dave and I have traveled the world together over the past two decades. We love outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and walking. (Dave was a marathon runner and has black belts in a few martial art disciplines.) I was a runner and hiker, but limit my running these days and do more walking than running.

My husband was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but grew up in Chicago. He received his degree in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois in 1978.

Within a couple of years, he moved to southern California where he eventually opened up his practice, Judy Veterinary Clinic. He retired and sold his practice in 2018, but was not quite ready for total retirement. He established a relief veterinary practice in Reno, assisting other practices.

Dave had minored in music in his early college years but did not pursue this

FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Basketball: Residents are welcome to come and shoot hoops during reserved gym time. Please bring your own basketball if possible. Reservations are for one hour, six residents per time slot. Masks are mandatory.

Body Sculpt: Define, sculpt and build lean muscle for all levels of fitness. Classes focus on intense isolation exercises with free weights and resistance, ending with abs.

Boot Camp: Each boot camp class will push you out of your comfort zone with different exercises to keep you on your toes and work up a sweat through total body, high intensity interval and circuit training.

Cardio Step: A high energy, heart-pumping cardio class that mixes basic to intermediate choreography in a variety of fun styles. Different intensity levels ensure everyone gets the most out of their workout.

An excellent cross-training class for all fitness levels.

Crunch 15: A 15 minute power class that focuses solely on core and ab strengthening exercises.

Fundamental Yoga: Introduces the principles of alignment and breath work in a flow of postures.

Pickleball: Pickleball is a beginner-friendly racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and ping pong. Pickleball is open to anyone who wants to play — come check it out!

Power Cycle: A condensed spin class that uses effective bursts of strength training while spinning.

Tabata/HIIT: Tabata and HIIT use short intense anaerobic exercise with even shorter recovery periods. With a variety of exercises and methods for this training, you’ll always be targeting major muscle groups for a total body workout.

Yoga: A Hatha based yoga class focusing on foundational yoga postures practicing alignment, strength and flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated.

An emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement.

Zumba®: Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves, Zumba® keeps everyone motivated by creating a dance party atmosphere.

REMINDERS: Heavy colognes/perfumes should not be worn during class. All participants are asked to wipe down equipment before and after use. Cleaned equipment should be returned to its’ original location after class. Cell phones should be put on silent and should not be used during class; if you have an emergency please take your call into the hallway.

TREES & SHRUBS

Assessment Payments Submitted Online (via ClickPay)

As the weather begins to warm and the snow subsides, it’s a good time to walk around your property and inspect your trees and shrubs to make sure they are looking up to par. If you want to replace a tree or shrub that is dead or looking ratty – or add a new one to your yard – here are a few reminders: • If you are replacing a tree or shrub with a similar species there is no need to get approval from the Aesthetic Guidelines Committee (AGC).

• If you want to replace a tree or shrub with a different species – or if you want to add a new shrub or tree to your landscape – you must get prior approval from AGC. Minor tree and shrub species changes fall under the Desk Review category. The fee of $50 is fully refundable after passed inspection.

Assessments are due on the first of each month. A late fee of $25 will be posted to accounts not paid by the 30th of the month. Accounts 60 days past due will lose clubhouse and/or Canyon Nine privileges.

Accounts 75 days past due will be sent to collections.

You can pay your monthly assessments online from the FirstService Residential website through ClickPay, a third-party payment processing company. Payments submitted through ClickPay typically take up to three business days to be credited to your assessment account. Please keep this in mind since payments received after the 30th are subject to a $25 late fee. ClickPay charges a fee for its payments made by debit or credit card. There is no fee if you pay by e-check. For an extra fee, you may arrange to have a payment posted within one business day.

You may also submit payments to the SOA office, via check or money order only.

Compliance Information To report a non-compliance, please email soa@mysomersett.com or call 787-4500, ext. 339. Please note that while we do investigate and document each complaint received, we cannot disclose the status of anyone’s account. Should a homeowner not respond to or correct a violation, he or she will be summoned to a hearing and could be suspended from the Club and assessed fines. At this time the Association has a policy not to enter a property unless it is bank owned, and then only to repair front-yard landscaping.

Executive sessions and AGC meetings are not open to residents other than those on the agenda. Communications, Facilities, Finance and West Park Community Garden committee meetings are open to all owners and are held at The Club at Town Center. Meetings of the Board of Directors are also open to all owners and are held in the Sports Court at The Club at Town Center.

until shortly before his retirement. A birthday gift of an electric guitar started him back into his first love. As with all of his endeavors, he enthusiastically poured himself into learning the guitar. He is currently a teacher of beginning guitar at TMCC. I have two sons. Jason lives in Sweden and has three daughters, Maya (18), Lea (13), and Ebba (9). Jason moved to Sweden after serving in the Marine Corp and meeting his future wife while he was in Europe. He became fluent in the language and received his Bachelor’s in Nursing, moving on to a Masters in Public Health and is finishing up his Ph.D. in Disaster Response Medicine.

My younger son lives in Friday Harbor, Wash. He is a partner in the Ravenhill Construction Company ( https://www.ravenhillconstruction.com) and has two sons, Lyric (11) and Haven (7). I am so proud of both of my sons.

WHY SOMERSETT? My husband and I began looking at the Reno area as a place to retire around 2010. We loved the proximity to Tahoe and other parts of Northern California. We heard about Somersett from acquaintances who had moved to the area around 2000. There was something unique about Somersett and we continued to return here, exploring more and more. We love how open it is, the friendly atmosphere, and all of the outdoor activities so close by.

In 2015, we bought our first home here. We drove from San Diego to Somersett monthly for three years, even if it was to only stay for the weekend. We always drove so we could bring our dogs with us. We have two Golden Doodles, Bugs and Lola, as well as a small rescue Chihuahua/Yorkie mix, Tinkerbell. They run our house, not us!

In the summer of 2018, Dave sold his practice and we moved permanently to Somersett. A few months later, we were walking our dogs up in the Cliffs, which was under construction at that time. When I walked out onto a lot with the fabulous view, I knew I had found our permanent home. Within a few days, we signed contracts and moved into the house in March 2020.

Our new neighborhood is comprised of some of the nicest, most fascinating people. We all began moving in around the same time but then the COVID-19 crisis hit, putting a halt on gatherings. I wanted to get to know my neighbors, so two of us gals started putting together outdoor block parties in our cul de sac as a way to introduce everyone to each other. What began as an introduction has turned our block into a close-knit community with true friendships. Dave and I have also been fortunate to meet many others in the community and have formed deep friendships with some amazing people.

MY TWO GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS: During my time on the SDPD, I assisted in hundreds of investigations, but the one I am most proud of was dubbed by the media “The American Beauty” case. What came to me as a suicide case, through a long exhaustive investigation, turned into a conviction of first-degree murder with special circumstances. Kristin, a toxicologist employed at the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, and her new boyfriend Michael, manager of the lab at the Medical Examiner’s Office (and Kristin’s boss), poisoned Kristin’s husband, Gregory. A couple of books have been written on the investigation, the most accurate of which is by Caitlin Rother, who covered the case as a reporter for the San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper.

Her last book on the case is titled Poisoned Love.

My second greatest accomplishment is my artwork. What started as a hobby has turned into a second career. I love painting and paint daily. I can lose myself for hours at a time when at my easel.

FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Aside from painting, I love outdoor activities and this past summer took up golfing with five of my closest friends. Together we are learning the game and enjoy everything associated with golfing. Several neighbors took up golf as well and we are quite the group on the course.

SOMETHING PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU: I consider myself a work in progress. I can remember getting ready to retire from law enforcement thinking, now what do I want to be or do? I am constantly exploring ideas and have an insatiable appetite to learn and become involved in activities. I cannot sit still!

HUNTER EDGAR WE ARE EXCITED TO INTRODUCE HUNTER EDGAR, the new Sports Coordinator at The Club at Town Center. Hunter takes over for Camille Porter who is now the Club Manager.

Hunter has a wealth of experience in aquatics, including serving as a pool manager/supervisor at the Fernley Swimming Pool. Hunter also worked as a lifeguard, a CPR instructor, a certified pool and spa operator and head swim coach.

The Nevada native was born and raised in Fernley. Like many Nevadans, in his free time, Hunter likes to hunt, fish and hike.

Hunter is looking forward to meeting Somersett residents and welcomes input. “I would love to hear residents’ ideas for sports programs,’’ he says.
